9am

In a normal sized garden, I’d say around 9am.

8am. Same as lawnmowers. It’s nice and neighbourly to wait till a little bit later than that, like 9am, but it’s not realistic for everyone. Some people have kids who’ve been awake since 6 and are climbing the walls and some people need to mow the lawn before they do a bunch of other errands.
It’s a bit like it’s neighbourly not to have loud parties every Tuesday but the council’s noise control guidelines probably talk about excessive noise after 10pm so if the music’s a bit louder than you would like (but not over council guidelines) at 9pm every Tuesday it’s annoying but not unacceptable iyswim.

This the police say 7am but I think 8-9am is neighbourly

TheBlueKoala · 29/03/2026 10:16

Not before 10 on a week-end. And I say that as someone who wakes up at 6 anyway and whose children are teens. I just don't think it's respectful to my neighbours.

Clogblog · 29/03/2026 10:17

8

But a lot depends on the vibe of your area

Our neighbours are fairly noisy - lots of music playing, etc, so I don't feel the need to keep the kids in the house

Spinningnewbie · 29/03/2026 10:18

7 or 8am any day. Why is Sunday different?

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/03/2026 10:18

Never 😆

Only joking 10 am at the earliest, as long as they are not screaming.

Children make noise when they play. Why should they be forced to stay out of fheir own garden until 10am?
Ridiculous.

Notmyreality · 29/03/2026 10:21

Are you my neighbour?

he’s retired and is so quiet Mon-Friday and as soon as the weekend arrives he’s out with the lawnmower at 8am, or power washing the garden or hammering. He’s always so bloody noisy at the weekend, when the rest of the neighbours are relaxing because they’ve worked their arses off Monday to Friday at work and just want a quiet morning with a long lie.

rwalker · 29/03/2026 10:23

Ideally 10 but at a push 9.30

ThePoshUns · 29/03/2026 10:23

Any avoidable noise before 10 ish on a Sunday is inconsiderate.

I love next door to a church and the bells start at 9.45 😆 At least it's not every week.

Clefable · 29/03/2026 10:23

I don’t let kids out to play in garden till at least 9am at weekends.

Thatcannotberight · 29/03/2026 10:24

Your children? 7am. Anyone else's? 10am. 🤣. My children never had a trampoline and they managed to play without screaming.

Because most of use aren’t entitled twats who aren’t that selfish and self centred to think the world revolves around us and have consideration and respect for others people

Munchyseeds2 · 29/03/2026 10:29

10am is early enough on a Sunday - with no screaming!

Only 6% of people work 9 - 5 these days, so I don't see the weekend, or just Sunday, should be treated differently.
