No.

Ilikewinter · 28/02/2026 15:24

Start to stockpile food?

Mum2Fergus · 28/02/2026 15:25

It’s actions like this that cause the issues.

UpAndDownAllTheTime · 28/02/2026 15:25

Stockpile baklava.

Insidesains · 28/02/2026 15:26

No. Not one single thing

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 28/02/2026 15:26

Nope!

Insidesains · 28/02/2026 15:26

You’ve filled your car up… ok, so how long will that see you through?!

CreepyCoupe · 28/02/2026 15:27

UpAndDownAllTheTime · 28/02/2026 15:25

Stockpile baklava.

😂😂

Olympeagal · 28/02/2026 15:27

The petrol station was busy and its obvious oil prices will sky rocket if the situation remains so unstable.
I will admit i am very anxious. My partner is an engineer snd was in Kuwait only 3 weeks ago. Thankfully he is now in Asia but with flights being cancelled, i do worry how he will get home. Such an awful situation .

Hat exactly do you mean by "prepare" because from experience that means stockpile like crazy in uk

TheMoanerLisa · 28/02/2026 15:31

UpAndDownAllTheTime · 28/02/2026 15:25

Stockpile baklava.

😂

My husband's 9pm flight to Qatar has just been cancelled. We are a baklava free zone!! The purpose of the trip wasn't purely to re-stock but to say I am disappointed is an understatement!

Tikitaka20 · 28/02/2026 15:33

How is filling up your car going to help? You’ll probably use up the fuel as normal in the next week, and if the ME situation escalates to the point it threatens the UK and you want to leave the UK by car, a full fuel tank won’t get you very far (probably only to the coast, depending on where you live).

I reckon the best option for now is to work out how to rationalise the worry you’re feeling about the ME - it’s worth checking out the NHS and MIND websites to start with. If you also want to make practical plans, I’d also suggest you find out the background behind the ME situation, to try and assess the escalation risks. I don’t think the U.K. is in any particular danger at this stage.

You really didn’t need to “admit” to anything
it was abundantly clear you are a “very anxious” person

ilovesooty · 28/02/2026 15:35

No.

BackinRed101 · 28/02/2026 15:37

a tank of fuel will struggle in ques if the fuel started to run dry, personally invest in a bycycle etc for local journeys

If you’re worried about petrol prices increasing to the point you’ll find them less affordable, definitely worth thinking both about other ways you can get around (eg walking/public transport/car sharing) and reviewing your budget to see if you can spend a bit more on petrol.

You don’t say where in Asia your partner is working, but from my experience of Asia-U.K. travel, he should be able to get a direct flight back to the U.K. or get a stopover flight that entirely avoids the ME. It’s worth he and you look into that, to help manage your worry.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 28/02/2026 15:41

I’m sure having a few extra bags of pasta will come in handy if the Lorries can’t distribute. 😁

RedRiverShore6 · 28/02/2026 15:41

Actually yes I will fill the car, that should do me then for at least a couple of months, maybe three.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 28/02/2026 15:42

Nah, I always have a full tank as I hate running low. Im
more concerned about dh paying off ship and coming home as he’s in the Middle East at the moment on an lpg tanker! I will be avoiding the news for the next couple of weeks until he is home (due imminently off ship so will see what happens).

RedRiverShore6 · 28/02/2026 15:42

MorrisonsPlatter · 28/02/2026 15:28

Toilet paper 🧻

I thought that was made here, not the ME

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 28/02/2026 15:43

FFS what are you talking about? How is filling up the car with fuel going to make a damn bit of difference to anything?

It's the Saturday after payday. That'll be why it was busy.

Isekaied · 28/02/2026 15:45

One tank of fuel isnt going to do anything

I think it's similar to how people used to fill up before 6pm on budget day. You save a few quid.
