Nursery issues... album to move him?

Am I overthinking this?

I wrote an incident form with the details of a head bump. My 2.5yo fell out of my bed when he stayed with me the one night and hit his head on either the bed side table or windowsill. The windowsill is very low amd the bedside table is little and next to so depending on how far he went over would depend on where he bumped. I was asleep??? I don't have a crystal ball, but they want 'more information'

This is a nursery that reported me for nappy rash and made out I was being neglectful. He does have sensitive skin which has been attended to by GP, it was also seen the same say of the report and the gp did not note any concerns about how the rash was there.

I'm not perfect, I'm a single parent with two children and can be a little disorganised trying to manage everything on top of the two year old that switches my washing machine on the second I turn my back and is into EVERYTHING. He is just a bit of whirlwind, what exactly is there problem? Just feels like they are judging me at every chance they can... from a nursery that hasn't even sent me an invoice since Feb 2025!

If you're not happy with the nursery and you have another option then move.

Who did they report the nappy rash to?

AOBMGB · 24/03/2026 18:49

I know it’s annoying, but I would much rather my nursery be on the ball with things like this than miss a child being abused or neglected, you just never know. Try to think of it as it’s just them following procedure it’s nothing personal.

I get that, but I just get a vibe its personal.

What more information could I possible give about an overnight head bump!?

Social services. The case was pretty quickly closed but they must have made it sound pretty dramatic as police officer and social worker cane out on s47 enquiry!

That's pretty crazy for a nappy rash, I'd have moved then as I'd have lost trust in them.

Why not ask them what exactly they want to know. Find out what information they need.

See I'm not sure, I know plenty of the parents who haven't been pulled in similar circumstances.

I expect safeguarding to be taken very seriously. It is just this particular nursery is giving me grief whenever the manager gets a chance.

I asked on the way out and the deputy manager couldn't tell me as the form 'looked fine' but to ask the manager in the morning.

I did look round other places but he is really happy there and I put that before anything else at the time. It was a struggle for him to settle initially.

You will just make it look like you are trying to hide something.

Sorry - do you genuinely think that police and a social worker come out because a nursery has over dramatised nappy rash! Come on! There is way more to this story than we are being told.

I am quite happy to answer her questions, it just feels like she is targeting me, I may well be overthinking it but ya know I care what others think.

Nope. There was no other reason. They did say in the report the nursery said 'i didnt seem concerned enough'....even though I'd called the gp as soon as they rang to say it was pretty bad rash. Whether they said anything else I dont know. I cant think of anything else they would have said though.

We were seen, the enquiry was completed and the case was closed.

No.

Nappy rash unless extremely severe and prolonged, would 100% not meet s47 threshold. There must have been other concerns too.

Bearbookagainandagain · 24/03/2026 19:04

I've never filled detailed incident reports for nursery so I'm surprised that's even a thing. All they need to know is that the bump/scratch/bruise happened at home, we don't provide much explanations beyond that, and never asked us to justify anything.

They have to justify incidents at nursery, not investigate incidents at home.

That said your 2 yo shouldn't fall from your bed, put a bumper pillow or something.

He was very sore, but certainly not prolonged. He went to the gp that day and they said they had expected it to be much worse than it was using the words 'it's not that bad' , and I have to say as a someone in health care that has wiped lots of bottoms it was not as bad as they initially made out.

There was a pillow, and I have since bought a bed guard.. that is probably the second bight he has spent in my bed ever.

Are you claiming that the police and social services came to your home because of nappy rash?
