Biscoff - Bang Average but with Great Marketing

Biscoff biscuits - they’re a bit rubbish really aren’t they?

I mean, they aren’t horrible. But they’re no better than a digestive, and hob nobs are miles better.

So there it is - rubbish, but with a good marketing team.

AIBU?

I don't like them I put them in the same category as Oreos taste of nothingness but every where, I saw a biscoff egg and it gave me the irrational rage Dh likes them so we have them begrudgingly in the house !

tangobravo · 19/03/2026 13:20

Ugh I agree, they're horrible! Weird plasticky/smooth texture and sickly af. Give me a Fox's cream biccie instead anyday

Bjorkdidit · 19/03/2026 13:20

Who says they're anything but average?

My vote for 'PR better than reality' is the Magpie cafe fish and chip shop in Whitby.

To anyone from Yorkshire they're just nothing special ordinary fish and chips but to any London based features writer who's never had decent fish and chips they're out of this world.

Fox's cream now that is a biscuit 😋

Lostsadandconfused · 19/03/2026 13:23

Agreed, I don’t get the hype but Biscoff flavoured everything is everywhere.

Lomonald · 19/03/2026 13:25

My friend has a small home baking business her biscoff cheesecake phase was a low for me, thankfully it seems to be passing!

AgnesX · 19/03/2026 13:26

Speculoos are lovely little biscuits especially with a coffee, but I don't see the excitement of the spread tbh.

AlexRidersButt · 19/03/2026 13:26

"Hairdresser biscuits" according to my kids. The only time they'd have them was from my saucer while I was getting my hair cut.

Nice spice, but nothing amazing. Isn't it basically speculoos?

GlassHalfFullplease · 19/03/2026 13:28

YABU. Lidl brand crunchy biscoff spread is yum, I also like the icecreams! I did love the Lotus biscoff chocolate until they ruined it!
Hobnobs are abit "gritty", and plain digestives are a bit bland for me.

Lomonald · 19/03/2026 13:29

Oh yes Hairdresser biscuits 😀

toomuchfaff · 19/03/2026 13:29

Personally love them; they are dairy free so I can have them being intolerant.

MulberryFresser · 19/03/2026 13:32

They are ubiquitous- vegan, kosher, halal, dairy free - just need to be gluten free and everyone can join in!

I still think they are bland and taste of nothing!

Agreed. I wouldn’t eat the spread if you paid me, but the biscuits are great. I just ate 3 with a cup of tea. more interesting than a rich tea, nice crunch.
Good for a cheesecake base instead of plain digestives too.

NemesisInferior · 19/03/2026 13:36

YABVVVU. They are the king of dunking biscuits.

bridgetreilly · 19/03/2026 13:37

They’re fine. Better than a rich tea, though not as good as a rich tea finger. But I can see why they are served everywhere because they are utterly inoffensive.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/03/2026 13:38

I agree.

It's like the Emperor's New Clothes. Everyone banging on about them while I'm here with a hobnob, confused.

BillieWiper · 19/03/2026 13:38

I remember we used to have them at work before they were widely sold in supermarkets. We used to call them hotel biscuits. 🤣

I put myself off them long before the marketing and the spread and everything kicked in. Because when I was absolutely broke and had no lunch I'd have to just cram loads of those in my gob to get through the day as they were the only free food available! 🥴

ChanelLove · 19/03/2026 13:45

Proper speculoos are delicious. I think Biscoff just took off because they market themselves well and are available individually wrapped so are easy for caterers.

Oh god rich tea were always those biscuits everyone avoided, I remember in the 90s people dunking then in their tea as an attempt to give them some flavour. They taste of nothing.

pinkdelight · 19/03/2026 13:53

The biscuit form of biscoff isn't optimal, but it works well as a little extra treat kinda biccie, as it started out here on a saucer with a hot drink in some cafes. Where biscoff ROCKS is as a flavour, reaching its peak in the ice cream zone either in the biscoff ice cream lollies or the hagaan daz biscoff pots. My kids also love the biscoff spread but i daren't even go there or i'll balloon beyond all acceptable realms. I think it's exciting that such an awesome new taste has emerged in my lifetime and think it's a rare positive for human development in these dark times. So for all those reasons YABU. But digestives are nice too.

LegoLivingRoom · 19/03/2026 13:54

I love them. Those who think they taste of nothing clearly have no taste buds 😉

Biscuit12 · 19/03/2026 13:55

Oh I like them - definitely room for them in the biscuit arena

pinkdelight · 19/03/2026 13:56

It's a damn sight nicer than Oreo, which tastes of almost nothing despite the calorie count, has a crap soggy texture and yet has proliferated EVERYWHERE!

canuckup · 19/03/2026 14:07

Oreos taste like lard

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/03/2026 14:10

I can't think of a single advert for Biscoff. Where might I have seen one?
