When you are 60 + and are thin but no muscle and you cannot walk ...

What are you going to do when you are 60 and can no longer use your facial muscles due to muscle atrophy?

OhWise1 · 11/03/2026 17:59

Op please can you comment on the price list of 65 online uk pharmacists, nonebof them charging as much as £265

Doesn't explain why YOU care

PurpleDisco · 11/03/2026 18:09

@Enyastar I’m assuming you’re Irish, so out of interest did you order from Ireland or the UK?

ItsmeMargo · 11/03/2026 18:09

Enyastar · 11/03/2026 17:33

O i and others have created the fear. But from what i can see the arrogance in these companies is now 'all consuming'. Give it 6 months....

I’m wasted on here.

SpecialAgentMaggieBell · 11/03/2026 18:10

🐂 💩 OP. No one pays £265 for the lowest dose of Mounjaro or Wegovy!

PuzzledObserver · 11/03/2026 18:12

Firtreefiona · 11/03/2026 16:26

Indeed. And I can’t think of a much cheaper and more pleasurable way to put the weight on than injections!

Sorry, it was a typo, should have said someone who wants to go from 25 to 20. We need an edit function.

Justapausereally · 11/03/2026 18:13

I LOVE it when an OP is shown to be talking absolute bollox.

Good luck with your new self employment in the health industry @Enyastar . On the basis of this silly thread of yours… it will be a challenge for you!

NewYearNewMee · 11/03/2026 15:21

I feel like the online consult is just getting information - I’m sure at the prescriber stage it’ll get rejected?

Exactly right.

SugarC · 11/03/2026 18:19

I have recently came off MJ despite not being a "healthy" BMI because I have lost muscle mass and not just fat. Im 7st9 down. I have no upper body strength. Im now on a wellness journey to build up my physical strength.
Prescribers will look at your order and refund money if you arent the right candidate for the jabs. BMI being a factor.

paloma7 · 11/03/2026 18:19

OP, if you sent them a photo, they must think you look overweight. Sorry. Maybe it's the way you carry the weight, rather than the BMI?

han6729 · 11/03/2026 18:19

I’m on monjaro with a healthy bmi. I play a sport, do Pilates 5 times a week, do weight training 3
times a week and track my protein and fibre. I’m generally a healthy person, but I have a sweet tooth and struggle with snacking which when left unchecked pushes me to the top end of healthy, these jabs are miraculous. They also completely curb my desire for alcohol. More providers are starting to prescribe off label, I think it’ll only increase, and until there is evidence to say this is dangerous, I am all for it.

paloma7 · 11/03/2026 18:22

Back in the day, people used to buy Slimfast and live off that for weeks / months. Hardly heathy was it OP - a pink milkshake?

You do realise any diet can make you lose muscle mass? Why all the fake outrage?

Justapausereally · 11/03/2026 18:23

Op won’t be back

Has had her arse well and truly handed to her on a plate

Jackiepumpkinhead · 11/03/2026 18:23

OP, I’m embarrassed for you, what a load of nonsense! You’ve given me a laugh though, so thank you for that. Your SPaG is shocking for a ‘journalist’, and your age has nothing to do with it. Nice bit of ageism from you.

When you are 60 + and are thin but no muscle and you cannot walk ...

My muscle mass increased as losing weight enabled me to exercise more and overhaul my diet. You know, just like you are told to do by the people who prescribe the medication.

The problem isn't the prescriber or the meds, it's the end users either waiting until they've lost the weight to makes changes or just not putting any effort in at all. It took me over two years to lose the weight I needed to, and even with medication, it was still hard work. I put in the effort right from the start and heeded the advice given by my prescriber.

If you are trying to get rogue prescribers who in breach of their licences shut down, fair enough, but don't try to shut the whole thing down. There are people like me who really needed the medication and support.

Perhaps you should look into the NHS so called weight loss service - that is something to be fecking furious about, it is fecking shit (to use your terminology) and not fit for purpose.

Where is it? I looked for it (at the bottom of my post, and on the 3 little dots on the top right) and couldn’t find it.

PuzzledObserver · 11/03/2026 18:32

I can see it now! Why wasn’t it there before??

Anyway, I’ll edit my first comment so it makes sense. Apologies for the confusion.

Dameputtingonabraveface · 11/03/2026 18:32

It costs what it costs, I am not really sure what you are trying to gain from this rant. I know several people who have made the choice to pay for weight loss meds privately, and it has been life changing for them all. People are aware of the costs involved and the screening to meet the criteria re BMI etc- for most 'normal people' there is a process requiring proof via photos, videos showing their weight, providing GP details etc. It is not really the quick easy fix those who sneer at weight loss 'jabs' use in order to claim the moral high ground.

I am in the process of making the decision to invest in my health this way. I have just hit 50, I am classed as morbidly obese- I am fed up of feeling tired, unhealthy and recognise that I have stopped exercising, socialising and do not really like myself because of my weight. It is time to make the investment.

Yes, I do know how to eat healthily, I was slim throughout my 20s and 30s but then I was widowed suddenly, worked as a lone parent in child protection for the last 20 years, dealt with having elderly and infirm parents 100s of miles away etc. My relationship with food has changed and if I could go back to keeping on top of my weight and my previous relationship with food I would have achieved it by now. I need to reset, I want to feel healthy and energised again. I also do not want my DC to loose another parent too young. It is expensive, but to put it in this context it should be an investment that will be life changing.

Heartbreaksally · 11/03/2026 18:34

You're a journalist 😂

Aye dead on

HelenaWaiting · 11/03/2026 18:35

Enyastar · 11/03/2026 15:55

Because i work in the health industry and i and others will do the best to stop this weight loss private jab industry.

No one in the health service is trying to put a stop to WLI. There is research into long-term effects ongoing but no service-backed campaign to prevent them being prescribed. You are not in the health service though, are you? You are, or claim to be, some sort of journalist. And what you are trying to do is create some sort of scandal in order to make WLI unavailable to those that need them. This is about as low as it gets. You deliberately set up a bogus account to apply for something you didn't want in order to engineer some kind of "gotcha". I'm guessing you've never heard of entrapment. I'm also prepared to bet we will never see the headlines you are banking on.

You'll be way out of time now, it's only open for a certain amount of time

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 11/03/2026 19:05

Like others i had to provide photos etc and paid a lot less than £265

i watch my calories and exercise…..the fact that others dont it not the fault of the jabs, or the vast majority of prescribers
