Vinted - passive aggressive?

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 08:07

I sold something on Vinted, it arrived at their collection point on the 13th Feb. They’ve as yet not collected so this morning I sent a message with just a full stop as someone did this to me before and it was actually a helpful reminder. They have replied with “I’m going to collect it today, relax no need to be passive aggressive.”

I feel like their reply is ruder than my full stop 😂

It is passive aggressive. Own it - just because it was done to you doesn’t make it okay to do it to someone else or absolve your actions - you chose to do it and it is a bit pissy

Seeingadistance · 17/02/2026 08:10

If you had to message at all, then asking if everything was ok would have been better.

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 17/02/2026 08:10

Your full stop was not an effective way to communicate and hence, has been misinterpreted.

SleekWhisky · 17/02/2026 08:11

You’ve definitely been passive aggressive. Why would you not simply say - it’s only been a couple of days since this arrived but don’t want you to miss out, don’t forget to collect. Thanks again for your purchase.

Helpfullright · 17/02/2026 08:11

I wouldn’t be picking it up and leaving it to go back to you. Extremely rude.

KellyJonesLeatherTrousers · 17/02/2026 08:11

No need to message at all, they know when they have to collect by.

likelysuspect · 17/02/2026 08:11

Why didnt you just use normal communication, like 'hope everything is ok, the item is ready to collect now'

Why cant people actually use dialogue?

Twittable · 17/02/2026 08:12

Vinted have probably reminded them a lot already, you don’t need to and your full stop probably did annoy them. A few weeks ago I was ill and couldn’t collect my parcel for a few days, I’d have been really annoyed to be ‘poked’ about it.

Megifer · 17/02/2026 08:12

No way is their reply ruder than just a full stop 🤣

likelysuspect · 17/02/2026 08:12

Also it can take me ages to collect things sometimes, having to swerve via this or that collection point when my other business takes me in the other direction, I'll collect when Im ready

TheUsualChaos · 17/02/2026 08:13

I'd find that weird. Just send a polite message if you think they buyer may have forgotten to collect but Vinted sends lots of reminders, you don't really need to. I've collected plenty of things on the last day before, life is busy.

Funnywonder · 17/02/2026 08:14

I wouldn’t like someone to send me a full stop. But then, I don’t like people sending me a question mark to prompt me or, worse still, multiple question marks. It comes across as a bit impatient and rude. But I probably wouldn’t have replied the way the buyer did. Just rolled my eyes, then left it to the last minute to collect🤣 Vinted already remind people to pick stuff up.

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 17/02/2026 08:14

Extremely rude.

Frenchfrychic · 17/02/2026 08:14

Why on earth would you send them a message with a full stop, how rude and then decide they are the issue.

OvernightBloats · 17/02/2026 08:14

Just a full stop in a message as a reminder is very rude. I would feel the same way as the Vinted buyer in this case. The buyer is not a robot and deserves communication in a friendly, human way.

InMyOpenOnion · 17/02/2026 08:17

You don't need to remind them, Vinted already does that. But your full stop was rude and it's absolutely understandable that the buyer interpreted it to be passive aggressive. Why didn't you just take thirty seconds to type a quick message?

fartoomuchtoblerone · 17/02/2026 08:20

You have a set amount of time to send it. They have a set amount of time to collect. Vinted does the reminders - it’s rude to bug someone to collect just because you’re impatient, and especially not to even bother writing a politely worded message if you really feel you have to.

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 08:21

Oh gosh - strong feelings on the full stop!

My mistake, when I received it it felt more like someone popping an email to the top of the pile so to speak.

Don’t laugh BUT I was worried I would write something that came across as rude.

You should tell them you're sorry, perhaps link to this thread

And dont chase people in future. Very pressurising

And on that note Im off to the dry cleaners to collect something that was ready 2 weeks ago

TikTokker · 17/02/2026 08:23

wtf? You send a fullstop. That’s awful.

Megifer · 17/02/2026 08:23

Like what? "Pick the fucking parcel up"? 😂😂

Moonnstarz · 17/02/2026 08:24

Not sure why you needed to send a reminder in the first place. And if you felt you did, why you didn't write an actual message asking if all was ok.
If you sent me a full stop I would find this rather weird and I wouldn't have understood it to be a prompt to go and collect. I would probably have assumed you accidently leant on your phone or that it had been edited and you had left a full stop by mistake. I probably would have been asking you what the message was!!

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 08:25

Also, I always choose inpost which has a two day collection time. The method they have chosen has a ten day collection time which I hadn’t realised so I sort of assumed it would be being returned to me by the end of today.

I always have things sent to
me directly and respond/ release the funds immediately because I’m aware the seller has done their part and I don’t want to leave them hanging/ waiting for their cash.
if I had failed to collect or respond and someone had sent me a full stop, I definitely wouldn’t have responded like the buyers. I think it’s ruder to keep the seller waiting with no communication.
