Do I look overweight?

Do I look overweight? I’m the one in grey. I’ve had two kids and I think I might have let my weight run away with me, but as a typical woman I want to know if I’m being over critical? Please be honest

Do I look overweight?

You have a really nice figure OP. I don’t think the outfit is “flattering” (but that is a stupid concept anyway) so probably adds to the feeling. Context matters though- do you exercise and eat plenty of variety? Do you have any health issues? If you’re feeling unhealthy then address that, if it’s just about the clothes size then just go up a size and you’ll look slimmer anyway.

YourKonstantine · 05/04/2026 21:06

You look like a size 12, which is probably overweight according to BMI, but in this day and age most will say you’re slim.

JulietteHasAGun · 05/04/2026 21:08

You look fine, not overweight.

BlueShoeGlue · 05/04/2026 21:14

I think you just need a new more supportive (better fitting) bra

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/04/2026 21:17

I’m not sure how the voting is so voting yanbu as I meant you do NOT look overweight

G5000 · 05/04/2026 21:18

If anybody would describe you, I don't think they would say that yes you know Zippy, the overweight one.
They also wouldn't describe you as the slim one. If you liked yourself better as size 10 then (speaking from experience) it is easier to get back to size 10 when you're size 12. It gets harder once you get to 14 or 16..

WonderingWanda · 05/04/2026 21:20

You really look totally normal and not overweight. Christ knows how scrawny all the people commenting that you are must be. I am just in the overweight category by bmi and I definitely look it. You look the way I looked when I was not overweight. Not all body types sit at the lower end of the bmi, I hour glass and have always had boobs and hips.

ChristmasCwtch · 05/04/2026 21:22

I think you look fine. I’d guess size 12, with a BMI of 25.

northernspanishlass · 05/04/2026 19:43

It looks like you have some tummy fat which would put you as overweight. Just bearing in mind that is may be an issue as you get older.

Tummy fat?

Jesus fucking wept.

FlatErica · 05/04/2026 21:23

A bit, but you’re fine.

LoveMaths · 05/04/2026 21:24

I don’t think you look overweight at all.

CIng · 05/04/2026 21:26

No, you’re not overweight. I echo others in finding it sad that you’re asking (but I understand).

fouroclockrock · 05/04/2026 21:26

Really??? You look absolutely fine. You could pass as a teenager.

NarnianQueen · 05/04/2026 21:26

You just look a totally normal size! Not skinny, not overweight!

Sara237 · 05/04/2026 21:28

No, you look fit. You have a clearly defined waist and your curves look strong and feminine. A size 12 is not overweight. You'll look back on this picture and this body one day and wish you'd embraced it and realized just how great you looked.

G5000 · 05/04/2026 21:29

Yes that's a valid point. When I was bigger, I always thought that person X is normal weight, person Y is very slimm etc. Then I slimmed down and suddenly everybody else seemed to have simultaneously gained weight. The previously normal weight person looked chubby and slim person looked just normal weight.

Considering the average woman is size 16, then OP will be seen as slim by most other women.

Theseventhmagpie · 05/04/2026 21:32

I’m amazed at Mumsnet new found honesty on this thread. I don’t think the OP looks overweight at all but some do and have said so
I’m pondering what happened to honesty with the thread about the woman in the flowery bikini???

FaceIt · 05/04/2026 21:33

You’ve got a figure to be proud of 😊

justmyluck1234 · 05/04/2026 21:35

You definitely don’t look overweight OP. However if you are not happy with the way you look, there is no harm in wanting to change it.

i say this sat here, feeling the biggest I have ever felt (not classed as overweight) just not happy with how I look either. So honestly you’re not alone.

but please don’t be over critical on yourself because as I said you definitely aren’t overweight.

You look great! Photos always make people look bigger and you’re wearing light coloured clothes. But honestly you don’t look overweight to me.

you’re similar to me - I went from size 10 to a 12 after birth. I fluctuate depending on my energy levels. What I have found is that I look so much better in photos when I keep up with stretching and posture exercises (10 mins a day). Amazing what a straight back can do for you!

I might have misremembered but I think the thread about the flowery bikini was about the choice of swimwear rather than if the person wearing them was overweight. I thought the swimwear suited her and wouldn’t comment on someone’s size unless expressly asked.

WutheringFalls · 05/04/2026 21:39

Not thin. Not fat. I don’t think it’s a good photo as the jumper is making you look larger than you are.

clickyteeclick · 05/04/2026 21:40

Good God no you look bloody gorgeous. Plus love your outfit. It’s giving 90’s vibe in a very good way. X

Hallywally · 05/04/2026 21:41

Don’t like your outfit but you look average/medium sized. Not fat.
