But your list is what does need fixing in the country. Labour just will not fix anything.
Some of it like housing is very basic to fix as well.

No, a calm head like not rushing into a pointless war killing many innocent people.

This isn't a thread about Labour. It's a thread about if Reform were to win the election. Their right wing ideology and stated political intent are no friends to the people who currently support them, and give them power and the impact of that would be swiftly apparant.
If people have turned from Labour because they feel they've not made things better, how much more quickly will they turn from a party who makes their lives worse?
When I'm musing there might be a swing to the left after a failed Reform government, I wasn't thinking of the Labour Party in its current form.

Blueharmonica · 15/03/2026 17:14

Going by polling intentions, it’s a 95% chance that Reform will form the next Government. Every punitive tax, legislation or authoritarian policy such as the blasphemy laws introduced by the Government only further increases the public anger and increases Reform’s majority. If you think you’ll struggle to live under a Reform government, then it’s time to start making exit plans.

Polling is irrelevant until they actually have viable candidates, and they’ll need 650 to fight a general election. A very tall order for a protest party with no infrastructure. In the meantime, as with UKIP before them, they will balls up running local councils, Farage will get bored, and the whole project will collapse.

Management and leadership are actually very difficult, and blowhards never have the stamina or patience. I speak as a blowhard. I wouldn’t touch management with a barge pole.

The latest poll of polls shows Reform would fall short of a majority. I think support has peaked. Some supporters seem to be going to Lowe's party.

I’m not a fan of Farage or his odd affection for Putin or Trump. However, I think the debate has moved on in terms of acceptable views and on immigration, specifically on illegal immigration I think the majority of the population agree with the policies that reform say they would introduce. 14 years of tories and immigration was totally out of control. Labour then elected on a promise to stop the boats and they haven’t, another failed promise. Reform are an option for people who are concerned that every year tens of thousands of undocumented, mainly young men who have totally different views on women’s rights, gay people etc are coming to the uk permanently and costing the tax payer multiple billions of pounds.

Has Farage set out how he will stop the boats?

Has Farage set out how he will stop the boats?

Yes, multiple times. I’m not going to search for you and post links. You will have to read for yourself.

He’s going to redirect them to the sunlit uplands.

This was the podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/pt/podcast/the-news-agents/id1640878689?l=en-GB&i=1000711170191

The report from the Reform club starts at 18 minutes in.

Transcript of the relevant section:

“I'm all for people coming to this country legally. Get a visa. If I want to go to Spain, which I will be doing because that's where I want to retire to, I've got to get a visa. I've got to have 28,000 euros in the bank for myself.

Pre Brexit, you would have just been able to move there.

Well, yeah. And believe it or not, they didn't tell the truth about that. If they explained everything about Brexit, like, oh, you won't be able to travel as many times as you want to Spain, freedom of movement, I would have probably voted not to leave it.

You would?

Yeah.

Well, that was Farage's big idea.

Well, everyone changes their mind.

But you're the owner of Britain's first Reform club. And you actually say, as a result, if you'd known now what you'd known about Brexit, you'd have voted remain?

I probably would have done, yeah. Well, I didn't know. It's too late now, isn't it?”

“I'm all for people coming to this country legally. Get a visa. If I want to go to Spain, which I will be doing because that's where I want to retire to, I've got to get a visa. I've got to have 28,000 euros in the bank for myself.

You stated up thread that Brexit was 'preventing him personally from realising his dream to live in Spain one day' but your quote says he still intends to retire to Spain - with a visa.

Yeah, and then he went on to say that he realised Brexit was a mistake because of this barrier, and he wouldn’t have voted for it had he been told.

Of course, he was told. He just chose to believe the liars, and is doing so again, despite acknowledging that they are liars.

Thick as mince.

Including Southern Ireland?

Yes - we have a Common Travel Area with Ireland;

Irish and UK citizens have the right to live, travel, work and study within the Common Travel Area.

Irish and UK citizens can live in either country and enjoy associated rights and privileges, including:

  • Access to social benefits
  • Access to healthcare
  • Access to social housing supports
  • The right to vote in certain elections

He can't be that thick if he has sufficient means to be eligible for a non-lucrative visa to retire to Spain.

(I've found an unedited version of the interview on YouTube);

'I can still get a non-lucrative visa and move over and retire there...'

catinateacup · 14/03/2026 23:58

Daft as a brush

Freedom of movement didn't mean you could just get a job in another EU Country.

That’s exactly what it meant 🤦‍♀️

Edited

How are you going to live there and deal with society without knowing the language?

Freakingfurious11 · 15/03/2026 17:56

I must be delusional about this wonderful government we have at the moment and how great the UK is.

Truly baffled if people cannot actually come out of their estates and see just how bad things are 🤦‍♀️ but let’s pretend that’s not the case and blame reform for what ifs.

You're right, because I didn't remember a podcast from a year ago verbatim, the substantial point is invalidated.

And there are plenty of nitwits with money.

There’s no country called Southern Ireland.)

Anyone voting Reform knows what they're getting. Incompetence, treason, misogyny, racism and a whopping rise in taxes.

So OP, who else would you like to win, Labour who are destroying the economy, the countryside, British Tradition, and job prospects for the young? The Greens who call rape victims liars, who want open borders? Anti semetic and will gladly bend over for the Muslim vote? Maybe a coalition of the two to really fuck women over? Especially white women. On the plus side, the Greens leader says he can get you bigger boobs.

Here you go. 18 seats short of a majority.

I hope you will ask my question in return.

If reform won the next election I couldn't bear living here but thanks to farage there's nowhere to go
