To be annoyed by this note pushed through my door - photo

I’ve recently moved to this street.

I know it’s politely written but it’s so passive aggressive.

The “end of the road” in question has a primary school on it. There were no spaces there at 830am when I needed to park. And there was someone in the space outside my house so I parked about two door down from my house in the only possible space.

I also have a blue badge.

AIBU to be annoyed? No house number on it so not sure which neighbour sent it

I’d stick my blue badge in the window.
I have a blue badge and do try to park by my house or close. I don’t want to park in “someone else’s” spot but on the same token, I can’t be walking to end of the road if I can’t park.

i would be surprised if the op mentioned having a blue badge and it wasn’t in the window

In some areas they are treated like an invitation to break into the car and help yourself to it so people will only leave them out if the space they are in requires it.

Why would a blue badge car be more vulnerable to car theft?

Presumably people are stealing the blue badges?

Walksspecial · 28/03/2026 18:10

someone is willing to break in to a car and commit a serious crime just so they get something that will mean they can park in disabled parking?

Apparently they would.

Well it would be if they had left their name/house number and an offer to have a chat about it.
The fact it is anonymous suggests the writer knows they are being unreasonable.

But they aren’t being unreasonable? What’s unreasonable about sharing that everyone has agreed to only park in front of their own house (which would also work for OP).

Clearly others might park ad hoc occasionally and in which case, they’ve agreed to park at the end of the street so as to not inconvenience other neighbours, just because they’ve been inconvenienced.

It seems eminently sensible and reasonable. If more neighbours behaved in this way, and society with the same sentiment, we’d be in a much better position.

I’m amazed and frankly despondent and how the vast majority of people are advocating for selfish behaviours and a free for all scrap for spaces when there’s a much better way: achieved simply by working together.

Walksspecial · 28/03/2026 18:19

You could write a thesis on it perhaps?!

I agree

seemed a considered note and they didn’t hide their identity… they live in the house in front of which the op parked

Do you usually make unnecessary sarcastic comments to people who are trying to help you?

SparklyLeader · 28/03/2026 18:24

If you know who wrote it, and where they live, if it were me, I'd park there. But then, I'm an a-__le, and for me it would be worth the walk just to see if they had anything else they needed to say. Why? Because in this scenario she is the aggressor and for the future, I would want her to think twice before trying to start something with me. That's the thing with this type of claiming of public property, and other assertions of entitlement on community property, it won't end until you stop it. If she can train you on where to park, what is she going to train you on next? Are you at least getting a reward treat?

I'm perfectly relaxed thanks. Just unimpressed by your unnecessary rudeness, but don't worry, I won't be losing any sleep over it. It's clearly your problem and not mine.

BeAzureRaven · 28/03/2026 18:50

Ignore. Idiot.

Give this note and its author the attention they deserves NONE.

Netcurtainnelly · 28/03/2026 19:15

Nothing like parking issues to get the street falling out.

Dragonflytamer · 28/03/2026 19:21

It sounds like the street has a come to working solution whereby most of the time you get to park outside your house. If the space outside your house is taken, park in the holding area then move the car when the space is free.

You've moving it to a free for all.

I would guess you get to park outside your house much more often if you follow the system, since the majority of the time you'll benefit from someone else parking in the holding area than just parking in front of your house.

Pud90 · 28/03/2026 19:43

Iv had same issue with my neighbour, it annoys me SO much.
We live on a new estate: we all have 2 car driveways but otherwise parking is limited as always on these estates. She doesn’t like it if people park on the road at the side of her house- so she left a passive aggressive note on my husbands car when he parked it there once when we had a skip on the drive. I messaged her and told her I didn’t appreciate it and to come talk if she had a problem.

The thing that annoys me the most is she’s such a hypocrite! She parks there on the road every single day and they have a spare space on the drive. When they have visitors they park all over the road…. But if anyone else dares to on the street or has visitors we get notes left . she doesn’t want other people parking there and then when our cleaner came and had the audacity to park on the publicly owned road she left another note on her car and posted a rant about people parking on the community WhatsApp…. Let’s just say we no longer speak, she is blocked on WhatsApp and she is now my arch nemesis 🤣.
the biggest level of A - hole on my opinion.

PumpkinSoupIsBetterThanYouThink · 28/03/2026 09:13

At certain times of year, we park outside our neighbours three down rather than our own. This is because there is a tree outside ours that drops sap that is very damaging. We do choose the neighbour with their own off-street parking and a front hedge which means they can't see our car...

Our street has loads of off-street parking (more than houses).

Edited

That makes sense though! Whereas my neighbour’s parking habits don’t, she’s currently parked in front of ours taking up two spaces again 😵‍💫😭😂🤣 Luckily there’s currently more spaces than cars…

It's got to have been left by the person whose house you parked outside. Ignore it. I like the idea that someone has posted about a disability parking space application
