Please include photos/rightmove links so I can judge your tastes!

Me - I am watching Owning Manhattan, planning my life after winning £100,000,000 (I dream modestly) - and would live in a NY skyscraper!

Something like this: https://111w57.com/

Please do share/judge my excellent taste 😌

111 West 57th Street

111 West 57th Street is the premier residential property in Manhattan offering extraordinary views and an unparalleled level of privacy and highly-personalized services.

I'd live in one of the national parks, either snowdonia (closest to where we are), peak district or lake district, and a lakeside property somewhere in california during the winter!

nylon2026 · 04/03/2026 19:15

We do live in a house that I wouldn't change for anything, but I could do with a pied-a-terre

I'd make a few changes, but this would do

@mumofoneAloneandwell Yes, NY apartments do have monthly fees. Maintenance fees if it's a coop and common charges if it's a condo. In your preferred building they're quite expensive (these are monthly):

common charges (CC) ranging from approximately $20,530 to over $36,947, plus monthly taxes between $22,443 and $40,390 for top-tier units.

I fell in love with this when it came up a few years ago:

https://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/article/cecil-beatons-reddish-house-is-for-sale

If they'd accept a generous cash offer I'd move, but to be honest I'm happy where I am really!

Full disclaimer: where I am now is in no way comparable to the house in the article Grin

Edit: found the listing! Source: Savills https://share.google/jXurMgSyNEhRwnBNI

Cecil Beaton's idyllic Reddish House is for sale

This house has surely had one of the more glamorous histories in 20th-century England, and it could be yours for £4 million.

No links because where I'd live doesn't exist yet. I'd buy some remote land and build a farmhouse barn type pad. I wouldn't want too many bedrooms because I wouldn't want people to come and stay.

I'd have a workshop though.

Location, probably Scotland or middle England.

obviously would have to change the insane decor and probably win the lottery 4 times but I’ve always wanted to live somewhere on the Thames with a view of Tower Bridge!

Karistyleaftea · 04/03/2026 19:49

I love the location where I currently live but there is a house around the corner from me which I really do covet.
It is an Edwardian villa, the new owners completed works on it maybe a year ago and I smile every time I walk past it.
I would love to see inside it although I know I can't afford it.
I'd love to buy a bigger house for my DC too .

Riapia · 04/03/2026 19:53

I wouldn’t buy a house.
It’s been my dream for years to live in hotels.
I’d spend the rest of my life living in hotels. Maybe spending a couple of months in each and then moving on to another interesting location.

shellyleppard · 04/03/2026 19:56

Portobello beach just outside Edinburgh.... beautiful beaches and the best ice cream 🍨 ❤️

0o0oo · 04/03/2026 19:56

If it was a euro millions, I’d love to live on a massive ranch in a rural part of the USA

Tenofcups · 04/03/2026 20:02

A villa in Ibiza with a sea view.

tobee · 04/03/2026 21:00

Many, many places

Convert it to sterling, it won't seem so bad 😂

Pinkissmart · 04/03/2026 21:12

I’d live somewhere close to Tower Bridge. Don’t know why

StandingOnaCornerInWinslowArizona · 04/03/2026 21:21

Here.

I've loved Hampshire since I was a small child and try to visit regularly.

I would move here in a heartbeat. Just need to start manifesting.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 04/03/2026 21:22

Here. I like it here and I have friends. But I would get someone in to sort out some leaks and actually finish the renovations.

Then I would buy a house in the south of France and a cabin in the woods in Finland and split my time between them all. I have the right to an EU passport so I don't need to worry about the 90 day rule.

I came to Scotland for a reason and I don’t want to be anywhere else. I would absolutely love having this - bedroom for me and DH, a shared office, and the other bedrooms would be for older foster kids. It’s my dream to foster older kids, if I had the space.
https://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbabrsabs200012

OMG! I used to date a guy who lived in that house nearly 40 years ago!

I have a friend who lives in the Tower of London. Is that close enough? 😆

Nice larger house around the corner, and a small beach cottage on Dungeness.

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/167071676#/?channel=RES_BUY

I love Dungeness! I am on my own,not sure how spooky it would be at night.

Mumsgirls · 04/03/2026 22:26

Those Manhattan posts surprise. Family member lived there for 30 and I would
spent months there at a time. Like all big cities it has its problems. I found summer unbearable, the rubbish and subways stink and humidity is unbearable.
It is very expensive, like anywhere else with high wages and most if not it all of Manhattan has been gentrified and made unaffordable, except for the projects.
Winter is brutal and they have just had a bad one.
Staying on a main Avenue, I found it had to sleep with traffic noise, which only stopped for about 3 hours each night. When it is raining it’s impossible to get a cab.
Southern states dumped immigrants in the city, which made the dreadful homeless situation and begging even worse, which is really upsetting to see.
Maddison Ave has the designer shops one end and soup kitchens the other.
TV unwatchable with endless adverts and then there is Trump.
Even a lottery win would not isolate you from the star realities.
Imagine London on steroids , without the NHS

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/03/2026 22:35

A bunker in New Zealand! 😅

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/03/2026 22:37

Agree about NYC. You’d have to pay me (a fortune) to live there, and possibly even visit again. Last time it completely lost any charm it had.

TheMorgenmuffel · 04/03/2026 22:39

I'd stay where I am, buy it and do a loft conversion for some extra space.

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 04/03/2026 22:43

nomas · 04/03/2026 14:53

An Omaze house please. Without the flooding.

Or cliffs that might collapse.

BarbarianBabs · 04/03/2026 22:43

For over £4mil I would want a toilet on the first and ground floors! But otherwise is lovely
