To think Kelly Osborne must have body dysmorphia?

I’ve just seen a photo of Kelly Osborne, having not seen one for years. I don’t tend to keep up with celeb gossip but this photo actually shocked me. She looks about 55, despite being only 40, and so frail because of how much weight she’s lost. She can’t possibly think she looks good. I think she must have body dysmorphia. I can see how growing up in the spotlight somewhere like LA, being surrounded by ridiculously beautiful people, where cosmetic surgery and being a size zero is standard, must have been very difficult for her, especially as she has been overweight for most of life. Do you think she’s able to recognise how awful she looks but is just unable to stop herself losing weight & getting surgery and she’ll never be satisfied? Or do you think she thinks she actually looks good?

In terms of physique, I think she looks much better than she did when she was fat, personally. Not sure that hair style suits her though.

Jesus fucking Christ, why WHY do people feel the need to be so fucking unkind? What business is it of yours, OP, if she has body dysmorphia or not? Why the fake concern? You don’t know her, why should matter in the slightest if she’s unwell or not?

Kelly Osbourne is a prime example of the nastiness that surrounds famous women. She’s been “too fat” all her life and now she’s “too thin”.

Why do we feel the need to comment? Why can’t we leave people - famous or not - to crack on with their lives and their business without commenting on their appearance? If we could somehow just manage to not be unkind, wouldn’t the world be a much happier place?

This 💯

What a nasty, unkind and judgemental thread. Leave the poor girl alone. She’s grieving her father and trying to support her mother.

For fuck’s sake.

Couldn't you have a least searched and added to one of many other existing threads critiquing how a grieving woman looks.

I agree @TaraRhu - Amy Schumer and Mindy Kaling have held themselves out to be all about body positivity and brains over anything/everything else but now just prove they’re dying to be thin no o matter their hypocritical cost.

Yes, its sad. Amy is just not skinny, and that should be fine. Plenty of men are allows to exist in their own bodies. Most people are not not naturally a size 0 either. No one was surprised when posh spice came out as having an eating disorder. That's the reality of it. Starving yourself or drugging yourself to match some ideal cooked up by some fashion executive

Sartre · 03/03/2026 07:31

It’s a combo of grief, ozempic and buccal fat removal I think. She’s been bullied since her teen years for her weight. The 00s was a brutal time, women were bullied for being fat if they were a size 10 and she was a teen/early 20s growing up in that period. Imagine being bullied as horrendously as she was by the media at that age, no wonder she has body dysmorphia.

SpaceRaccoon · 03/03/2026 07:38

Just waiting for the first "we've lost sight of what a normal weight is" post.

Mistyglade · 02/03/2026 23:43

Men don’t tend to starve themselves to fit a body ideal like starlets do, lets face it.

QED.

They don’t feel they need to because people aren’t constantly assessing how they look.

STOP body shaming women!

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 03/03/2026 07:51

I think nobody stands up in their industry without full, intensive ‘grooming’. To be bare faced, or just have lipstick and mascara, would leave you looking dishevelled among all the produced glamour.

So you have a little this and a little that, then add eyelashes, eyebrows and full stage makeup, and hey presto you no longer look like yourself.

I know women on my street who have the thick doll eyelashes, lips plumped and eyebrows. Probably looks great on a night out, and their selfies look stunning. It doesn’t hold up so well on the school run with no make up on, though.

I’ve always been an ‘eyeliner before leaving the house’ woman. Glasses help with the eyebrows these days. Lipstick and hair brushing optional. It’s an easier look to maintain!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 03/03/2026 07:54

No. I think she's unwell and sick with grief alongside WLI.

I’M not body shaming anyone. I’m offering my opinion as to why some women feel the need to do this to themselves. There’s a difference.

Notsosweetcaroline · 03/03/2026 08:42

This is awful absolutely awful why do women keep attacking her appearance, how many times does she have to say please leave me alone I am mentally struggling,

what on earth are people trying to do to her. Drive her to tragedy. Did we learn nothing from Caroline flack.

leave her alone. She’s asked so many times.

Mistyglade · 03/03/2026 08:42

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/03/2026 23:49

She is hardly a ‘starlet’! Shes a woman with a troubled past. A starlet is a very young promising actress.

And it’s no wonder women feel they need to go to extremes - men don’t have to because they don’t tend to be judged the same.

I never said she was. I was referring to the trend. I think it was Emma Stone I saw a picture of on the red carpet this week looking extremely thin. Commenting out of genuine concern for the individual and the effect on others is not being unkind and you need to learn the difference.

No it’s not, stop with the faux concern for people you don’t know. No one beleives it.

Ihateboris · 03/03/2026 08:56

I agree with you op.

I think the doctors who are dishing out the weight loss injections should be struck off. And before anyone says she's lost weight due to the death of her father, she looked like this well before then. Also, if she's struggling with mental health issues, she needs to stay out of the limelight and get some help.

I think the heroin chic trend of the 90s is back.

TheBlueKoala · 03/03/2026 09:04

I agree that she looks awful. Eating disorders helped by wli tends to do that to you.

If you choose to spend your life in the spotlight (she is the one seeking media attention) it's normal people will discuss your looks- be that beautiful or the contrary.

What I don't like is when paparazzi are sneaking up on people going about their day to take photos showing how ugly they are without makeup etc. That's totally different.

How do you know I don’t? Don’t tell me my concern is false and don’t tar everyone else with your low opinions of people you don’t know.

I think the current fad for skeletal body shapes on famous women is worrying.

It’s not about picking on individual women - they live their lives in public so we can’t miss them.

I hope can critique this trend without criticising individuals.

I am thinking of the influence they have over other women - particularly young girls.

There are so many recently ‘skinnied up’ celebrities that it feels like a trend is being pushed.

The celebrities themselves are under severe pressure to look young and skinny- when they succumb to the pressure it normalises it - thus the influence on other women.

The question is: who and why is this trend being pushed on women.
Who wants us to be frail and emancipated?

No, because it's misogynistic BS said to women (by other women) to shut down anything controversial or up for debate.

If it is misogynistic to believe that commenting on another woman's body is cruel, then I am a proud misogynist.

Exactly, very well articulated, thank you.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 10:12

Actually, commenting on how a woman looks, knowing she has had MH and addiction issues and has had to address the criticism already IS cruel.

And she is not responsible for the effect on anyone else.

Most of the people defending her have not said anything about her looks.

Anyone who is concerned about her wouldn’t add fuel to the social media fire by adding to the negative comments.

How do you think her kids will feel reading this when they are older?

You can tell people they are being bitchy without hashtagging at them. It's a toxic movement and it can fuck off.
