To be annoyed by this note pushed through my door - photo

I’ve recently moved to this street.

I know it’s politely written but it’s so passive aggressive.

The “end of the road” in question has a primary school on it. There were no spaces there at 830am when I needed to park. And there was someone in the space outside my house so I parked about two door down from my house in the only possible space.

I also have a blue badge.

AIBU to be annoyed? No house number on it so not sure which neighbour sent it

Keep your blue on your dashboard all the time. I do. Then, when idiots like this come along they think twice about sticking notes on,realising you may not be ABLE to walk further!

Oh, it was supposed to be funny?Unfortunately for you, it just came across as uncalled for rudeness. Never mind.

Phew!

i would be surprised if the op mentioned having a blue badge and it wasn’t in the window

I don’t keep mine on display at home incase my car gets broken into. Not everyone does

DefiantRabbit9 · 28/03/2026 21:21

We got a similar note about bins when we first moved in. Not an issue, no yentas giving us grief. Don't look too deep into it it's just a 'just so you know' letter.

Loloblue · 28/03/2026 21:25

They should have knocked on your door like a normal person and chatted to you instead of sending this lame, pass agg BS anonymously.

Me too
I appreciated it

MutherTrucker · 28/03/2026 21:37

Well it’ll be whoever’s house you parked outside of

Greenshed · 28/03/2026 22:09

They can send all the notes they like, but as it’s a public road, they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they tried to take it further. You park wherever there’s a space as long as you aren’t parking illegally.
I know it’s frustrating when you live on a street without off road parking if you can’t park directly outside your house, but I’m afraid that is how it is. Ignore the note and park wherever you can.

pollymere · 28/03/2026 22:13

Organise a Disabled Bay outside your house. They may not have registered that you are unable to park at the end.

AngelinaFibres · 28/03/2026 22:30

Itiswhysofew · 27/03/2026 22:29

That looks like my sister's handwritingGrin

What a nightmare.Things change & no-one has a right to instruct you on where to park.

Definitely a woman's handwriting

Chasingsquirrels · 27/03/2026 22:34

You have a Blue Badge - apply to the council for a disabled space in front of your house.
It won't be "your" space, but only blue badge holders will be able to park there.

That will really annoy them!

This

Star2004k · 29/03/2026 00:23

Have post it notes ready in your car, if you can’t park outside your own house obviously some other neighbor has parked there. Write a note with that registration number on and say, “ To the parking police of <road name>, <reg> parked outside my house, no spots left at the end of the road, please tell them to move so I can vacate this spot and park outside my own home” 😂😂

Perfectly worded note imo

Where do you think the OP should have parked given someone was parked outside of her house?

it was not a perfectly worded note either.

implying she's not neighbourly or considerate.

@catgirl1976

i'd write on it 'Good to see you understand I can legally park in any available place'. 'I'll happily park outside of my own house if you'd like to ensure it's free for me, but if it's not I'll park in any available place empty space. Thank you in anticipation if YOUR understanding'

& take a photo if it & shove it through their letterbox.

ILoveDaffodills · 29/03/2026 02:17

thecomedyofterrors · 27/03/2026 22:36

It’s the word ‘co-operation’ that would trigger me to ignore it. A polite request, understandable. But obedience to the anonymous parking policemen on the street- absolutely not.

Me too!!

ILoveDaffodills · 29/03/2026 02:24

Twatterati · 27/03/2026 23:35

Hahaha, yeah same - especially AFTER I’d got the council to paint a disabled space outside mine!!

Like your style!!

If there’s a single other person on the street with a blue badge, then the space in front of OP’s house will be fought over!

Aiming4Optimistic · 29/03/2026 08:40

Re getting the space reserved for a blue badge holder, what happens if OP wants to sell her house? Does the new owner need to get it removed or will it stay? Doing this might have an impact on how easy/hard it is to sell in future.

Honestly, I'd go and knock on the door and have the conversation.

I don't understand how anyone can argue that this isn't a PA note - labelling it 'polite', while policing a public area, the smiley face while combined with anonymity, makes it PA.
A truly polite note would be something along the lines of 'Hi, it's Jan from no 22. Welcome up the neighbourhood. Not sure if you're aware but the neighbours have all worked out a system to make parking easier. If you were amenable to this we park....etc'

Mummato2864 · 29/03/2026 09:00

I have the same issue in my street. We do all try to be neighbourly but if you come home and cannot park anywhere else then you park where you can. I would bin it and not think about it again but Yanbu in my opinion

MikeRafone · 29/03/2026 09:34

It all sounds like a massive game of klotski

Welshmonster · 29/03/2026 10:29

Ask the council to paint disabled space outside your house

thirdfiddle · 29/03/2026 11:10

I'd ask one of your immediate neighbours about it. Either it's them and they'll feel like a tit when you mention the blue badge, or more likely they'll say oh that's Mr Smith at number 22, ignore him he's an eejit.

I think someone has already suggested this,it may be worth contacting local council and see if you can haveadisable bay painted outside your house. The local primary street in my town has a permit holder only street because school drop offs/ pick ups were a nightmare for the residents. This could also be suggested to the council.

Presumably people are stealing the blue badges?

Because they can fetch over £1000 stolen/altered/copied
