Why is the Guardian reporting it as fact that the strike was a US/ Israeli strike on the school?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/feb/28/us-israel-strikes-iran-tehran-response-visual-guide

Because it's the Guardian. They hate Israel.

TheIceBear · 04/03/2026 17:31

HappyFace2025 · 04/03/2026 17:29

I agree with @sabababa. What Hamas did was evil and given half the chance are committed to do it again. Israel has no choice but to defend itself.
The shame belongs to Hamas who do nothing to protect their own civilians by providing safe places for them, keeping all their tunnels (built with funds supposed to be for the benefit of all Gazans!) to hide in together with their armoury ready to fire on Israelis.

they went overboard . Starving innocent people and stopping aid trucks coming in. Take a listen to yourself . These are human beings you are talking about. Seriously .

InterIgnis · 04/03/2026 17:32

TheIceBear · 04/03/2026 17:25

@sabababa i don’t know why you are so keen to defend such disgusting evil. Hamas are bad but Israel are just as bad. What they did in Gaza was absolutely disgusting . Anyone standing up for them should be ashamed of themselves

Lol, ‘just as bad’. No, no they are not. Perhaps, if concerned about civilian casualties (which they’re not), Hamas can stop using the civilian population as human shields.

‘Anyone standing up for them should be ashamed of themselves‘

Duly noted ☺️

Nearly everyone in Europe is quite critical of them at this stage to be fair . And with good reason.

So you think what Israel did in Gaza was perfectly ok do you ? Bombing little innocent children and starving them and bombing hospitals. Right so . 😩

NotTerfNorCis · 04/03/2026 17:36

It seems the idea that Iran was responsible is misinformation. Not untypical.

That isn’t what the article says. The map is showing reported strikes, which is not the same thing as ‘verified’.

This is what is explicitly said:

‘Almost 150 people were killed and at least 95 wounded in a strike on a girls’ school in Minab, in the southern Hormozgan province, according to state media. The attack was verified by Reuters. There is an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps base in the same city.’

They’ve verified for a fact that the school was struck, not that it was America or Israel that did it.

IrishSelkie · 04/03/2026 17:37

Foggybottomblues · 04/03/2026 06:21

No not Gaza but much.like Hamas the IRGC and Iranian State media are not reliable narrators. When they shot down the Ukraine Airways flight in 2020 killing 176 they denied it.

They didn’t deny it? Jan 8 shot down, Jan 11 Iran admits it and says it was mistaken for a hostile aircraft. It was during a period of heightened tensions.

That's the Guardian for you.

I used to have a subscription to them but cancelled it a while back as couldn't stomach their blatantly biased reporting any longer.

People say the Telegraph is biased - and it is - but nowhere near as bad as the Guardian imo which seems to have given up any pretence of neutrality.

IrishSelkie · 04/03/2026 17:41

NeelyOHara · 04/03/2026 06:33

This. They actively want it to be the US.

No one wants it to be the US. I think it’s just that some of us remember that US is quite capable of and has struck civilian targets with missiles in the past. I certainly recall the times the US did it in the second Iraq and Afghanistan wars in the 2000s, then late last century, but still in living memory there is what the US did in the first Iraq war and in Vietnam too.

InterIgnis · 04/03/2026 17:42

‘Bombing little innocent children and starving them and bombing hospitals.’

You mean like the Iranian Regime and their proxies do? Mmhmm.

Like I said, perhaps Hamas should ignore instruction from the IRCG and refrain from using civilians as human shields.

I’m not defending the Iranian regime or Hamas or anyone else. But especially not Israel…

Ah, of course. ‘Especially Israel’.

‘All terrorist incidents are terrible…and now that cursory payment of lip service has been made, let me continue to give 99.9% of my energy to the ones I find most politically expedient to pay special attention to. Based on genuine grief, of course.’

Rinse and repeat.

It does say it was one of the first round of strikes when the US /Israeli missiles were landing which was before the Iranians retaliated. The map title also says “US/Israel reported strikes”

Pretty clear to me

It’s pretty clear that it’s intended to lead you to that conclusion, relying as they are on a readership lacking in reading comprehension, but actually the wording is deliberately vague.

They are not stating for a fact that Israel or the US are responsible. If they did they would be wrong, as that isn’t something that has been verified.

HermioneWeasley · 04/03/2026 17:56

@NotTerfNorCis the democracy of Israel is worse than the proscribed terror group Hamas? Really?

You want to check out where Israel put their intelligence and military sites
They've only recently decided to move some of them out of the capital
and Israel have plenty of land

Yes especially not them. What they did in Gaza was absolutely disgusting and just as bad if not worse than what Hamas did at that festival, with far more innocent civilians killed. So no I absolutely won’t be defending them.

Israel 'has plenty of land'? It is about the size of New Jersey so one can't really say it has plenty of land'. HTH.
