In fact, I'd go full on GB News if they tried to hide them! How will i know who I like best?

And yes, I'd also heavily judge a man for doing the same to the female athletes 🤷‍♀️

Live footage of me ^

Sorry OP but it's not lighthearted.

As you say it's total double standards.

I would too OP. No harm done as no one will know what a sexual deviant you are

Pretty normal for people to notice attractive bodies. I wouldn’t judge men for doing it either. Nobody can actually help finding someone attractive. We’re all biologically predisposed to be sexually attracted to other human beings’ physical characteristics.

Looking at people on the telly has zero impact on anyone else. It doesn’t affect the people on screen and it doesn’t affect anyone else in the room, of all you’re doing is looking and thinking.

If people are sitting there giving their partner a running commentary on the athletes’ bodies, or tagging the athletes on social media with gross comments, or generally making a big show of it, that’s different. But looking and silently thinking “Phwoaaarrr” to oneself, whether you’re a woman or a man, is completely harmless and without consequence.

Of course it is.

Jc2001 · 20/03/2026 20:37

It's this matriarchal society we live in, forcing male athletes to wear those tight fitting shorts for women's entertainment.

Just because you don’t approve, that doesn’t mean it isn’t lighthearted. Of course you’re entitled to be offended or disgusted, but that doesn’t make the intent behind it one of anything but levity.

Oh I'm sure there was an intent of levity behind the thread.

It's not a question of me being offended or disgusted. Or actually me disapproving.

I follow sport and i know about the problems women athletes and competitors have with people being more interested in what they look like than their ability and it's just plain wrong.

And if it's wrong to comment on women's physical appearance when they are going about their sport then it's also plain wrong to comment on men's.

And you defending the OP and this thread says a lot about you.

Of course it is.

How is it lighthearted to make fun of people competing in sport.
If someone came along to your place of work and started making fun of you would you consider that lighthearted?

I didn't mean I consider it lighthearted ( though I think it was the OP's intention). I meant of course it's double standards.

I don't think it's funny and I agree with you.

murasaki · 20/03/2026 21:17

It is double standards, but it's almost impossible not to notice. Those suits are unsupportive....

I don't compare though, just giggle occasionally.

I am not proud of this.

I also follow a number of sports. I’m a massive football fan and go to a lot of games at all levels from grassroots to internationals. I also watch boxing, tennis, athletics and cycling.

Commenting on athlete’s individual physical appearances at the match, or when interviewing them on TV, or tweeting at them or in the public domain - absolutely not OK.

Admitting that you notice when people in general - unnamed people - are physically attractive? That’s simply an admission that you’re human.

I know, in my head, exactly which players in my Premier League club I find the most attractive. I also know which players in my more local, lower league side I find the most attractive. I don’t go around yelling “Get your kit off lads” at games or sit there opining to other people about which player has the sexiest thighs. But I absolutely notice the players’ looks, because I’m not asexual. And I’m perfectly happy to admit that because finding human beings physically attractive is nothing to ashamed of.
