I really don't care about your baby.

I'm in a taproom with a friend.

A couple arrived with their 32 day old baby. And 2 flights of beer.

They're talking very loudly about how baby is/isn't. They've already pulled 2 other tables into the conversation about their baby and feeding/sleeping/clothing/nappies.

My babies are adults. Friends babies are adults.

I know I wasn't this insufferable when mine were little. Friend says she wasn't either.

We both know we didn't go out drinking when baby was 32 days old.

Babies are really precious creatures. But only to their parents/family. Most people don't want to get drawn into a conversation about a strangers baby.

In essence, stop talking so loudly about your baby. The rest of us really don't care.

I think anywhere that serves beer by the flight is likely to attract insufferable types

Yes, and calls themselves a “Taproom”.‘ Pretentious shite

Ilikeanimalsmorethanpeople · 09/04/2026 17:25

Thats a shame my baby is very cute!
But also you're out with a friend and the best thing you can do is moan about what someone else is doing...your friend must be having a fabulous time!!

New parents are in the newborn OMG LOOK WHAT WE MADE phase and if you don't like it then don't engage I am sure they wont be offended.

PeonyPatch · 09/04/2026 17:25

Tbh, I would find this really annoying too. It’s not really the typical setting to bring a 32 week old baby into!!!

usedtobeaylis · 09/04/2026 17:28

100% someone found you insufferable as a new parent.

Enigma54 · 09/04/2026 17:28

VillageMilton · 09/04/2026 16:52

You need to drink more beer. Drink until they find you annoying.

Haha.. love this! 🍻

Is there really any reason to go out drinking with a month old baby, unless you’re Katie Price?

Going out for a drink or two is not the same as being an alcoholic. Get a grip.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/04/2026 17:30

Drink flights are really common - you can get beer, wine, gin, depending on the establishment.

Shitmonger · 09/04/2026 17:32

Perhaps you should also order a beer flight. I had a mimosa flight last weekend that was superb. They had a few different ones to choose from but I ordered the tropical flight: mango, pineapple, coconut, and guava mimosas. By the end of it I could have even cheerfully listened to someone waffling on about their poodle mix, let alone a cute baby.

ohwtf · 09/04/2026 17:34

It baffles me why people take babies and children into drinking establishments.

They're now videocalling Nanny. Loudly.

Lord help me!

I'm afraid this is MN, the vast majority are probably horrified that anyone should not appreciate the totally unique, no-one's ever done it before, sprog! Enjoy your flights, never seen that term in the UK before, become raucous and belch loudly, should annoy them, especially if the Special One is sleeping.

What a bore for you 😴 I couldn't bare that kind of shit

Whoops75 · 09/04/2026 17:37

Main character types trying to catch your eye to talk at you! Nightmare, get more beer asap

Thetigerdrankmywine · 09/04/2026 17:37

This would do my head in too. Even when mine were small, if I was out socialising with other adults and had time away from my kids, I didn't want little kids around. I'm not a dog person either, really, but I prefer dogs in pubs to babies and children.

I think at 32 days I was still getting used to bf in public. In all honesty, a pub wouldn't have been my first plan.

'Taproom' is a term that goes back far longer than any of us have been on this earth. even me!

Picture didn't post

I want that 'flight' (never heard of it) so badly now. I love beer.

JohnTheRevelator · 09/04/2026 17:12

Was just going to ask the same question! Are you in the UK?

These exist in the UK. Usually attached to a brewery so they mainly serve their own beers.

Tacohill · 09/04/2026 17:43

I’m confused whether the baby is there or at home with the nanny.

Are they your friends?
If not, just politely ignore them.

PuppyMonkey · 09/04/2026 17:44

Only one thing worse than baby bores - and that’s beer bores. Wink

Hubbletroop · 09/04/2026 17:45

I totally read the title as ‘tampon’ 😂

The OP means the baby’s grandmother, I think.

Babyboomtastic · 09/04/2026 17:48

Obviously you can't go out drinking when you're pregnant, and once babies is a few months old, they have a routine, need entertainment etc. so for the first few years of parenthood, those first 3ish (maybe 6 if you're lucky) months are you last opportunity to go out together for drinks nicely.

I'm teetotal so I didn't drink, but I went to a lot of pubs, restaurants, parties etc in those first few months. Have barely done it for years now. Let them have their last hurrah before their freedom is snatched away 😜

PopcornKitten · 09/04/2026 17:49

Some people are just rude and think everyone wants to hear their conversations. It’s how they are with or without baby.

Left · 09/04/2026 17:50

Sounds like how I am about my cat. I don’t take her to the pub tho.

Didimum · 09/04/2026 17:54

What’s more tedious than people talking about their baby is is people complaining they can hear strangers talking about their baby.

Lifeomars · 09/04/2026 17:59

i like babies and even though it is centuries since I had mine I have never forgotten the mad chaos and wonderment of those early days so I admire other people's babies because when they are little you really can feel that you are the only person to have ever produced a real live tiny human. If it is getting to the OP then she and her mate could move tables or go elsewhere. This is hardly a life shattering problem.
