To think I have the right to be upset about my hair?

(Please note I did stand up for myself and they are bringing me in for a chat but I’m so angry)

I bought new extensions, the salon were suppose to lighten my hair as well (only a couple of shades lighter to an ashy brunette)

Now I’m copper and the blend on the extensions is non-existent. I paid £600 for this.

Did they do a strand test? Was your hair dyed before?

Not BU to be annoyed or disappointed but sounds like they’re going to sort it.

SmudgeButt · 14/03/2026 18:00

Well I'd be upset at being charged £600 to have anything done to my hair. But that's just me. I was taken aback when my regular guy upped his prices and I now have to pay £30 for a hair cut. Granted he does do a terrific job.

SoScarletItWas · 14/03/2026 18:00

Pic just loaded. I see what you mean about the blend.

Jamesblonde2 · 14/03/2026 18:42

SIX HUNDRED POUNDS??!!!

35965a · 14/03/2026 18:43

Wow I see why you’re upset especially given the price! When you have a ‘chat’ be firm with what you want - refund or sorting or both.

JLou08 · 14/03/2026 18:45

That looks like something a child could do. Definitely not a professional standard. I'm guessing it wasn't a trainee is you paid £600?

Elflife · 14/03/2026 18:55

I can see why you're upset. It does look coppery and the blend is - well - not blended. At £600 you'd expect a really good job.

Yourangduckie · 14/03/2026 19:07

Sorry op

Your hair looks like a rich copper colour with those 90s big chunks of different shades throughout and the hair extensions are just sitting on top. You have done the right thing telling them. I would ask for a full refund and then try another hairdressers because I wouldn't have any trust for the first place. Hope you manage to get your hair sorted soon.

Owly11 · 14/03/2026 19:11

That looks awful.

Favouritefruits · 14/03/2026 19:17

My goodness, I think my eight year old could have done a better job. That’s one of the worst I’ve seen on mumsnet! I hope you didn’t pay! The extensions look dreadful.

OriginalUsername2 · 14/03/2026 19:18

That’s shocking! I hope they rectify it for you. I take it the £600 included the extensions?

Well you have to pay for the extensions before the appointment - which I do get as if I didn’t come back then they are down £300/£400 for an item they might not be able to use.

But yeah … I’ve gone from crying to just angry now. I’m not even sure how he let me leave as I wouldn’t want my professional name attached to this hideous mess. It’s about 50 shades of brass.

Yup. Sadly that’s exactly what they look like, but it’s my real hair sitting on top of- but now that’s been absolutely fried. I have made it quite clear I won’t be having him near my hair again.

The hair extensions don’t look good quality. What brand have they used? How long is your actual hair? It can be quite hard to get someone to colour your hair to match extensions and it’s easier to blend if you have them a similar length or not much longer than your own hair. I only have mine for volume. I had a bad experience like this once and had paid a similar amount of money. I feel your pain. It is gutting.

Are you one of those people who reply on Facebook groups ‘has anyone seen this cat?’ ‘No I haven’t.’ ‘Can anyone recommend a good Chinese restaurant locally?’ ‘No, don’t like Chinese food.’

not everything is about you

just move on to next thread.

And sorry OP, it’s not a great job. Hope you can get it sorted.

Beauty Works. They don’t look good because he put them through a bleach bath. I’d say they are 3” longer than my actual hair. It’s just very short around my face.

Fucking hell. They've really done a number on you there. That deserves a full refund and grovelling apology.

Breadcat24 · 14/03/2026 21:49

I think the worst thing is all the broken dry split stuff and the step. Did the treatment they did make it like this? It is going to need a major cut to get that frazzled stuff off

1983Louise · 14/03/2026 21:56

Did he come recommend to you, I'm guessing you checked reviews etc. I'm sorry he's made such a mess, I can understand why you're upset x

It’s the bleach and now with the colour it is, well it looks worse because I feel it highlights it. I look like a brunette who’s tried to go blonde and I’ve been left with multiple warm brassy shades. When all I wanted was to be slightly lighter .

I’ve been to him before for hair extension maintenance, but he’s never coloured my hair before.

I just want a boost to feel better, have a slightly newer look. And I left the salon and sat in my car crying, which yes people might think is pathetic - but feeling like you look shit does a real number on your confidence.

I can understand that, we all want to feel good about ourselves, I'm sorry it's upset you so much. Hopefully it can be sorted out, I'm sure you'll look lovely once it is x

Pyjamatimenow · 14/03/2026 22:18

Why did he put them through a bleach bath? You can’t lighten hair extensions. How old were the extensions?

Without wanting to sound rude, the ends all look very damaged if after a haircut 👀

At the risk of derailing, why can't you lighten extensions? If they're real hair, surely you can?
