Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

Cantkeepaname · 13/02/2026 20:59

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

There’s reasons that they won’t prescribe at your bmi , will you be using the NHS if it all goes wrong ? Guessing you will .

And will obese people be using the NHS when their over eating goes wrong? Guess they will too.

OP was one and a half stone overweight, if that. She was not obese.

Cantkeepaname · 14/02/2026 08:22

Sorry I didn’t reply last night I was out (unfortunately not with said friend!)
to answer a few questions-

  • there was only 1 pen in my fridge, I have not used it in 2 weeks but just left it in there because wel it’s my fridge and why not, there wasn’t a dose left unless I wanted to try get the 5th dose out of it.
  • I 100% lost that weight with only 2 pens - it’s really not difficult when you are not hungry so have to remember to eat.
  • i don’t feel like I cheated or lied to my friend, yes we were both trying to lose weight but it’s not like we had an agreement or were doing it together. Just happened to both be trying at same time.
  • no I’m not worried about putting the weight back on, since stopping I still lost 1pound this week and the feeling of looking in the mirror and feeling great stops me from snacking
  • I paid for it- no ruining the nhs. I also have private health insurance but that’s another arguement.
  • lying to get the jab really wasn’t difficult, I picked up my dog when I stood on scales as they only need a photo of the scale numbers

Nothing offensive about being smug (even outwardly) about something that doesn’t affect your friend. She’s probably just jealous and a bit weird

DotAndCarryOne2 · 14/02/2026 08:32

ToKittyornottoKitty · 13/02/2026 21:08

You sound pretty smug on here so it probably came across when you told her too

Except she didn’t. The friend found the Mounjaro in OP’s fridge and kicked off.

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 14/02/2026 08:41

It’s an extreme reaction in my view OP. Has she mentioned her views on jabs before? I wonder if she is deep down comfortable with her decision at toughing it out. It could be that it makes her feel a bit foolish? Because what you’ve done highlights her alternative choice. “Ashamed of yourself” - come again?

I don’t know if it’s a direct parallel but I had a friend really snap at me about Botox usage. We were speaking in a trio, and my other friend asked me who I see for Botox and I answered. My other friend then snapped and goes: “I’ve spoken to my husband and we’ve BOTH agreed I’m going to age naturally, and by you speaking about Botox you’re normalising it”. She’s made a few digs at me about it since (I didn’t mention it but she will bring it up in a jibey way) and I suspect it’s because deep down she wants to do it. I shan’t furrow my brow about it - because I can’t haha.

You can’t live your life to please everyone else OP. Just as other users say, make sure you don’t get too low in weight (not sure how tall you are but at 8.5 stone you can’t be overweight).

im intending to use it post pregnancy and breast feeding to help with the 2 stone IVF weight gain xx

I love that you’re smug! I would be to! Luckily I don’t need the stuff. Your friend is just jealous. That’s worse than smug imo.

This.

Your friend is jealous. Not even sure why she's angry. It's your body your rules.

Well done for the weight loss OP.

Op hasn’t stated how tall she is nor what her BMI was/is , but guessing she was never obese at 10 stone

B12stuff · 14/02/2026 08:49

lying to get the jab really wasn’t difficult, I picked up my dog when I stood on scales as they only need a photo of the scale numbers

I am curious @Cantkeepaname , how did you manage to take the photo whilst standing on the scales holding your dog? Did someone else take it for you?

bugalugs45 · 14/02/2026 08:51

My dogs 50kg , I might try this 😂

Zanatdy · 14/02/2026 08:58

People get funny about others losing weight. Even before WLI people were jealous and acted strangely around friends who lost weight. It’s pretty easy to get WLI so if she wants them herself, she can get some. Someone I know (not a friend, daughter of a friend) is on them, and so are half of her friends and they buy them off someone locally. Like everything, there appears to be a black market for this kind of thing.

Oneforallandallforone · 14/02/2026 08:58

Grammarnut · 13/02/2026 21:26

But you haven't taught your body to adjust its food intake. And lying to get a prescription of something like mounjaro is dangerous. The doses are set for your weight, I think, and if you are less heavy than you said you may be taking too large a dose.
I hope you keep the weight off. But your friend is losing weight the sensible way, presumably at the rate of about a 1lb a week. That will lead to sustainable weight loss if you have done it by changing your eating habits.
You are a bit smug - I think that's what sticks in your friend's craw.

FWIW I list 1.5 stones at 1.5kbs a week over 6-8 months by counting calories. It absolutely didn’t stay off. As soon as I started eating carbs, it went back on much faster than it went off.
So the idea of this method being easier to maintain is rubbish.

I think your friend is just envious OP. So am I - I think I’m going to do the same as you. I’m finding it harder and harder to lose weight.

SkylarkKitten · 14/02/2026 09:04

Maybe she thought you were on a weight loss journey together and now you've lost the weight you wanted and she's left behind. Only you know how close your friendship really is, and would know why she was so bothered.

I'd be interested to know how long you keep the weight off and remain at your ideal weight. Long term, I suspect your friends way of doing things will lead to a more sustainable loss for her.

EatMoreChocolate44 · 14/02/2026 09:08

Taking medical drugs that aren't necessary is reckless and dangerous. The risks obviously outweigh the benefits for obese people and that is why they are prescribed this medicine and don't lie to get it. You are risking malnutrition, muscle wastage, pancreatitis, digestive issues etc. Then there are the moral implications, driving prices up for a drug that some people really need, creating shortages, health care issues adding drain to the healthcare system. There are societal issues, adding to the idea that being thin is better, moving away from the body positivity images that were so encouraging for many and now we are regressing back to the 90s when stick thin, unhealthy models were the beauty standard. This puts pressure on people to be thin especially impressionable young people. You have celebrities that have taken it and not needed it. Robbie Williams got scurvy, Avery Cyrus osteoporosis and just look at Kelly Osborne who is obviously malnourished. It's your money, your body, your choice OP but there could be many reasons why your friend doesn't support you in your lie.

Cantkeepaname · 14/02/2026 09:11

Why do some people think those that use the jabs will just put it all back on but those who don’t use the jabs won’t?
surely if I don’t over eat then I won’t put the weight back on whatever process I use?
my body and mind have adjusted to not overeating so I’m not using the jab now and haven’t put weight on, I lost a pound this week.
I know people that lost massive amounts on the jabs who stopped long ago and not put weight back on and I know people that lost the old fashioned way then put weight back on

OP posts:
Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala · 14/02/2026 09:17

But what is the OP lying about?

Unless they’ve been losing weight together and one has been secretly taking the jabs, what is she lying about?

Why is it anyone else’s business how you lose weight.

Have a read up on the epidemic of gall bladder problems people have several years after using weight loss injections before you get too smug about having no side effects whatsoever.

Charlize43 · 14/02/2026 09:22

Maybe smugness and bragging?

With the cost of living crisis not everyone can afford jab pens.

May not be jealousy, but your friend has probably lost respect for you as she can see that you have no moral compass about telling lies. She may be wondering what other things you lie about...

If a friend of mine turned up and admitted that she'd shoplifted her outfit from Primark, I'd probably feel slightly nervous about having her in my house (as well as having poor taste in clothes).

Your weight loss may look fab, but telling lies is never a great look.

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala · 14/02/2026 09:27

But the OP hasn’t told lies! She just hasn’t told anyone she’s lost weight by using the jabs. Because it’s no one else’s business. If the OP said ‘yes I’ve lost weight through diet and exercise’, then that is lying. Not talking about it because she not talking about her weight loss isn’t lying.

I have Botox, am I lying about that because I haven’t told anyone?

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 14/02/2026 09:28

I mean, there's nothing wrong with losing weight that way but it's hardly something to congratulate anyone for, because it doesn't take any effort on their part

it does take effort, you have to be in a calorie deficit….its not magic

it does make being in that calorie deficit much much easier for most people

Mrsblobby88 · 14/02/2026 09:30

I really don't see how the OP sounds smug- she has openly told her mate how she managed to lose weight?! So fucking what!
i don't know why your mate is annoyed- she should be happy that your happy- she's fucking pathetic and the people on here saying that they would bin you off as a friend for being smug, are fucking pathetic aswell!

good on you op. I'm glad you feel happier in yourself!

Oh give over there is no epidemic of gall bladder issues, and gall bladder issues occur without the injections and are usually due to weight loss and gain.

and for the poster who was havering on about no congrats due, no one, but no one loses weight for the congratulations. They do it to be slim.

and the op hasn’t lied. She wasn’t on a journey with her mate, not telling everyone things about you doesn’t make you a liar.

Good for you, your paid for it privately and if even if you had it on the nhs theres a strict criteria where they give it so not a matter of walking into docs and asking for a script. I know some people who it didnt work for and they had to quit due to side effects and people in their 60a who found new confidence and went further to take care of themselves like teeth implants, breast lift, face lift surgery etc and they look -15years
