An hour “later” when the clocks go forward- so don’t take advantage of the new time to send them out an hour earlier

OneFootAfterTheOther · 29/03/2026 12:01

9am

QuirkyHorse · 29/03/2026 12:04

8am but I wouldn't moan at 7am, 6am I would be a bit Hmm

dizzydizzydizzy · 29/03/2026 12:05

Depends - one child quietly bouncing and reasonably far from neighbours - 8am.

More than one child, so involving talking and shouting and/or close to neighbours- 9am earliest

dottiedodah · 29/03/2026 12:06

I think 10.00 am is fine .Any earlier is not fair on NDN. Our NDN have young children and are mindful of the time .I think all this worrying about screen time isnt helping.A couple of hours watching tv or Ipad is fine .We used to go out a lot anyway when ours were small (still do !) and maybe come back. DC out in the afternoons .

If you want to be a good neighbour, then about 10 I’d say x

Only 6% of people work 9 - 5 these days, so I don't see the weekend, or just Sunday, should be treated differently.

Interesting statistic.

i was just going to by my neighbours, family and friendship circle where the majority work Monday- Friday only.

Swiftie1878 · 29/03/2026 12:11

7am.

Owly11 · 29/03/2026 12:12

On a Sunday 11am. On a Saturday ideally 10am but 9am just about ok. Mon-fri 8am.

CherryViper · 29/03/2026 12:12

10am

Same for mowing the lawn.

LilyLemonade · 29/03/2026 12:16

10 on a Sunday.

SapatSea · 29/03/2026 12:20

Seems it be 6.30am next door

I think expecting people to wait until 10am to go in their garden is ridiculous on any day.

Sundays are the only rest day for many people, and being woken up by screaming children on a trampoline, is really shitty.

But the new time is the time.

Zanatdy · 29/03/2026 12:23

9am

Bloodycrossstitch · 29/03/2026 12:23

I probably wouldn’t let my own kids out before 9am but I wouldn’t be bothered by neighbours kids being out from 8am.

I also think it’s daft expecting them to be out an hour later today.

ThisKeenScroller · 29/03/2026 12:34

I think it depends on the neighbours. Our unofficial quiet time here is midnight to 9am all week long.

I know children don't stay children forever, but it's still a bit like whether you buy next to a church should dictate whether it's acceptable to hear bells.

If you move into a very kid friendly/unfriendly neighbourhood, you should expect to adapt to that noise profile. I think it's ridiculous to assume everyone's sleeping patterns are the same as yours, and you shouldn't intentionally piss off people because you're entitled to do so. You need to get a sense of what sort of hours the people around you keep, and all make a few compromises.

It's just nicer when neighbours take each other into consideration.

Labelledelune · 29/03/2026 12:39

Not if they are making noise. My grandchildren live with me, they go out on the trampoline if they make noise they get called back in.

ShetlandishMum · 29/03/2026 12:41

10 am but families don't care.

user1497787065 · 29/03/2026 12:43

7am, maybe 7.30am.

NotSmallButFunSize · 29/03/2026 12:45

Glad all you 8am posters don't live next door to me!

Far too bloody early on a Sunday - people like a lie in and 8am is not that!

weareallcats · 29/03/2026 12:46

9ish, but I wouldn’t be too bothered by 8am. I think mowing the lawn or drilling, if you’re in an attached property, is more dickish overall, given adults can definitely wait.

Not ‘to go in their garden’. To go on their probably squeaky trampoline and make noise.

So 9pm, when children are trying to sleep, is fine to be noisy? Why is it okay to disturb children but not adults?
