To be a junior partner in a coalition with Reform could be the final nail in the Conservative's coffin. Look what happened to the Lib Dems in 2015.

But don't the lib dems now have more mps than ever?

Yes, but they were annihilated in 2015. Their seats went from 57 to eight. In 2017 they managed 12 seats. In 2019, 11 seats.

So it took them almost a decade and three GEs to recover.

Yes..my point was they did recover. So it wasn't the end the final nail in the coffin

Well yes the Tory Party could, like a vampire, rise again.

Going by that Rayner could fling the curtains open on Starmer pretty soon.

Absolutely nobody is good but reform have a manifesto that could be mistaken for a historical record from Germany circa 1933

It would be incredible helpful if you could point out how it could be mistaken for this when Reform don’t have a manifesto.

They may not have a manifesto but their potential policies are listed on their website.

Autarky is a German policy pretty similar to Point 10 on the Reform website, no?

Point 15 on the Reform website has similar connotations to the German Labour Service, as well as Strength Through Joy.

Germany and Reform also clearly share similar views on the armed forces and the re-establishment of a larger military.

Germany enacted many policies geared towards women and families. The Law for Encouragement of Marriage is arguably similar to Reforms proposals for tax cuts for women who reproduce.

Slightly less tangible at this stage, but programs like the Hitler Youth aren’t dissimilar from the proposals Reform make on their website re education either.

so yes, I can see the similarities, absolutely.

This year is certainly going to be interesting.

Labour's current comms strategy appears to be deflection and not answering the question. KS at PMQs was a travesty - even the Speaker appeared to be uncomfortable. I then saw two Labour MPs on TV yesterday asked direct questions about Labour's performance and the upcoming local elections and all they could say was 'What about Kemi? What about Farage?'

They should be renamed the What About party.

celticnations · 22/03/2026 23:26

With a Reform UK PM, relations with the Celtic/Gaelic Nations will be interesting!

Yes , although I'm not sure that would bother them as they are essentially an English Nationalist Party. Their new recruit from the Tories, Danny Kruger , does seem to want to revisit the Good Friday Agreement and potentially kick off the Troubles 2.0. But he is a bit of a philosopher. Farage and Tice will probably shush him up.

But all this is hypothetical. With those polling numbers anything could happen. And the polls were done before Nigel's hero did a Liz Truss on the global economy.

I will always remember David Lamey on question time when Labour were in opposition being asked what Labour's policy on something was, he said we don’t need policies, we’re in opposition my job is to oppose the Government. - so what did people actually expect when they’re in power

I'm betting on a Conservative/Reform coalition. Reform will shake up the Conservatives with new ideas, the Conservatives will rein in some of Reform's untenable policies.

Oh dear lord what a vile thought

Anything not involving Reform would be better.

KatiePricesKnickers · 26/03/2026 06:12

If the Labour back benchers block Shabana Mahmood’s policies, then it’s (rightfully) goodbye Labour and hello Reform.

Get writing to your MP’s supporting her policies.

So you’ll be voting Restore Britain then? Or are you going to vote Green and have a country without borders hoping its leader can hypnotise the reserves in the Bank of England and geographical size of the country together with its natural resources to grow???

I'll be voting for whoever is mostly likely not to allow Reform in at the time thanks. I don't want us to be the dreadful country that Reform will turn us into and I don't for a minute want someone like Farage to have any type of power, I believe the man is dangerous and disgusting.

celticnations · 26/03/2026 12:38

Anyone else watch Farage & his Ilk walk petulantly out of PMQs this week?

What childish pricks.

Tory Reform Coalition!

Aargh!

Just "NO!"

Same. I will use the keep Reform out tool to identify where I should place my tactical vote.
Its not just about their policies, its about the extremely low level of candidates that stand for them. As PP pointed out, they are struggling to find enough candidates, because mouthing off support for them in the pub doesn't seem to translate to a willingness to do some graft. So they seem to be resorting to sticking a turquoise rosette on anything with a pulse willing to stand. The quality in my area has been shocking, candidates literally unable to string together a coherent sentence.

celticnations · 26/03/2026 13:06

Only the SNP can keep Reform out in my area - Nairn.

I am not surprised after KS blatantly refused to answer Farage’s question which was a yes or no answer. And for the second week in a row.

The PM is behaving badly in PMQs - Kemi Badenoch asked him six times last week if he spoke directly to Peter Mandelson and he did not answer once, instead twisting his replies back on her.

Even the Speaker has had to clarify twice that he has no control over what answers the PM gives.

Why should he? Farage never answers a straight without lying.

BIossomtoes · 28/03/2026 08:27

PMQs is pure theatre. The leader of the opposition goading and the PM fighting the urge to take the bait. Childish and pointless.

I think most are realising Starmer is particularly bad at PMQs including not answering. More commentary on that finally.

I think most of the very few people who take any interest in PMQs agree with Tom Tugendhat whose assessment on Question Time this week was that it’s pointless posturing.
