To think Kelly Osborne must have body dysmorphia?

I’ve just seen a photo of Kelly Osborne, having not seen one for years. I don’t tend to keep up with celeb gossip but this photo actually shocked me. She looks about 55, despite being only 40, and so frail because of how much weight she’s lost. She can’t possibly think she looks good. I think she must have body dysmorphia. I can see how growing up in the spotlight somewhere like LA, being surrounded by ridiculously beautiful people, where cosmetic surgery and being a size zero is standard, must have been very difficult for her, especially as she has been overweight for most of life. Do you think she’s able to recognise how awful she looks but is just unable to stop herself losing weight & getting surgery and she’ll never be satisfied? Or do you think she thinks she actually looks good?

Probably more unhelpful to buy into the lie that not eating will get you the same chiselled jaw results as buccal fat removal surgery.

This. Im finding it hard to believe people are so focused on 'weight loss' and dont really understand the surgical impact of procedures she has had.

I dont know if any of the pictures in this article are AI enhanced or not

The Osbornes, the whole lot of them, have addictive personalities. They replace one addiction with another. With regard to Sharon, she has admitted to hitting the fat jabs and lost too much weight and can’t put it back on. At Ozzy’s funeral all three Osbourne women including the sister who shuns the limelight, were looking skeletal. So it wasn’t just grief for Kelly, if she was like that then, she has been abusing the jabs like her mum and sister.

It seems to be a new look to “aspire to”. See Demi Moore, the two women from Wicked. Strong and athletic is now required by weak and feeble.

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 15:58

Required should read replaced.

Not Kelly, no.

but there’s a chance it may help someone reading realise they need help.

so I’m conflicted. I know KO is not well, and I know public opinion and discussion on someone’s health/weight is not great. But on the other hand, public discussion will shine light on what isn’t healthy, and may mean someone reaches out if they are in a similar situation.

Given the bitchy nature of a lot of these comments, I would think they would add to the low self esteem of anyone

I think the media enhance the photos and she doesn’t look as bad in rl. Her own social media photos don’t look shocking, nor does she look bad in interviews.

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 16:13

Commenting on people’s looks is as old as time. In this case I think this new dead man/woman walking look should be discussed. We are going backwards to the time when anorexia chic was a thing. It’s disturbing.

Jabs are being used by people who don’t have that much to lose. They are sending out a message that women should not take up space, be weak, feeble. They are great for people who are obese because they do what is required. But so many people are now abusing them. What celebrities do filters down, it should be discussed.

Kelly is using grief as an excuse but she was already on those jabs before her dad died. Not downplaying her grief but she is actively showing off her weightloss in skimpy clothing. She knows what she is doing, she saw what happened to her mum, and she likes the look. It is dangerous for young girls to see this. See also Katie Price.

Fine to discuss in the abstract. Not fine to target an individual.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 16:16

And you can’t compare her with KP - KP is seen as a role model by many despite, not only the surgery (which is her business), but her many marriages, bringing men into the lives of her kids, all the business with the pets etc etc etc.

Slate someone for their actions but not the way they look.

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 16:27

I never believe those who say they never comment on people’s looks.

In this case Kelly is using the death of her father to excuse her appearance. She is undoubtedly grieving but all three of the Osbourne women were walking skeletons at Ozzy’s funeral, all with the same look. They have been using jabs way before his sudden death. It’s depressing. Only Jack looks healthy, and that is probably because he has MS and knows the value of health and nutrition.

The Osbournes are mouthy enough to look after themselves (didn’t Kelly have a tv job picking apart women’s appearances on the red carpet?) . But her pinning the extreme weightloss on grief is an awful route to go down. At least Ma Osbourne knows she has gone too far using jabs, shame her daughters didn’t heed her caution.

It's more likely to be the other way around - people filter their social media pictures, then when you see them in an interview, it's closer to how they actually look.

Why would you not believe them? Is it so unbelievable that some people choose not to drag a woman they don’t know over the coals because of how she looks?

I believe commenting on looks is shallow, but perhaps that’s just me 😀

Over the years there have been countless personal comments about, usually, male politicians and how disgusting they are, Johnson springs to mind, also Reece Mogg, theres others. Usually associated with 'how can women have kids with him', Oh Gove is another, there are tons of others.

Not one poster on those threads says 'be kind' or 'its body shaming' or they're dragging someone over the coals.

Unfortunately when people choose to look outrageous, bizarre, mutiliate themselves, people will comment. Its fairly normal. The way these people look, and Ive also posted an article with a whole list of more, is not natural, thats not their natural selves, these are modifications that someone has chosen.

TheMorgenmuffel · 03/03/2026 17:00

who the hell does she have to excuse her appearance to?
she owes absolutely nobody an explanation and she sure as shit doesn't need to justify her appearance to anyone.

Jim Carrey is getting dragged at the moment too, all sorts of shit being written.

The media and the general public's obsession with how celebrities look is damaging. I wonder whether they think that if you are famous you are a robot and cruel comments don't affect you.

What people need to do is stop criticising how others look, famous or not.

MetroCas · 03/03/2026 17:08

I think people need to stop going on about this. I have an opinion on how she looks but it’s none of my business, and I don’t know the first thing about her or her life. Not sure any of us are in a position to be diagnosing her with mental health issues from our armchair.

I wouldn’t post negatively on a public forum about someone’s looks. I appear to be in the minority, I get that.

I’m no oil painting so it would be shallow and hypocritical of me to slag off the looks of others.

I am amazed at how many (presumably) perfect looking women (without shaped eyebrows, Botox, lip fillers, boob jobs, false nails etc) are on one thread though. Who knew? Because it’s all a matter of degrees.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 17:23

And I’m not giving clicks to your article. These things are best discussed in the abstract, if they have to be at all.

I think body dysmorphia and eating disorders are a lot more prevalent than people think.

I think a lot of people struggle to see themselves clearly, but the availability of weight loss drugs has now given them the ability to make drastic drastic changes.

She has always carried a little extra weight. She has suddenly been given a tool to enable her to get thin, and like many people, is obviously struggling to regulate herself.

For years she’s been told by the media that she’s fat, no wonder she’s losing as much as she can.

It’s very easily done and very sad.

I think MN is rife for eating disorders! Again though you are often in denial and dont realise.

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 17:25

Wish we could all be as saintly and non shallow as Livia.

Kelly was on a show called Fashion Police with Joan Rivers. The title and the co host tells you what kind of comments she was making about others appearances.

Kelly should stop being a hypocrite about people commenting on her appearance, she was happy to get paid doing just that, plus stop using her father’s death to excuse the extreme tinkering of her appearance. All the Osbourne women have had too much time and money on their hands so they have made their appearance a full time job.

I would never comment on someones natural look. She was beautiful as it happens prior to work done.

She has chosen to get these awful procedures which are awful for young people to see. We'll start seeing this form of self harm on the high street soon.

You seem to be deliberately ignoring this point when you replied to me.

I don’t think it’s saintly not to slag off women’s appearance and I don’t get rhe justification of she did it so so can I. Makes you as bad as her rhen.

I'd forgotten about that show but presumably it was about what people were wearing rather than their plastic surgery?

Joan was completely honest and funny about her looks though.

A lot of the content on these types of forum are none of our business. If we didn’t give opinions, they would fold.

TranscendThis · 03/03/2026 17:30

Seriously? Wtf. She's lost her dad so will be in serious grief. If she thinks she looks fat or that being very underweight looks appealing and she then says that; well maybe.

Some cunt doctor accused me of body dysmorphia when I was in hospital long term with a very serious illness. I have multiple health problems that make you look gaunt and sick.

I don't buy into the be kind performative crap - but this post is shitty and not ok under the circumstances.
