as the mother of a child with anorexia. This kind of model being used by Biden is irresponsible

It looks like a very badly done photoshopped photo. There is something wrong with the angles.

Sweetiedarling7 · 25/02/2026 07:39

She definitely look anorexic but you will get plenty here who deny it.
My step daughter had anorexia, well I say had but she still does in her thirties really.

No she doesn’t!

Dancingsquirrels · 25/02/2026 07:54

I agree with OP

She doesn't look a healthy weight

Surprised to see so many people thinking this is ok

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 25/02/2026 07:55

It’s not ok. She looks unhealthy.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 25/02/2026 07:56

She's shockingly thin and I have no idea why people are pretending otherwise. No one can possibly think this is okay.

kel7f6g · 25/02/2026 07:59

It’s strange because it’s not really a body shape that is celebrated these days. It’s a bit high fashion for something that should be appealing to a more diverse community. Not sure she looks thin enough to consider it irresponsible though, just looks a bit dated to me!

Viviennemary · 25/02/2026 08:00

Far far too thin. Complain to Boden iv you feel strongly.

But she’s not! She’s a healthy weight.

No, I understood you. I buy the same size now as the ones from 20 years or more ago. How could I have meant anything else? Nobody thinks clothes are being stretched or shrink in our wardrobes.

I don't know about 20 years ago, but 30 years ago I used to be a size 12, I'm the same weight at the moment and a size 8. I've still got a few size 12 items from the 1990s and they still fit. I also have a vintage dress from 1973 labelled a 16 and that fits me too!

Doggymummar · 25/02/2026 08:08

Boden are not really influencers of teen girls so I doubt your daughter is anorexic because of this picture. Anorexia is a Mental health issue. This model looks perfectly healthy to me

Dontlletmedownbruce · 25/02/2026 08:11

She is very thin but I don't see why that promotes anorexia. We don't see overweight models as promoting obesity, people say it reflects the reality and makes it relatable. Why can't thin people see relatable people? Why is it always assumed they will immediately starve themselves from one image? Anorexia and being slim are not the same thing.

soddingspiderseason · 25/02/2026 08:14

Agree. I’ve winced at Boden models many times for being way too thin. As I no longer buy from them I’ve not seen them for a while. Of course very thin people ‘exist’, but this model has no muscle and looks unhealthily thin. There is already too much pressure on young women to be unrealistically thin. But they probably won’t be buying from Boden so the damage is limited.

I really don’t think we see many genuinely overweight models, and when companies have used them (Snag and Nike come to mind) the comments often make references to health and the message it sends, more so the Nike campaign anyway, the comments on that were brutal).

Coconutter24 · 25/02/2026 06:51

There’s other slim and thin models in the website

This, many are the same size as me as a UK8. The model is definitely thin but assuming anorexia is ridiculous. I can see a point if they were all her body shape, but she is in the minority. Even when you click on the outfit and swipe they show different models in the same outfit.

That might be the picture in the front but not when you swipe through the product photos.

cardibach · 24/02/2026 22:51

Bollocks. I keep clothes for decades. They all still fit.

Er, no. I also keep clothes for decades and they still fit. The difference is they were then size 10/12 and now I buy size 6 or 8.

JacknDiane · 25/02/2026 08:25

She just looks very young and slim

UnbeatenMum · 25/02/2026 08:31

I don't think companies should be allowed to use underweight models, no. Personally I do think this woman looks underweight but it seems about 50:50 on this thread so it's clearly hard to tell.

sorrynotathome · 25/02/2026 08:32

TheFairyCaravan · 24/02/2026 22:05

I’m so bloody sick of these threads.

I weigh 7st 10lbs, and am 5ft 4, at 55. I was 7st 12 on my wedding day. 32yrs ago. That’s just me. Women like me exist. If I started a thread calling a retailer irresponsible for using a plus sized model there’d be hell to pay.

Mmmmm. I’m same weight as you but 5ft 3 and I don’t look anything like this! I would say I’m slim (used to say normal but times have changed) but this woman is extremely thin.

I like it when the descriptions say how tall the model is and what size they’re wearing - this is far more helpful than anything else.

UniquePinkSwan · 25/02/2026 08:34

Overeacting. Looks a normal weight to me. You’re just used to seeing obese people everywhere

The model is probably 5ft 10. Lengthier limbs always give the appearance of being slimmer

Additup · 25/02/2026 08:39

I'm tall and slim and I have a good, healthy appetite. I used to get really fed up of the insinuations about eating disorders when I was younger. Some people are just naturally tall and slim OP.

People wihh anorexia do not look that healthy.

Also, anorexia is rarely about a desire to lose weight, it's about control.

domenica1 · 25/02/2026 08:40

ACatNamedRobin · 25/02/2026 07:40

It's not "incredibly thin".
Go to Eastern Europe or Japan and the very vast majority of women/girls that age are around that size - naturally.

And so were they when I was that age and just out of the communist dictatorship so definitely not influenced by advertising/"Western beauty standards" or whatever gets blamed.

There are huge and unhealthy pressures on women particularly in Japan and other parts of east Asia to be very thin. It is common for people to remark on weight gain etc. to your face. but yeah sure you’re right and they are all just naturally thin! 🙄

I agree OP, too thin, but Biden clothes are so frumpy on normal sized women that I guess they have to use fashion-skinny models to make them look any good! Makes me wince too. Stopped buying a long time ago.

gototogo · 25/02/2026 08:41

Both my DD’s were this size at that age, one still is a size 6, neither has anorexia, my still very slim dd eats a lot of cake actually though is picky.
