Oh the irony….

It was responding to a PP saying that not all behaviour problems are linked to neurodiversity.

it is incredibly irritating on here that if people suggest neurodivergence as a possibility, many posters come along and make sarcastic comments. In my experience, nobody ever says it must be neurodivergence, they just wonder if it has been considered, which seems reasonable to me as it’s not rare.

Wtf? My daughter may give me colds but she doesn't eat shit, sniff/lick arses, roll in mud/shit or have a smelly greasy film on her whole body 🤢

Eugh, my dog has never given me a virus.

God, yes!

School: "We don't know why girls aged 11-14 are switching off from exercise and avoiding PE, it's a real problem."

Also school: "Okay you body conscious little dumplings, get stripped down in front of 29 of your peers, put on this unflattering gym-skirt that shows half your arse and this nylon t-shirt that's going to cling to everything and is made of 100% itch. We're going out to play hockey in -1C pissing rain. Anyone who moans about it will be labelled a wet blanket weakling and made to feel like a pathetic loser."

One of my DC doesn't do team sports, it's literally written into their EHCP. Instead they go do things like yoga, pilates, dancing, climbing, skateboarding, etc. Give kids more ownership over their PE lessons instead of shoving them into football or hockey and they will develop an enjoyment of exercise/fitness.

100% this!

I thought I was terrible at sports because I was bad at throwing and catching and therefore dreaded PE lessons where id be the last picked for teams. I was also slow at sprinting, or indeed anything up to 800m

It turned out that I was good at distance running (not fast, but I can keep going for ages), I'm strong at weights, a fast rower, co-ordinated at aerobics, graceful at ballroom dancing, a reasonable markswoman and archer, and fairly natural on a horse. Thank goodness for 6th form sports options or I might never have tried exercising again!

When parents proudly tell me their child still believes in Father Christmas past the age of about six, I smile and say “Aw, how lovely” but what I’m actually thinking is “That kid must be a bit thick”.

Same ! lol

BillieWiper · 18/03/2026 13:56

I suppose I wouldn't ever want to say a child was unattractive or had anything negative about their appearance.
Though obviously some kids aren't absolute beauties the default has to be that all kids are 'cute'. I think?

My 2p:

There's something faintly ridiculous about grown men who carry their snooker cues around with them in a little case.

What else would they carry them round in? Just loose? Sticking out of the top of a bag for life?

Genuinely curious and this one made me laugh but is also quite specific! Can’t really see another way around it.

There’s a funny skit Ricky gervais does on this

I disagree with your use of the word funny

Me too flagpolesitta

We were so convincing and he ‘wanted’ to believe 😂

I often wonder why most people who do that public competitive under-eating thing are overweight.

Like, I obviously don’t believe you that you can’t manage the other half of your side salad because you ate last Tuesday so are still stuffed when you’re clearly consuming ten of thousands of calories too many weekly…..!

Edited

Made me think of those eating competitions you see. It will have so many larger people defeated but the winners are always a bloke that look 3 stone underweight

when people state the love for their dog is the same love I have for my children

The absolute love I feel for my dog is real - I love her to bits. I don't like children.

zigazigaaaing · 18/03/2026 14:08

Some kids are just naughty or have quirks

Wtf? My daughter may give me colds but she doesn't eat shit, sniff/lick arses, roll in mud/shit or have a smelly greasy film on her whole body 🤢

It's all about building immunity to different bugs. The cleaner someones home and lifestyle is, then the less likely they are to have built up much resistance to every day germs.

However, I am not suggesting that people forego personal hygiene, washing one's hands after being to the loo, and cleaning one's teeth daily is very important, as is having clean hands before preparing food. But having dust free houses, and immaculte carpets (unless you have a baby who crawls on the floor), is overkill, and potentially more unhealthy than a bit of general dirt.

For people like me, who love having their dog sleeping on/in the bed with them, we probably have better mental health, as well as physical health (not only does having close frequent contact with a dog that you love usually have great benefits where building up immunity is concerned, but it also usually means that the dog and it's walker get much more outdoor exercise than the general populace! Well trained, and established family dogs, definitely have great affects on their human's mental health as well).

May I suggest Satin, that your DD may actually gain some health benefits if she were to roll about in some mud - but not shit obviously - and jump in some muddy puddles, and I maintain that even if she is 32 rather than two years old 😉

TinyGingerCat · 18/03/2026 14:09

People in teams calls with 200+ people on who post in the chat they have to leave to take a call, answer the door, go to another meeting. Nobody cares and you’ve distracted everyone on the call.

NoisyViewer · 18/03/2026 14:12

BePunnyLilacCrow · 18/03/2026 13:10

Literally this.. Some people even say they prefer their dog to their spouse!

The amount of times I’ve had to nod along to these type of comments because to get into it means a stupid argument. The level offence of saying no you don’t. 😂 whilst thinking if that dog died tomorrow we’d be sitting here having a cuppa the same next week like we’ve done for the past 6 months, then within 3 months we’d be scouring the internet for the replacement

Dontlletmedownbruce · 18/03/2026 14:12

OPs who start threads with the intention of posting nasty comments about men without context make me cringe. Sometimes i feel kind of sorry for them but I also think they are dangerous and no better than incels.

ACIGC · 18/03/2026 14:14

I'm really happy that at work I am the only woman in the team. I didn't enjoy being on an all female team.

Nobody should be allowed to vote unless they can name 3 policies in the manifesto of the party they are voting for.

This. And it's the reason I didn't vote until recent years. It would've just been hypocritical, given the lacklustre interest/knowledge I had in politics at that point.

I describe my son as having a learning disability rather than having autism because autism has now become meaningless as a description.

Anyone who does triathlons is self obsessed/selfish. See also most marathon runners.

so a single person living alone and impacting no one by training for a marathon is selfish? What an odd take

Amberlynnswashcloth · 18/03/2026 14:26

Most dogs are hideously ugly.

Just because everyone is doing it or approves of it, doesn't make it moral or okay.

While I smile and say 'mmm' to the neighbourhood bin monitor as he goes on yet another rant about the huge commercial bin on the other side of the road, I'm mostly fantasising about upending him into it.

I posted about being raped. 2 posters on the thread kept leaving laughing emojis. When I asked them to stop they left more. I’m made of quite strong stuff, but I posted asking for help. Knowing that people found it funny means I will never make that mistake again. They wouldn’t have done it if other posters could see they were laughing.

I know similar happened to people talking about their child’s disabilities. One woman was laughed at when talking about miscarriage.

Anyone who thinks being able to leave a laughing emoji is more important than the distress MN users were experiencing needs to check their empathy levels

Edited

Oh good grief, that's awful, I'm so sorry.

I was irritated that the laughter emoji had gone. Your post shows me I was wrong.

How can people be so cruel?
