Vinted - passive aggressive?

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 08:07

I sold something on Vinted, it arrived at their collection point on the 13th Feb. They’ve as yet not collected so this morning I sent a message with just a full stop as someone did this to me before and it was actually a helpful reminder. They have replied with “I’m going to collect it today, relax no need to be passive aggressive.”

I feel like their reply is ruder than my full stop 😂

I think brace yourself for a poor review

Wait until the buyer chooses Relay and you have to find an obscure little newsagent who accepts those 😂

You can just cancel the sale if it's not convenient and list the reason as unable to ship by that courier, due to no local shipping points. You won't receive negative feedback.

Vinted use to only allow buyers to select one of the sellers chosen couriers. If your preferences didn't match up, they couldn't make the purchase. Now it will allow buyers to select something not listed by the seller in their preferences, if it is their only suitable courier service. It's then up to the seller to decide whether this is doable or not. If it's not, they can cancel the sale.

Personally I've never had anyone wanting Relay yet but, if I did, I would have to cancel the sale as they don't operate here.

3 ⭐️ for a full stop? 😂
I felt like it wasn’t that deep but people are really sensitive to punctuation and positively triggered by emojis 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not that deep, but definitely weird and rude.

NameChangePoP · 17/02/2026 10:14

Sorry OP, but that's incredibly rude. It's on par with the question mark that people send on its own when you've not responded quickly enough.

I ignore those people.

I have to know, what delivery method did they choose that gives a ten day collection window? I like Inpost but the collection times can be a bit tight sometimes, although I've not yet received any punctuation from sellers 😄.

Evri, I’m much more used to the tight dates so think that’s why it occurred to me to drop a dot. To be honest I was far more expecting them to say they were going to be unable to collect so I just rather know to expect it back.

Thank you.
Annoyingly I've just looked up my nearest Evri locker and it's not close enough to be a regular viable option. Hopefully more will crop up in future.

Most corner shops take Evri orders around here. Obviously every area is different (especially remote villages), but it might be worth looking into. We have loads of inpost lockers in my town but hardly any Evri.

Inpost is always my preferred option, as I like the convenience of being able to collect and deliver parcels any time of day, without relying on a shop's opening hours. I also like not having to queue at the till for them. If Inpost isn't an option though, I go with Evri and take them to/collect them from one of the local shops (Tesco Express, Premier etc, most of them take Evri around here).

True, it wasn't too bad, the newsagent was near, just not one I even knew existed til now.

Also, the item I was selling doesn't attract too many offers (I was selling it at full price), so I was just glad it sold.

Obviously we don't know the value of this particular sale, but if someone messaged me personally to prompt me to collect a parcel I'd automatically assume they really really need the money to clear quickly. Obviously it's the buyer's prerogative to collect whenever they can/want within the time frame, so sellers should not be relying on sites like Vinted for a quick payday if they're desperate for money. However, that would be my assumption if I received a chasing up message from a seller.

If worded politely, it wouldn't bother me. I would respond back equally politely explaining why I hadn't collected yet and when I hoped to collect by, to give them an idea of when to expect the funds. If they simply sent a full stop, I would collect as late as possible as manners cost nothing no matter how desperate you are for cash.

Not everyone realises how Vinted works. I think some people who just use it to buy assume that the seller gets payed as soon as the sale goes through (as that's when the money leaves their own account). Some people don't realise that Vinted hold the funds and only release them to the seller upon confirmation all is ok with the parcel. My friend certainly didn't realise this. We had a chat once about Vinted and she said "oh I don't bother with the confirmation button as it updates automatically after 48 hours anyway. Sometimes I don't have time to check something properly before then". She's also someone who often leaves it more than a week to collect her parcels, too. As soon as I pointed out that the seller is waiting on that money to be released, so it's polite to confirm as soon as possible, rather than make them wait another 2 days, she was like "oh, maybe that's why I don't get many sellers leaving me positive feedback." 😂 Now she's a seller too, she gets it a lot more.

I don't think it's fair to assume that.

Remember that Vinted also notify the seller that the customer buyer hasn't collected the item yet, so it's natural for the seller to remind the buyer. It also saves the buyer money because they are the ones who pay for delivery, not he seller.

You seem to think that the seller's time and effort in packaging up the parcel, not to mention money spent on petrol to the post office is worthless.

Do you buy or sell on Vinted? You don't seem to understand the spirit of Vinted at all.

sprigatito · 17/02/2026 10:29

I think sellers on Vinted generally need to calm the fuck down, tbh. I hate the cajoling little messages if I’ve had a parcel delivered while I’m out for the day so can’t open it immediately, the over sharing and obsequiousness when they need to ask for an extension, it’s just too much and annoys the shit out of me. I am quite rigorous about accepting the order and leaving feedback immediately on opening the parcel - people often really need the money - but if I’m not at home when it’s delivered, or I can’t collect it straight away, then they need to wait until I can get to it. If someone sent me a full stop I would be furious. It’s unbelievably rude and ignorant.

DarkForces · 17/02/2026 10:31

Vinted already nag you daily. Absolutely no need for reminders especially with a . rather than an actual message

Overtheatlantic · 17/02/2026 10:36

Wait I don’t understand?

“Just a reminder that your parcel is waiting at the collection point.”

or

”.”

which of these is rude?

Yes, I buy and sell regularly. I would have thought that was obvious from my post, given that I am explaining how Vinted don't release funds until confirmation from the buyer that everything is ok?🤷🏻‍♀️

That's a very strange way of interpreting my post. I'm just explaining, rightly or wrongly, why I would assume a seller is chasing me up (as they really don't need to, with all the Vinted reminders). I would* *simply assume they really need that money to clear, hence their need to prompt me. I'm not judging people for needing money to clear quickly, if that's what you're thinking? To be honest, it's never happened to me where someone has chased me up, as I always collect within a day or two of delivery. I'm just saying that, if it did, i would assume that's why. No biggy. As a seller, I've never chased anyone up because Vinted (and inpost etc) do it for you. Hence my conclusion that, if someone does chase their buyer up, they're probably doing it for a legitimate reason. I'm trying to understand why someone would chase up a collection, being supportive of those who do. You seem to have interpreted my comments as the opposite. I'm far from judging!

Quite how you came to the conclusion that I think the seller's time is worthless (I'm a seller myself!) or that I don't understand the 'spirit of Vinted' (whatever that is supposed to be 😂 ) from that I don't know.

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 10:48

For clarity I’m not in a rush for payment, it’s the lowest value thing I’ve sent out. It’s more that I have posted out quite a few things and became aware this has been sat at the bottom of my orders.
I know from experience that Vinted sends so many reminders they sort of lose all meaning, a seller message pops up a bit differently.
Obviously I should have written out a line but was worried I would come across naggy when I just wanted to open the line of communication if needed. As I said I was expecting a response more along the lines of “I can no longer collect/no longer require” so I can plan accordingly/ remember to collect it myself. If they are still planning to collect I wouldn’t expect them to respond at all as the collection notice is the response.

Again just to say if there ever is a next time I’ll write something more tactful.

I think you just need to own the fact that you were a bit of a dick. Unintentionally perhaps but a dick nevertheless.

I know from experience that Vinted sends so many reminders they sort of lose all meaning, a seller message pops up a bit differently.

Then you should know that you were nagging them (despite claiming you didn’t want to sound naggy) and for what you now admit is a low value item anyway. Seller (or buyer) messages easily get buried in Vinted’s inbox. The ‘official’ Vinted messages are more effective (and less easily missed) so all you’ve achieved is to piss someone off. And I guess give MN new material. 😜

NewGoldFox · 17/02/2026 08:46

Too lazy to pick up their parcels promptly apparently 😂

They have a deadline and they haven't exceeded it.

stopringingme · 17/02/2026 11:02

As a buyer you get reminders from vinted and the courier so they will be well aware their parcel is ready to collect.

I would be tempted to leave it till the last day and then not complete until the 48hours after collection is up if I was sent a full stop - use your words.

Buyers get 48hours to check an item after delivery/collection so don't be surprised if they leave you waiting - please don't be tempted to send any other punctuation marks @NewGoldFox

If you don't want to wait don't offer that courier as an option, change your settings in the postage section which is found in profile.

I get more annoyed with sellers not leaving feedback, I usually complete a transaction within minutes of the item being delivered (if I am at home) and leave feedback but some sellers do not leave feedback which I think is rude, buyers do not get automatic feedback.

NormaNormalPants · 17/02/2026 11:36

Gosh you sound like the buyer I had the other week. Messaged mid morning on a weekday to ask me if I could measure an item (listed at £1.50), then proceeded to send me 3 messages with just “????” all before 5pm. I replied later that day when I had a chance, no reply, then received an offer the next day quickly followed by more “????” messages. They eventually paid full price but cancelled an hour later as I hadn’t requested the postage label quickly enough 🙄

Cherrysoup · 17/02/2026 11:42

I had a package returned because the buyer wasn’t receiving notifications, so when a buyer hadn’t collected a package this week, I sent a message saying ‘Just in case you aren’t getting notifications, your package arrived on xxx 😊’. I would have had no idea what a full stop meant. Why not just write a polite note? I know Vinted send reminders, but on this occasion, I didn’t want a returned package as I’d had previously. Buyer was polite back and thanked me.

Honestly I would have blocked at the first ???. I can't be bothered with rude/pushy people, they tend to be more likely to cause problems further on down the line.

OriginalSkang · 17/02/2026 12:00

I only ever message when I get a message from Vinted to say its about to be returned. I say "Hi. Just checking you've got forgotten about this. I think its going to be sent back tomorrow 😊"

I would think it pretty rude to receive a full stop

Anndalouzier · 17/02/2026 12:05

Oh fgs full stop
i once collected something from the shop and within two hours, the seller was hassling me to say I got it and everything was okay

Ninerainbows · 17/02/2026 12:06

That's really rude and abrupt! Like you can't be arsed to write a sentence. Wow.

BillieWiper · 17/02/2026 12:07

I wouldn't ever send a full stop as any form of communication on its own. It's bizarre.

Politely remind them the delivery is there and hope they can pick it up soon?

WhatAreYouDoingSundayBaby · 17/02/2026 12:21

Sorry OP, I hate when Vinted sellers harass me to collect/confirm a package as soon as they're notified it has arrived/been collected, it's really frustrating and that's when they actually send a polite message! If someone sent me a full-stop I wouldn't even click that this could be the reason why they'd be doing it.

Harrietsaunt · 17/02/2026 12:22

Funny enough I just had to message a buyer who has until tomorrow at 9:30 to collect a Vinted item. I said:

Hi, do you think you will be able to collect the item by 9:30 tomorrow? They don’t give you very long before they send it back!”

Friendly, informative, non judgy.
