The BBC have just said that Buckingham palace and the King were not told in advance about Andrew’s arrest, which is interesting.

The BBC have just said that Buckingham palace and the King were not told in advance about Andrew’s arrest, which is interesting.

They had some ex policeman saying they would tell the PM, no idea if true. Which makes sense after the PM was filmed saying about nobody is above the law today? Or yesterday, not sure.

Hopefully the police officers who were complicit in this will be arrested too.

He's been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, ie sharing sensitive information with Epstein. I doubt any police officers would have been aware of the content of his emails.

Almost nobody is cover enough to know how to clean up their devices of certain illegal activities. There are teams that look forensically at devices and find all sorts. You think you’re permanently deleting your history, permanently destroying your hard drive etc but it’s all useless. That’s why he’s fucked, if it’s true that about him sharing ‘material’ with Epstein.

This:

It's just laborious expensive work but there's little chance of permanently getting rid of something from a device.

GrooveArmada · 19/02/2026 12:35

The BBC really should tell us the increase in licence fee is due to investment in part 2 of Emily Maitlis interviewing the honourable A #Imworthit M-W in custody.

The UK is NOT leading the way. European nations started arresting the men who whose identities were in the Epstein files.

This is too little - too late.

Andrew should have been charged with SA. He wasn’t.

The Police also need to investigate the murder of the Latvian woman whose body was found near Andrew’s mansion years ago.

Accuracy is important and peddling this load of crap is not accurate. When the poor victim went missing The Andrew Formerly Known as Prince was at Balmoral in front of many witnesses. She was found at Sandringham a good while later, over a mile from the main house and therefore nowhere near TAFKP's mansion which is in a different county, the other side of London. Police arrested two men but unfortunately did not have enough evidence to charge them. She was most likely murdered elsewhere and dumped in the middle of nowhere. Sandringham estate is vast and crossed by several public roads. Anybody can go there.
I am sure we all hope that TAFKP is charged with many reprehensible things and then duly convicted. Muddying the process with nonsense is not going to help. Please stop.

According to the BBC, he’s the first modern member of the Royal Family to have been arrested.

I love how he has been arrested on his birthday.

I hope something actually comes of his arrest, though I doubt it…

Anne must have been convicted under the dangerous dogs act without being arrested for that to be true - I genuinely have no idea if that’s possible, maybe it is because she admitted it?

The BBC did also say he’d be the first royal in court which is incorrect so I’m not entirely sure how accurate they are on this one.

A Trade Envoy works with the UK government to promote British business and trade interests abroad. Essentially get trade deals.

Some countries like the UK Royal Family, so having Andrew at the meetings would have helped the UK.

These trade deals and meetings are confidential, secret and should not be shared with anyone.

What did Andrew do? Well, recently the US released a whole bunch of emails between Andrew and Epstein.
Guess what was in the emails?
Yep, Andrew sent copies of confidential details of trade meetings etc.
By doing this, it gives Epstein, an American, power to do deals with US government officials, because he now has secret information about what the Uk is doing.

I hope this makes sense SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter

In the olden days Andrew would be charged as a traitor (and not the fluffy Claudia Wilkerman kind) 😁

Edited

Someone was saying that he could get away with it by sayingvhe wasnt in ' public office' but he was a working member of the RF who had been given a role, and was apparently being 'paid' by QEII. So again, how can the Royals say they are not a 'public office" while they take taxpayers money on that basis and they were paying him to do that job? If AMW uses that defence its evidence of yet more ' too complicated' arrangements the Royals have where they are one thing when it suits them and another thing when it doesnt. Time we found out exactly who was involved in all this by releasing the TE documents. I suspect there is an awful lot in them about QEII ignoring warnings and advice re AMW in this role.

I wish Virginia Giuffre were here to see this moment.

The statement from her family was very moving, let's hope he actually does face justice.

HoppityBun · 19/02/2026 11:35

It isn’t “just“ misconduct in public office. It’s a serious offence. I’m not certain that being a member of the royal family is, in fact, a public office, but if he has abused that position then that strikes at the heart of the whole reason for the existence of the royal family. As has been previously noted on here.

Isn’t it likely that KC3 had advanced notice of this last year when he began the moves to unroyal AM-W?

Acting on behalf of the UK government for business interests is what justified his public existence and payments. If there was an offence, and it’s by no means clear that there was, then it was one that was committed in this country and he would be put on trial in this country. And punishments would be served in this country. Weighed against the Epstein debacle those would seem to have far more chance of success, though the Epstein emails may well contain evidence that might be relevant.

I just don’t think the Epstein thing is going to go anywhere as far as Andrew M-W is concerned. This one might have legs. If there has been an offence of misconduct, then it was when he committed against the whole of the UK.

I know that actually, hence ‘just’ being in inverted commas. I should have been clearer about that. I was meaning in the event it was ‘just’ about misconduct in public office and not about rape/SA.

I think it will be some form of justice for the Epstein survivors if he gets convicted of misconduct and has to go to jail. Or even face the humiliation of being put on trial in this country.

However, I wonder whether AMW will be persuaded to reveal all about Epstein in exchange for lesser charges pertaining to misconduct charges? Will Mandelson, who I’m sure knows more than he says about Epstein’s activities?

Glad the UK is leading the way in actually doing something about those named in the files unlike everywhere else it seems.

I keep seeing people saying this. It is worth mentioning, he’s arrested for passing government secrets. Apparently we are fine with people having sex with trafficked girls, but if they tell finance bros confidential information about investment opportunities in South East Asia, we won’t stand for that.

If he's guilty of misconduct then he deserves the sentence and if he's not guilty he should be cleared.

What's important to me is that no one is above the law and everyone deserves a fair trial.

However I am under no illusion that the conspiracy theorists will be on overtime if he's found not guilty. And if he's found guilty then whatever sentence he gets will be criticised as too lenient.

100% right.
And can we also have appropriate investigations into Lord Mandelson while we're at it? There seem to be similarities between him and AMW re the "public office" issues.

Well, he was in the forces. I´m sure they have plenty of plastic crockery and microwaves. With Andrew, don´t forget, it´s not the physical discomforts, it´s the humiliation of being seen as less than, people not bowing and scraping and doing his bidding, to him that is hell on earth.

And he went to boarding school. I’ve heard lots of ex public school boys say that prison was no worse…

Always a game for the lawyers. However, I think if AMW got away with it due to ‘not being in public office’ there would be an outcry about the RF.

I think they don’t ask questions in Parliament about the RF but I think some would risk breach of that - or find ways around it - maybe Sinn Fein could comment as they don’t swear allegiance?!

Interesting times, though we must remember it is founded on most distressing and abhorrent abuses across decades.

Not the best way to spend your 66th birthday though - expect he thought those days were gone.

He will hate having to be told what to do, no choices at all, and being questioned.

I would have bought him this particular birthday gift if I could I think!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 19/02/2026 12:53

Thankfully he is not above the law unlike the American cohort of Epstein vile creatures.

The age of consent for sex work is 18 in the UK, not 16. If he had sex with a 17 year old girl who was trafficked to the UK for sex, that sounds criminal to me. I don't understand why this point isn't being picked up. Normally 16 is rhe age of consent, but it is older for sex work for all the obvious reasons.

Any sexual activity with a trafficked person is rape - trafficked people cannot give consent, because they’ve been trafficked. They are not there of their own volition and age is irrelevant and they’ve not made the choice to be a sex worker.

If he had sexual activity in the UK with VG and/or anyone else trafficked by Epstein (and/ or anyone else) it was rape.

My hope is that in investigating the issue he’s been arrested for concerning his trade envoy actions the police will find further evidence of far worse crimes. Perhaps he will try to protect himself and throw everyone else under the bus.

pigsDOfly · 19/02/2026 12:58

Lets hope this doesn't all end up being quietly dropped.

Unfortunately, there are some people who are most definitely 'above the law'.

Even if he is convicted he won't end up in a regular prison and be treated like a 'common' prisoner.

Absolutely this.

People seem to confuse the difference between a sex worker who chooses that path and women, of any age who are trafficked.

Those young women were not sex workers they were slaves.
