This is what I’ve eaten over the last 7 days.
Does this seem like too much food to you or not a lot of food?
Female 5 foot 2.

Day 1

4 egg omelette with 2 pork chops and red pepper, sweet corn.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts spread out and picked on over the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 2

3 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with some veg.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts picked on throughout the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 3
4 egg omelette and pack of prawns, sweetcorn and spinach.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g bag of Mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 4
Half a roast chicken picked at.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheese and half a packet of 200g nuts to pick throughout the day.
5 cups of decaf coffee.

Day 5
4 fried eggs, mushrooms, an avocado, tomatoes and bacon.
Snacks - half a pack of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 6
500g diced beef fried with red pepper and mushrooms.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 7
1 Tin of tuna and salad.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half packet of 200g mixed nuts.
1 bottle of white wine.

2 fillets of salmon with green beans, broccoli and red pepper.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g packet of nuts.
5 cups of decaf coffee.
1 bottle of white wine.

I have used the term half a pack instead of (450g) cheese and 100g nuts because I thought people would be able to imagine a 900g block of cheese and 200g pack of nuts easier as that’s how they come.
Does this sound like too much food or not enough food please?
I typically eat one meal a day in the morning and pick on cheese and nuts sporadically for the rest of the day.
This is because I need to eat until I’m full or I will still feel hungry after so I eat a big main meal first thing as it works for me and I feel full.
The cheese and nuts are because of a craving for cheese. I love my cheese.

Yes how did you come about this combination of foodstuffs?

Well I think I have an intolerance to some foods but I’ve never managed to find out what.
I tried cutting out gluten and then sugar and processed foods and then fruit, veg and eventually started an elimination diet and found those to be the only foods I could eat without any issues so they became my safe foods that I live on.

Well no probably not.
This thread has gone the opposite way that I was expecting, I thought my family were being ridiculous so I came to see what others thought.
I thought people were going to tell me I ate really healthy meals or that I should eat more because one meal a day isn’t enough.

You thought people would say your diet was healthy?! 🤯 I’m speechless!

What does your husband eat out of interest whilst you eat half a chicken for breakfast? Don’t you ever have meals together?

harriethoyle · 30/03/2026 14:00

Half a kilo of cheese a day 😂You're living the dream!

It’s interesting you should mention blood pressure because I have to track my blood pressure for my medication and it’s very low. My doctor isn’t too concerned because it’s always been low. I hadn’t realised there was a link between diet and blood pressure, I am just monitored for my heart.

You're being monitored for your heart at 42 years old?!?!

I mean, I'm not surprised but fuck me, this is not good at all OP.

And yes, your diet is absolutely shocking. On so many levels.

Dearg · 30/03/2026 14:01

I would also be worrying about long term kidney function. That’s a lot of protein to digest.

Did this start as an Keto/ low carb kick?

Good news is, there’s not a lot of refined carbohydrate or sugars, other than the wine and that’s only a couple of days.

Re the cheese: the advice I was given was that it should be no larger than a small box of matches ( I realise you probably don’t see many of those these days) - so about 5cm/ 2.5cm / 2cm cube shape.

@ivyball is there a reason that you don't want to say what your current weight is or whether you are gaining, staying the same or losing weight?

w/w is
50% water
40% cheese
10% nuts

Ok, well that makes some sense in that you have applied some sort of logic to it

However, something is awry with portion sizes and the fact that your diet is very one dimensional.

How do you eat the cheese and are you sure you've got your measurements right?

I love cheese and dairy but Ive just had a splodge of greek yoghurt, about 50g, as an example and I have to be careful with yoghurt as it gives me heart burn

Then on top of that Ive had about 20g of cheddar and that has doubled the heartburn.

SayNo2Drama · 30/03/2026 14:02

ivyball · 30/03/2026 13:54

The cheese is £4.99 in aldi and the nuts are £1.75 that will last two days. Is that particularly expensive? Less than £3.50 a day for all snacks.
I do agree it’s too much cheese though.

Are you doing keto, perchance?

I started keto doing similar to yourself i.e. cheese, nuts and dry wine on the weekends. I ended up with really bad stomach aches and constipation, though, ha!

Also, I didn't gain weight but I didn't lose any, either.

Cheese and nuts were my kryptonite.

All my labs came back ok but this diet can be hard on your digestion and who knows what that means for the long term.

If you need fat to feel full, someone here suggested an additional lean meal, instead of nuts and cheese, which is a great idea.

You'd get more quality protein, more vegetables and more healthy fats if you considered this over OMAD + snacks.

DietDoctor is a great site with suggestions on how to build in more keto food without cheese, nuts etc.

Or, add your additional meal, and limit nuts and cheese to 30g/day each.

I mean, don't change if you're okay, but not sure what the point of your question was so have made assumptions until you tell us otherwise!

Perhaps OP will clarify but I assumes she means she is on medication that can increase blood pressure and so is monitored for that

Not necessarily that she has a heart condition per se.

Perhaps I misunderstood but she says her blood pressure is low.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 30/03/2026 14:04

450 grams of cheddar is 1872 calories

Pumpkinmagic · 30/03/2026 14:05

That amount of cheese is ridiculous. A block of cheese would usually last a family of 4 an entire week. You are having 3 1/2 blocks a week to yourself, that’s insane. If you are trying to put on weight then makes sense but still a really unhealthy way to do it. Nuts are super healthy but high in calories. I would usually have an approx 30g portion of nuts or nut butter.

Edwardbear1 · 30/03/2026 14:05

How long have you been doing your cheese diet ?

LittleMyLabyrinth · 30/03/2026 14:05

I lean towards more low carb/high protein myself but this is just deeply strange. It's not enough food but also very calorific. Also so so much coffee and booze! Idk though if you feel good in yourself and your gp isn't concerned then you do you.

It's not binge drinking to have 3 large glasses of wine two evenings a week.....

Edited

Binge drinking is classed as more than 6 units of alcohol in one session for women. 3 large glasses is 9-10units.

NHS definition binge drinking. Perhaps consider your own consumption

likelysuspect · 30/03/2026 14:07

That explains how you got there, but not why you think it's healthy.

How does your intolerance manifest?

Was the elimination diet under the guidance of a qualified dietician? (Not nutritonist - anyone can call themselves that and while some a very good indeed, they are vastly outnumbered by the quacks.)

I think the wine is the least of the OPs concerns here.

The fact she's eating over 3kg of cheese each week is probably the more pressing issue.

PinkCrab · 30/03/2026 14:07

From a purely body fat perspective, someone at your height who is as sedentary as you’ve said you are, needs approximately 1500 calories a day to prevent fat gain/loss - ie to maintain your current weight.

Taking your Day 6 for example, this amounts to a total of 3,296 calories, not including any oil you use to cook your dinner with or milk/sugar that you put in your coffee. This could easily take you to 3,500 calories per day.

This means you are eating 2,000 calories more per day than your body needs to function, and these extra calories are being converted to fat in the absence of you doing any muscle building activities.

To give you an idea of the amount of exercise you’d have to do to use up these calories, I am a similar height and I burn 2,400 calories per day doing an hours quick walk (about 3 miles) and an hour of CrossFit (cardio and heavy weights) as well as being on my feet most the day. If I ate what you ate in a day, I’d still be eating 1,000 calories more per day than I need and would expect to gain 2lb per week.

Healthy diets come in all shapes and sizes but clearly, if you’re asking here, you’ve got reason to believe this isn’t healthy for you. Certainly that many calories above what your body needs per day is a poor indication of this being a healthy diet.

SylvanMoon · 30/03/2026 14:08

@ivyball I would think that if you have had this sort of diet for years that you are not in a very healthy state, probably overweight and definitely not getting your 5-a-day of fruit and vegetables. You would appear to have disordered eating; I'd suggest you talk to your GP and ask for the help of a nutritionist rather than you trying to tweak what you eat. However do you cope when having to eat out socially or is that something you've avoided? How do the other people in your household eat or do you live alone? I do hope you get some help with this as it will be building up problems for later in life if not now.

I mean I’m 42 and being monitored for my heart as they suspect a heart block but it is quite a common one and you can have it at any age!

likelysuspect · 30/03/2026 14:08

I mean whether I believe all this or not, what always strikes me is the horror of posters, MN in particular about a 'bad diet'

I mean look at the Stones and other people, Billy Idol is another, they spent their entire lives high as a kites, drinking, smoking, drugging. A bit of excess cheese may be survivable.

The acid in the wine is cutting right through all the fat so I think she needs it

I'm 5ft 2. I weigh 60kgs. Makes me JUST in the normal Bmi. I am tiny round the waist but big boob's and bum. I would be enormous if I ate what you did. You need fruit, vegetables and sort out your portion control. 500gm of mince is not for one person. Being completely inactive too is no good for your health. It's not just what you see in the mirorr, but think about your insides.
