To think it’s easter not christmas?

What is going on with easter these days?
My social media is full of photos of piles of easter eggs, toys & clothes!
Mine got one each (well a tub of haribo for one as he doesn’t like easter eggs.)
AIBU to think people go over the top in some weird bid to show off?

“It is (&was) pagan befire the Christian's hijacked it.”

Bingo! Easter Grin Mumsnet never fails to deliver, and has really excelled itself this year which the usual rhetoric.

I'm sorry (not) if pointing out facts bothers you.

My DCs are 28, 19 and 17 now.
Looking back, we’d have an Easter egg hunt in the garden, do Easter colouring and crafts and they would get an Easter egg each.
Guess social media wasn’t a thing back then.

Easy way to sort that out.

Cook up some rabbit for lunch and when done, ask them if they “enjoyed the Easter bunny”. Will be the last year you have to do the madness again.

Oh, memories of walking through the market where there were dead rabbits hung up for sale, stupid OH telling the children that's the Easter rabbit up there! I think by then they'd sussed his sense of 'humour', years earlier we'd been to the Christmas Mess dinner and next morning he told them we'd eaten Rudolph, as we'd had venison.

Someone just had a baby we've been subjected to

You do realise you don't have to follow them, right?! 😂
You talk about obsession but sound obsessed yourself in that you keep on watching their updates.
Why not just unfollow, or hide their posts? Or better off, unfriend them?
We don't all use social media the same way.
Some use it to document days out, memories. (It's nice to see memories from say 15 years ago pop up, even if some days you feel it's more painful /bittersweet)
Some use it to stay in touch with friends, and enjoy seeing what they're up to.
Others use it to lurk and bitch and I honestly wonder what they get out of it at all as they sound so fucking miserable and don't like "being subjected" to posts. 🙄

Yes! It is very easy to press 'unfollow'.

I don't think I follow a single person online who I find annoying. If their content grates on me repeatedly then I unfollow. I really recommend this to anyone who does use IG and orher SM. Curate your feed with stuff that makes you smile and doesn't wind you up (this may explain why my feed is almost zero celebrities and just frazzled mums like me 🤣)

I saw a post yesterday that basically said something similar...4 day weekend, better weather, flowers blooming, lots of chocolate, a big roast and quality time with family without all the pressure of christmas and do you know what I'm here for it!

Agree. I love it.

Just would never be so cringe as to photograph it all and stick it online.

I stopped buying eggs a couple of years ago, t cost is ridulous considering the amount of chocolate you actually get
