Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

Oh my god this is so miserable! It’s once a year, for a few year max. Your kids are only little once, make some memories with them

Can you not “make memories” at a slightly more considerate hour? Waking up your neighbours at 6.30am on a Sunday is a dick move.

YellingAway · 05/04/2026 08:37

Lot of entitled posters on here this morning who think it’s ok to do as it’s just one day, let them have their fun.

A lot of people like to have a bit of a lie in at the weekend and it’s common courtesy to not let your kids out to scream away so early.

Weird comment.

Yeah, what's Jesus got to do with Easter?!

What?! It was hilarious. Nearly spat my coffee out.

I agree. Funny yes, weird no. It was meant as a joke by the poster.

sittingonabeach · 05/04/2026 08:38

My poor DC must have had deprived lives because I don’t remember making any memories at 6.30 in the morning.

Whenisitmyturntorest · 05/04/2026 08:38

I wouldn't but I always see posters on here claiming 'surely it's a one off' to kids being woken up by loud late night parties/summer BBQs etc and this is the same.

ChefsKisser · 05/04/2026 06:46

Its what Jesus would have wanted

That’s exactly what I said this morning when I had a big bag of m&ms for breakfast.

It’s only one day- I couldn’t get worked up about this.

MidLifeMayhem · 05/04/2026 08:39

Maybe there’s a reason other than no boundaries eg parent going into work.

Where is that laughing response when I need it?

I doubt even Jesus had risen by 6.30am on Easter Sunday

Ah but he may have appreciated a bit of a crowd gathering for the event.

Exactly. No Easter Bunny MN laughing emoji.

I think it’s fine.
Its a bit of fun for 5 mins for kids
It’s only once a year.

Those 5 minutes could have been done at 9am, not 6.30am though.

OP - YANBU. It’s very inconsiderate.

Megifer · 05/04/2026 08:41

BringBackCatsEyes · 05/04/2026 08:33

I presumed that was tongue in cheek. It’s not a film for young children.

Strangely its a U though. A perfect example of why age ratings on films arent always reliable 😬

SatsumaDog · 05/04/2026 08:41

6:30 is ridiculous. If they really needed to do it then, they should have done it inside. I get up very early, but I don’t make noise which would wake anyone, especially my neighbours. I wouldn’t have dreamed of having my kids outside making noise at that time.

OMGitsnotgood · 05/04/2026 08:41

I can’t believe how many people think it’s ok to be waking the neighbours at 6:30 at a weekend. What’s wrong with teaching children to be respectful of people around them?

“Oh I’ve got an early shift, it’s ok to have the kids out waking the neighbours at 6.30am”
What?!

I have plenty of lovely memories of Easter and none of them involved chocolate hunts at 6:30am. We had Easter egg hunts in the afternoon and we knew my grandparents were responsible, no mention of Easter bunnies. My parents gave us our eggs after church.

Some parents also need to remember that Easter is a deeply religious day and means more to some people than chocolate. While lots of people don’t care about that aspect of it anymore, people up at 6:30am with screaming kids in the garden is very inconsiderate. It’s also a Sunday, and a long bank holiday weekend for many workers and a chance to have a rest. Not everything is about ‘your’ kids.

Suffer the little children....

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2026 08:42

Megifer · 05/04/2026 08:23

And you use your parent words and say "not now it's too early, let's pop Watership Down on then we'll all be in the mood for some egg hunt fun after that"

😂

SquigglePigs · 05/04/2026 08:42

It is inconsiderate. DD is desperate to do hers but I'm making her wait till after 9. She also won't scream but there's bound to be evicted chatter.

Sorry, it’s obviously gone over my head. Obviously others enjoyed it though!

UniquePinkSwan · 05/04/2026 08:43

Wouldn’t bother me. I was in the gym at that time. Sunday is just another day

I don’t agree with waking people at 6.30 am. But this thread is so funny. It’s Mumsnet at its best. So many threads are a bit too serious these days.
