Scared of growing resentment towards people of colour

Is anyone else scared there will be a war in the UK? Elon Musk seems to be encouraging it and Donald Trump supports far-right ideas, saying that European countries face civilisational erasure due to immigration. When you've got the rich and powerful like Sir Jim Ratcliffe saying that the UK has been colonised by immigrants, this just stokes people's anger even more against non-white immigrants. More and more white people are growing resentful of non-white people.

I think all those ideas are abhorrent, but, no, I'm not scared that there is going to be a war.

I think so far we have coped with the changes to society pretty well so far but I can see the speed of change has caused difficulties, my family has mixed heritage and there are different cultural expectations over women’s roles etc.

Do you know how this has been predicted? Also from a mixed family but in my case adult family children who are mixed race marrying and having their own children who look white, blond hair blue eyes etc.

Society at the moment seems obsessed by war - or at least those with power seem obsessed with it - either the Russians invading or some kind of civil war in the UK. I'm not going to worry about it as worry doesn't achieve anything, but I do wonder where it's all heading.

For starters some people that are not white do not like being called people of colour. It’s an Americanism that has unfortunatley arrived here. I am of Chinese origin and do not like it, born here, my family arrived decades ago. They came with the correct papers and through the correct channels.

I will tell you right now that some people do not like the level of immigration and that does include immigrants or their descendants, especially with cultures that do not integrate are religous zealous or culturally treat women as lesser humans.

Who do you mix with op as @BMW6 writes their not white neighbours do not like the amount of immigration. Our family includes various nationalities as DH massively liberal family that are historically totally white have a generation who married Chinese, Korean and Indian people. All met at University and these people are all people like me. Settled and whilst embracing their own cultures are sensitive about British culture.

I recently had to see a hospital consultant, he was Nigerian. Actual racists would not like him. They are actually few and far between, shouting racist at anyone who wants to debate and has a concern about immigration will actually and has already caused division. I’m assuming you are wracked with white guilt, people need to stop this. My DH family are all like this.

I think it’s cultural differences that cause the clash not race. Human’s were tribal for a long time, we do notice differences. Most of us are pretty accommodating and understand that we are part of a bigger world but I think the problems occur when incoming cultures clash with the resident culture. I think history has shown this in all the invasions that have occurred between countries and cultures.

I don't giving a sh@t what colour you are. I do give a sh@t that daily, illegals are arriving with clearly different cultural expectations and view women less than. The country is on its knees and we cannot keep accepting them and housing them. This is not about race it's about finances and protecting females.

Hear, hear. Why lump everyone who isn't white into a big group and leave just white people out of that? It doesn't make any sense. I'm mixed white and Asian, why would I have more in common with black people than white people? According to the NEU I'm a "Black NEU member": when I queried this they said that covered "all POC". It actually erases black people as well as other ethnicities.

"BAME" went out of favour for being too generic. POC is worse. It's literally defining people by the "colour" of their skin

I am a naturalised immigrant (that means I have British nationality now) and pay lots of taxes here and have done since I was 22yo. I hate this assumption that because I'm an immigrant, I'm fine with other immigrants living off benefits and I must be left wing by default because I'm "a POC". It's patronising. I have a colleague (as it happens, a white man) who was aghast that I have these views.

I'm not about to vote Reform, because I don't agree with all of their ideas, but I do agree with the general principle that there are too few net contributors in this country, and I'm glad people are trying to think of ways to shift the balance

All this tiptoeing around so we "don't look racist" means that things like severe disabilities arising from repeated first cousin marriage aren't discussed properly because we're scared of "offending" people.

My family is entirely white and there are still cultural expectations and differences to manage, it's called being a human person interacting with other human people.
