I'm really happy that at work I am the only woman in the team. I didn't enjoy being on an all female team.

😄😄 now this is an interesting one

I feel like diversity is important

I also feel that women are human and can sometimes be vicious in a different, less obvious way, to me

I wish everyone would stop having Botox and GLP1s (when not obese) as it’s raising the bar unnecessarily high for everyone else and I can’t be bothered to pay for that stuff. In real life I would say ‘oh everyone should do what makes them feel great blah blah’

Anyone who drives a massive, heavy 4x4 in town is a selfish, wanky tosser. They should all be rounded up into a chain gang and forced to repair the potholes.

What about the electric vehicle drivers then?

Veganism is the 21st Century of self flagellation.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 18/03/2026 14:33

No, going to bed at 9pm and getting up at 5am does not make you an intrinsically better person than someone who goes to bed at 2am and gets up at 10.

I totally agree with this @ExOptimist . No one ever told me they admired me for staying up til midnight or doing laundry at 11pm, but I'm supposed to be in awe of people who do it in reverse.

I worked in a job a few years ago with flexible start times and the 8am starters were always turning their nose up at the 'lazy' late starters at 9.30. They sailed out the door at 4.30 and never acknowledged that we stayed longer and did the same job, plus often dealing with an end of day crisis that arose, often relating to their work. Yet if we left something to be finished in the early morning they would just throw it back when we arrived in because it's our work. Still annoys me all these years later!

I've found this attitude of smug early birds to be fairly consistent in my life.

MNetters who announce “I didn’t want to read and run” before imparting their wisdom, really aren’t as important as they like to sound.

No-one knows or cares so no need to make it sound as though you’re doing the OP a favour, by taking time out of your busy life.

I think it's usually about bumping the post so more people see it.

Some posts never get replies, so even a less than ideal first reply is helpful.

Oh I could have chosen far worse smilies to use!
That was just to show it was simply my opinion, not a fact.

I do wish people didn’t get so offended by everything nowadays. You aren’t always going to agree with everyone, but this constant reporting of posts nowadays is really tedious.

I’m happy to hear differing views to mine. I wouldn’t report you if I didn’t agree with you. Even if you were rude to me, I wouldn’t report you.

I recently had a post deleted. It was a post where I was actually trying to help someone regarding who they wanted to vote for in the Scottish General Election in May.

I have to say, I can’t stand the woman she wants to vote for as she surrounds herself with the worst of men while claiming she is a “women’s rights” advocate. She’s not. She’s an anti trans advocate. But that’s by the by.

Then someone said I am a bully obviously as my post was removed.

It was a link to a crowd funder for the person she wanted to vote for!

TBH, I once owned a forum, and most of the nonsense is, imo, carried out in private messages.

I used taking away that facility as a punishment.

Can’t remember ever deleting posts, but I used to split threads when there were people derailing them.

I agree with you that people should be able to agree to disagree.

I don’t think half the people who reply on mumsnet have ever had a relationship or children never mind being in a current relationship.

the way some people answer like a marriage is a transaction & you should walk away & screw someone over rather than fix things or work together as a partnership is really bizarre

People with expensive powerful cars who toodle around at 10 mph under the speed limit should have the car taken away and given to me and get a picanto instead.

Most obese people got that way through their own doing by eating their feelings or pure greed. Eating less and moving more does work for most people but you have to stick at it for life and eat and exercise to whatever our tdee is. Food noise is a thing but we can, and should, say no to the greedy gremlin in our heads most of the time. Carbs are not evil, they are just food and life without doughnuts would be sad.
More people could, and should, do the school run on foot where possible. I’m looking at you lazy fucks who live a ten minute safe and pleasant walk from school . Your child might benefit from some fresh air and exercise, as would you.

I think this applies to a large number of people on the internet in general. They talk about life in theoretical terms, as if life is something they observe rather than do.

Also something I haven't said out loud because I can't really articulate it but there's this thing around books where people will denounce a book if it doesn't follow a specific checklist of morality. I'm thinking of books like It Ends With Us. People wanted a morally pure story and ending and everywhere I looked on book related social media people were going on and on about how terrible it was - and it was always based on the fact that the man with the stupid name was in some ways a sympathetic character. But I stayed up all night reading that book because I found a lot of it relatable. My own experiences with domestic violence both as a child and as an adult was human, not a perfect story with a perfect ending. It's something there will quite literally never be closure on for my family. So sometimes it's good to read what you relate to and not just someone else's idea of a good outcome.

So my opinion is that books tell stories, they're not checklists.

ManyATrueWord · 18/03/2026 14:58

Anyone who insists that sandwiches, scones and cake served between 3pm and 5pm is "High Tea" is not only wrong but also lacking in social awareness. Triple minus points when they have been told politely and away from people and still insist on saying "high tea" all the time. Also three tiered cake stands at home are overkill and really quite naff when you take them out of tea shops.

Namingbaba · 18/03/2026 14:59

I find professional newborn baby photo shoots creepy. And they seem to make it worse with the costumes and poses. What's that all about?

Most young babies aren't cute. You need to wait a few months to get the cute look.

chocolatemademefat · 18/03/2026 15:02

it was a little embarrassing how ugly our royal family was prior to Kate and Meghan marrying in and raising the standard. I secretly suspect that it made the world see Brits as somewhat unattractive by extension.

I snorted. This is so true.

People who listen to music without headphones on public transport or have loud conversations on loud speaker should have their phones removed and smashed to pieces

I agree with you.

re the books total agreement too & agree with it ends with us, I read it & related too.

The todd & Theo story in Corrie also gets to me, they are doing it so well, I watch it & I thinK I was Todd & I wanted Billy to save him so badly.

I’m sorry you are able to relate, everyones story is different & important too even afterwards when you aren’t being abused you are still living it everyday in your actions. It would be nice to not relate but its so important to tell these stories because if they even help just one person to realise their situation & that they can break free, its worth it.

Lots of good comes from it. Life is full of competition, winning and loosing, needing to work as a team, and they learn this in school. The look on my year 5 daughters face when she scored her first goal in the school netball team was priceless, and the pride and confidence it brought her. And equally the experience of loosing the following week and as the team captain, needing to support her team to feel OK about this and explore positively what they could do better is an amazing life skill.

Some children don't have the opportunities to do these sports outside school, due to parents not being able to afford them, so having the opportunity at school is vital.

What needs to change is parents attitudes, pushy parents moaning when their little darling isn't picked every time, shouting from the sidelines etc, moaning at their child when they don't score etc.

Yes, there should be variety between team sports, dance, yoga etc. But it shouldn't be got rid of completely

Life expectancy in this country would go
up if competitive sport was banned in schools.

Because for every county-level competitor it produces, ninety-nine kids are put off exercise for life. Why, as adult, would you choose to put time and effort into something that you were told, as a child, you were crap at, that you were letting everyone down, that you weren’t trying, that you weren’t really hurt or cold or exhausted, that you were an embarrassment. No other lesson is taught like that. Why is sport?

And, actually, I wasn’t dreadful at sport. I was average. Though in competitive sport, by definition, average isn’t good enough. But there were kids who just weren’t good or even passable at it, and even as a kid myself I thought, “Why are you teachers making these poor sods do this? Why are you insisting they be humiliated every Thursday afternoon?”

People who don’t have a tv are always insufferable wankers who go on and on about it. They always want to watch it when they come round to your fucking house!

EcoChica1980 · 18/03/2026 15:32

Parents who don't/can't control their kids in pubs and resutrants should take them home.
