AIBU?

To think that my son's hairstyle won't make him a target for bullies?

Please see profile page and let me know what you think. I thought he had a reasonable 'normal' haircut but i have heard from DP that MIL thinks he looks stupid and we have to 'sort it' before he starts school as he is going to be a laughing stock? BTW atm he is 3 yrs old. I didn't think hairstyle was a big bother at this age but perhaps IABU.

Send her a wooden spoon. His hair is fine.

Lio · 16/06/2008 09:53

ds's hair is almost identical, no bullying at his primary school over it. Some of the three-yea-old boys had hair gel on their first day at school, which I think is much weirder.

flossish · 16/06/2008 09:54

her other grandson has a number 1 all over every couple of weeks. She instigated this and obv thinks we should do the same with DS.

Nope, don't see a problem! Normal haircut, v cute actually! And what 3 year old had enough awareness of these things to create a "laughing stock"?? Daft MIL.

clumsymum · 16/06/2008 09:56

He looks lovely (hair just like my ds's, he's never had anyone say it looks stupid).

I think your MIL has a tile missing. What is her idea of a haircut then?

Oh no, please don't have it 'number 1'ed'. IMO that makes every little boy look like a thug.

Ds has a worse haircut than your sona nd at his village school everyone thinks he looks like a surfer dude!

I think chavvy shaved heads are more to be made fun of!

SantaBarbara · 16/06/2008 09:58

Think the haircut looks fine, normal, lovely. Daft MIL; a number 1 on a three year old is odd.

edam · 16/06/2008 09:59

Your MIL is barking. FWIW I dislike no. 1 cuts on little boys and do think they look aggressive - but each parent to their own.

flossish · 16/06/2008 10:00

Unfortunately I have no idea. DS attended a party where she was on sat. DP went round for fathers day yesterday and said that the comments came out of nowhere. No doubt she was having a good giggle about it with her friends yesterday and thats where it came from.

looks erm.....normal to me - i actually scrolled yor pictures twice as i was wondering what i was looking for.

tell your mil to jog on silly cow.

LynetteScavo · 16/06/2008 10:03

flossish, you win todays prize for having the most mad MIL.

WilyWombat · 16/06/2008 10:05

I swear MILs are put on this earth to frustrate us

There is nothing wrong with his hair...he will soon tell you if he thinks there is in no uncertain terms!

If I gave my boys a No1 one of them would look malnourished and the other would look like a thuggish bouncer - it really doesnt suit everyone.

IGNORE HER

belcantavinissima · 16/06/2008 10:06

wtf???? its not even long for gods sake. your mil is mental (as is mine- she is stupid about ds2's hair. she always has to make a comment when its been cut off (as in oh how lovely he looks like a 'real' boy )
fwiw ds2 started school in sept with hair to his shoulders. his friends seem to think its cool esp the girls lol!

EyeballsintheSky · 16/06/2008 10:13

I was looking for a kid with a Mohican! He's gorgeous, your MIL is barking. She's obviously going senile. Ignore and feel pity

wabbit · 16/06/2008 10:18

eh? What's wrong with his hair then?? it's a boys cut (more than you can say for my little chaps locks )
Your MIL is being silly - just looking for something to niggle at.

MONKEYMONKEY · 16/06/2008 10:22

His hair looks lovely ignore what MIL says (what do they know). I think he looks very cute. My DS goes school with a boy with hair similar and he don't get no negitive comments the only way the boy in DS school boy would look odd is if he ever had it cut short or anything else.
When your DS starts school you'll probably see other boys there with hair the same anyway.
