Obviously the pictures of Kelly Osbourne are both sad and terrifying.

But a few women i know have also used this method for weight loss and their skin has lost elasticity. They look at least 10 years older. Is this side effect being under played?

Maybe we can start buying up buildings for frail ex diet jab users ? A massive warehouse of wrinkly faced flabby arsed Mounjaro users - on to a gold mine there. I thought I’d read all there was to read from the MJ haters or ‘concerned’. It’s pleasing to know it has a new dimension, what’s next ?!!

It is a new take, “I’m worried about funding of care homes for elderly frail wli users”

I do think it’s one of those thoughts the op thought sounded good in her head but really should have thought more about it and not written it down. 😂

@Sampler we coukd start a go fund me for Botox and gym memberships? £500 and you get a candle to light for an ex fatty?

My ex is an overweight doctor who used to work in a diabetic clinic.

He used to say he would never use WLI as they can cause pancreatic problems

Thank god for you coming on here to tell us your ex’s opinion. What would we ever have done! So helpful! He flies in the face of medical science that man, for sure!

simpledeer · 02/03/2026 16:17

You sound deranged

usedtobeaylis · 02/03/2026 16:17

Mounjaro isn't nurofen but obesity isn't a headache.

Mrsredlipstick · 02/03/2026 16:24

Very few OAPs get free care homes. They'll be paying!

I was told by my father's carers that the biggest problem looking after him was his obesity.
It was one of the reasons I lost weight. Lots of professional carers are ethnic minorities with smaller builds than white British.

My mother died of bowel cancer that her consultant thought was caused by her unhealthy eating habits. She was also diabetic. I've no doubt she would have tried WLI.

Having lost seven stone I hope to live longer. Most people have many reasons for wanting to be their correct weight.

Maybe instead of your ignorant reply trying to be funny, go and research the effects WLI can have on the pancreas.

Eat a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. It’s quite simple. I say that as someone who has pcos and lost 30kg and kept it off.

Stop press! You’ve just found the cure for obesity! If only is fatties had realised it was as simple assaying fewer calories 🙄

SilenceInside · 02/03/2026 16:47

@Sarah24x I think many people who take WLI are very well aware of what impact it can have on the pancreas. Which is, very rarely, it can cause pancreatitis. The risk is lower with Mounjaro than with Wegovy. Overall, the risks of taking a WLI if you are obese are less than the risks of remaining obese. If your doctor ex wasn’t obese or overweight with a weight related health condition, then a prescription medication for obesity would not have been appropriate for him.

The pancreas was already address on the thread before you randomly brought your ex into it.

Well, perhaps he should have read the research. They weren’t called “WLI” for the 20 years they were used in diabetes clinics - they are GLP1 inhibitors and were clearly being used by diabetics who needed this form of intervention. Diabetics are 2-3x more likely than non-diabetics to develop pancreatitis. Not because of the medication, but because they are diabetic. I’d worry about seeing such an ill-informed clinician, frankly.

ETA just noticed lots of PPs have already replied to this in the same vein as I have. Sorry.

usedtobeaylis · 02/03/2026 18:49

Always good to highlight though that the 'concerns' never extend to diabetics but only generally fat people 😘

Plot30B · 02/03/2026 19:09

I wonder how many of these 'just concerned' posters and OPs are actually paid by diet companies, diet food producers, etc, to post on SM and create unease about WLIs?

There must be a fair few, since WLI have to be hitting their profits fairly hard. I know that some (SW? WW?) are getting on the bandwagon and trying to integrate the WLI into their model, but I bet the effect on their revenues is still pretty catastrophic in many cases!

Eating in a calorie deficit isnt rocket science and is the way to lose weight, WLI enable humans to be able to do that consistently because the human body is not designed to be in a deficit. Its normal and natural to seek out high calorie dense food, its how we are still here as a species

In a world of opportunity this has made most populations around the world with that opportunity, overweight or obese.

Come back in 5 years and let us know how you're still maintaining that 30kg loss and havent put any on in the meantime. The odds, unfortunately, are stacked against you, as they are stacked against most of us.

Im inclined to believe that they're actually posted or promoted by food manufacturers. They dont want us eating less

HeidiLite · 02/03/2026 19:37

Obesity increases acute pancreatitis risk about 50%, plus it is more likely to be severe. Pancreatic cancer risk is raised 20-30%.

GLP-1s - pancreatic cancer risk increase not proven. Pancreatitis a very rare slight risk.

One wli lady I know is moving into collagen drinks. I assume they feel old.
This one is dressing like their teen daughter and they're going out like twins. I can't imagine anything worse for the teen but I guess it makes you feel old and look old if you're comparing yourself to a teen

Bizarre comment!

Kept if off for 15 years and had two kids in between so I’m not too worried.

HeidiLite · 02/03/2026 20:12

good for you, you're the 10% of people who manage to lose weight and keep it off. The 90% should what, suffer for being such failures?

QuickBlueKoala · 02/03/2026 20:12

The only way to never look old is unfortunately to die young. Obesity is a great way to do this, so you are not wrong.
Most people prefer to live longer, and look older though

Boots89 · 02/03/2026 20:12

Tuliptana · 02/03/2026 07:21

Yes but its not just a 'bit older' its drastic aging which makes you wonder what its doing to internal organs. It seems more profound in women who were not obese to start with but used them anyway.
I guess it could be lack of nutrition or dehydration but the effects are scary.

I've lost 7 stone in 12 months with mounjaro and I can tell you I look bloody fantastic. I was a big fat puffy mess last year so we don't all look haggered 😆

Jackiepumpkinhead · 02/03/2026 20:16

LadyVioletBridgerton · 02/03/2026 10:37

I know someone on it and she looks at least 10 years older. In fact, that’s being generous, I’d say about 15 years older. I’ve heard there could be problems with sight loss. I’d rather be fat than blind quite frankly.

😂 JFC!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 02/03/2026 20:18

I’ve lost more than 4 and a half stone, not using WLI’s and I definitely look older! It is a side effect of weight loss, particularly as we age.

I’m also so much stronger and healthier, I’ve been at the gym throughout and I’ve gone from hardly able to walk due to knee pain to being strong, flexible and I can get on and off the floor without using my hands.

I sense this is yet another thread bashing those that use WLI’s. Why not just let people make their choice!
