Biscoff - Bang Average but with Great Marketing

Biscoff biscuits - they’re a bit rubbish really aren’t they?

I mean, they aren’t horrible. But they’re no better than a digestive, and hob nobs are miles better.

So there it is - rubbish, but with a good marketing team.

AIBU?

I don't why everything has to taste of them. Wherever you go in the world, you get offered this and Oreo flavours in everything. It's like we're now only catering to the palattes of six year olds.

I have never eaten a speculoos or an Oreo and thought, gosh this is a taste experience I would like to extend to all sweet treats forever more.

Appleandcidergravy · 19/03/2026 14:20

I loved biscoff when daughter and I were dairy free, it's difficult to find something that we could both have that wasn't the expense of free from...
Which means that at 5 she still loves them as it tastes like a treat from when she was 18months....
Apart from that there are much better biscuits out there- but I quite like making biscoff blondies...

Who says they're anything but average?

My vote for 'PR better than reality' is the Magpie cafe fish and chip shop in Whitby.

To anyone from Yorkshire they're just nothing special ordinary fish and chips but to any London based features writer who's never had decent fish and chips they're out of this world.

To really appreciate the Magpie, you need to sit in not take away. It looks tiny from outside but goes back for miles. And the menu inside is fish of all sorts, not just trad fish'n'chips. I still remember that meal fondly.

Ugh I agree, they're horrible! Weird plasticky/smooth texture and sickly af. Give me a Fox's cream biccie instead anyday

I daren't by Fox's cream biscuits. I open a pack and whoosh! there's an empty packet.

Oreos are horrible.

magicscares · 19/03/2026 14:45

I’ve never got the hype over biscoff, but others all seem to love it so I thought I was just odd. They are just the freebie ‘meh’ biscuits you get with a coffee. IMO it was as veganism got very popular, bc they are vegan they became a go to sweet treat.

Ube · 19/03/2026 15:14

I quite like them.
There always seems to be a craze on the go.
Salted caramel, caramelised biscuit/biscoff, dubai/pistachio. Ube is the latest one apparently, which I'd like to try.

Oblivionnnnn · 19/03/2026 15:16

The thing that gives me the boak the most is a biscoff cheesecake with half a dozen actual biscuits shoved in the top. Who needs this much sugar?? It’s revolting and they just taste like processed shite.

Oblivionnnnn · 19/03/2026 15:17

The word speculoos just makes me think of getting a smear test 🤣

Catisheavyonmylap · 19/03/2026 15:18

I bought some biscoff cadburys eggs - don’t make my mistake, it just doesn’t work!

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/03/2026 14:10

I can't think of a single advert for Biscoff. Where might I have seen one?

Same.

I don’t recall ever seeing them in an advert either.

I’m wondering if it is because they have a signature look to them like Oreo’s, Ferrer Rocher, etc.. that it may seem like it.

I’m fine about Biscoff.

Nutella however.. ugh. It taste horrible to me. The awful aftertaste puts me off of it. It reminds me too much of some type of artificial sweetener.

Fizbosshoes · 19/03/2026 15:41

I have the same theory about Shakespeare, I think he must have had a great publicist! 🤣

CeeJay81 · 19/03/2026 16:02

The biscuits arent that great really. The spread on the other hand is like crack! I only buy it occasionally cause its so unhealthy and I can polish off a jar in no time! Biscoff cheesecake is also very yummy too.

BrimfulofSacha · 19/03/2026 16:05

I quite like the biscuits but they aren't my first pick. The spread is vile though. It's just so oily

BotterMon · 19/03/2026 16:09

Biscoff is food of the devil. It seems to have crept into everything.

Lotus biscuits have been around for almost 100 years but the UK seems to have only just discovered the flavour.

Julen7 · 19/03/2026 16:11

I like them as I think of them as the dieter’s biscuit, I can have them with a coffee and feel I’m not having loads of calories. Could be deluding myself about that though.

Fizbosshoes · 19/03/2026 15:41

Hard disagree, and I reckon he would’ve been underwhelmed by Biscoff too.

Yeah the biscuits are blah but I love the spread.

Rick steins fish and chips is my contribution.. really expensive but the chips were the worst I’ve had. Took ages to get an expensive shit meal because the hype and therefore queue were huge

Went to a normal chippy the next day and they were amazing.

Thank goodness its not just me then. Grin

nomas · 19/03/2026 16:38

YANBU, the most rubbish biscuit ever.

The look of the Biscoff spread makes me heave.

I would take supermarket own brand Nice biscuits over Biscoff.

Catisheavyonmylap · 19/03/2026 15:18

Anything Cadbury is disgusting, and they don't use biscoff, it is some sort of vile cream.

Notonmyclock · 19/03/2026 17:05

I love Biscoff/speculoos and am delighted that I don't have to go on holiday to get them easily. They remind me of childhood family holidays when we'd get excited about things like speculoos biscuits, exotic jam flavours, the massive stationery section in French supermarkets, and a lemonade called Pssht (or something similar).

Oreos are disgusting.

Lynchpinny · 19/03/2026 17:59

Biscoff crème eggs need to be killed with fire. A colossal misstep.

IsItSnowing · 19/03/2026 18:07

I love them and the spread. I could eat far too many of them but try not to. I'm vegan so they're a nice treat. I ate them before the recent hype though.

GellerYeller · 19/03/2026 18:23

I like the biscuits but not the sickly spread or any other iteration- Biscoff cheesecake etc.
Oreos used to be good, now they taste bland and the filling is a greasy nothingness instead of creamy.
There are better fish and chip places in Whitby. Last time we went to the Magpie the tables were so close, the back of my chair was touching the person’s behind me. food was fine but it’s overhyped IMHO.

nutbrownhare15 · 19/03/2026 18:26

I've always wondered why anyone would want Biscoff flavoured cakes.
