To expect my dd to pay for her driving licence ?

Did 18 years old is on her gap year. She has a good job well paid and saving for uni next year. We have given her a lump of money for her 18th, we do not charge her rent, we pay for food, phone and extras. We were meant to pay for her driving licence but we just had a massive vet bill, we are stretched. Am I unreasonable to expect her to pay her driving licence ?

I think it was about £50 for 1.5 hours but it was 2+ years ago …

My dd is 16 and we are planning on paying for lessons, buy a car and first year of insurance. I’m budgeting on about £5k.

My son’s 1st year insurance on a group 1 car was £3,600 - I feel this made be an optimistic budget

I’ve never been able to afford to help mine (single parent, low wage) but it motivated them into getting a job and save up to do them which helped them in the longer term. They all passed at 17. Just my youngest to go from May.

I had to pay for my own driving lessons and as a result it took me a lot longer to learn because I kept having breaks or skipping weeks when I couldn’t afford it. When I finally passed (2 years later) I had a better job so could afford two hour lessons at least once a week - I passed in a few months that way.

It cost me a lot more overall than if my parents had paid for my lessons. Can you spilt the cost?

£75 for 90 minutes that's expensive. My daughter is having 2 hour lessons a week at £60...l thought that was expensive...How wrong am l...☺️

£60 for a 2hr lesson is cheap, the only time i can think that would happen in this area is if the prices are being set by a motoring school and the instructor is working himself into the ground to pay for the franchise and earn a living

I wish some of you were my parents! Mine didn’t pay for my provisional, never mind my theory test, lessons or test. I don’t think it should be an expectation at all. Voting is closed, but no, not unreasonable. Her living costs are covered by you, and she has a well paying job. She can use her wages to pay for lessons.
