Biscoff - Bang Average but with Great Marketing

Biscoff biscuits - they’re a bit rubbish really aren’t they?

I mean, they aren’t horrible. But they’re no better than a digestive, and hob nobs are miles better.

So there it is - rubbish, but with a good marketing team.

Agree. A marketing triumph. The biscuits are perfectly nice but nothing amazing but they’ve ignited this whole biscoff as a flavour trend that I don’t get - somehow manages to be simultaneously OTT sickly and really boring. I tried a chocolate bar filled with the Biscoff paste recently and it was so sweet it was actually quite horrible.

I’ve said this here before but it’s a real pet peeve of mine when people make a muffin or cheesecake then just serve it with a whole Biscoff, biscuit or chocolate bar stuck out of the top.
To me this is like making a nice cottage pie then slamming a pork pie on top as garnish. I don’t get it.

I quite like a Lotus biscuit. There's a tiktok "hack" where you insert lotus biscuits into Greek yogurt and leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours and it's meant to taste like biscoff cheesecake. I've never had biscoff cheesecake but I did try this recipe and I was rather nice.

Now we’ve covered Biscoff, I’d like to also cover the marketing triumphs that are Pimm’s (shit weak sangria) and Aperol (bitter, so so bitter).

Spare a thought for those of us who can't eat dairy -and therefore nearly every biscuit known to man is off limits, so when provided with biscoff as the option you have to look pleased even though they aren't very nice.

Loved them when I only ever got one at the hairdressers. Nice little treat. Now they're everywhere and they're shit. Don't get me started on the horror of a spreadable paste of it.

Oh god rich tea were always those biscuits everyone avoided, I remember in the 90s people dunking then in their tea as an attempt to give them some flavour. They taste of nothing.

My Mum used to give me them when I’d had an upset stomach so I just associate them with that 🤢
