Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

Cantkeepaname · 13/02/2026 20:59

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

You def come off as smug! 🤣

Fair enough 🤭 I'll take it - I put on 1 and half stone so I'm definitely not that smug.

AgentJohnson · 14/02/2026 06:01

The risk profile for someone who doesn’t meet the requirements is very different to someone who does. GLP’s are very powerful drugs and sadly their abuse by so many who see them as a quick fix just adds to the discourse. The rules are there for a reason and I’m disappointed that circumnavigating them are so bloody easy.

Your smugness might not be as internal as you think.

IcantFeelMyFaceNow · 14/02/2026 06:16

The reason is likely that a lot of people like to think of their friends as being fundamentally honest and decent individuals. When something happens to contradict that, some people can react.

My close friends I am confident are very honest. When I find out they are not, unless it's something terrible, I just sort of phase them back a bit because I no longer trust them. If it's something terrible, I phase them and totally drop them.

Maybe she simply thought you were more honest than she now sees you as.

She is not at fault so much as shocked.

She is free to make these distinctions. You are free to do what you wish. There is no fault here really.

You do realise you experience rapid weight gain upon cessation of the tablets?

Seriously?

Care? Don’t be daft!

TheDivergentEnigma · 14/02/2026 07:13

Nevermind the weight loss, it's the fact you lied.

You will be the lovely OP to your friends and family, but the moment you can get away with lying and deceitfulness to get what you want when no ones looking, you will, that's the issue.

I'd be starting to doubt if I ever really knew you at all, and if you'd ever lied to me but have just not been caught out. I think I'd question if I could trust you again, now that you've shown what you're prepared to do to get what you want.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/02/2026 07:18

Doingtheboxerbeat · 14/02/2026 04:07

I think the cheering on the OP is to counteract the outrage responses. Posters acting like they're so concerned by how dangerously irresponsible the OP is, then sticking the boot in, in the same sentence.

It's giving , bitterness or envy because they either can't afford it or are too sensible nervous to take it themselves.

I used medication to quit smoking last year because it's a thousand times easier and more effective than using willpower or pointless nicotine replacement alone. The reason It's so effective is because it' comes with some quite serious side effects, but similar to the people taking these weight loss drugs, for me it's worth the risk.
I hope I don't come off as smug to my many friends who are still smoking or vaping, but if I do , so be it.

Smoking kills. Being a size 10 instead of a size 8 doesn't.

You wouldn't have taken them with their risks if you were a half a Silk Cut at the Christmas party and nothing else all year smoker - and if you then, along with a bunch of other one fag a year when plastered people took it started complaining of high risk side effects, such as vastly increased levels of suicidal ideation or a higher incidence of life threatening episodes when drinking alcohol, it would make it far more likely the medications are withdrawn altogether so that nobody who is actually smoking 40 a day has access to them every again.

FaintingGoats · 13/02/2026 22:17

lol this is my sister in law. Dropped about four stone in as many months (may be a slight exaggeration but it was drastic in a very short space of time). “Oh the weight has just fallen off really I don’t really know why 😁 oh no I’d NEVER take the jabs” tinkly laugh.

Edited

It could be for other reasons. I put on a lot of weight during my marriage (various reasons). When my DH died the weight literally fell off of me. Stress vomiting and a complete loss of appetite.

3 years on, I’m still only half the weight I was when he died - now 8.5 stone and 5’4” tall. 🤷‍♀️

The stress vomiting is over, but my appetite has never returned to anywhere near normal.

But, I’m really tired of people assuming/asking me/telling me that I MUST have been taking MJ.

I’m not and never have. Nor have I followed a weight loss diet. Stress alone did it. 🙄

Frenchfrychic · 14/02/2026 07:34

LadyCrustybread · 13/02/2026 22:14

Because 8.5st at 5’6 is a BMI of 18.9. At 10st (19lbs more) she would be BMI 22.6. You need a BMI of 30 to get the jab (27 for some ethnicities).

So she would need to have said she was 13.5 stone to get her BMI up to 30. That is 5.5st up from her current weight. Take 1.5st off the 13.5st (which is what OP said she added to her actual weight) and she would be 12st. 3.5st more than her current weight.

Losing 3.5st in 10 weeks would require a loss of 49lbs (4.9lbs a week). Thats a caloric deficit of 17,000 calories a week (more than most women eat in a week on maintenance).

So unless OP has been eating nothing at all for 10 week she was not 12st to begin with and has therefore added a lot more than 1.5st to her original weight.

But she didn’t say she was 5ft 6?

Frenchfrychic · 14/02/2026 07:35

This thread is bonkers, it really has brought out all the jealous resentful folk.

do people really beleive these are largely untested experimental drugs. The ignorance and lack of knowledge is mind blowing.

DabOfPistachio · 14/02/2026 07:38

PickledElectricity · 13/02/2026 21:29

Sorry is everyone missing the bit where OP was 10 stone and is now 8.5 stone?! Unless she's 4'10" she was a perfectly normal weight for her height.

Have you suffered from eating disorders in the past, @op ?

This. Unless OP is very short, it's likely that given the weights given, she is now very underweight. '
If this is the case, it's very possible friend was worried or shocked and OP prefers to describe that as angry.
There is an issue with people with eating disorder trying to get around the rules to get jabs. It's one of the reasons for the photos and the scales, but of course, as OP has done, there are tricks to make you look heavier. We don't know all the details here but I don't think cheering someone on for losing weight by lying to get prescription meds is a good idea.

She doesn’t need to be very short, she could be five foot, and of an ethnic minority,

dont Get me wrong I think it’s utter bullshit as well.

pouletvous · 14/02/2026 07:42

I hope the weight stays off forever and the jabs dont have any adverse affects on your health OP

She could be 5ft 5in and that weight is a healthy BMI.

What are you using that would make her very underweight? I used the NHS guidelines.

Boomer55 · 14/02/2026 07:43

Unless a medic is going to physically weigh everyone who wants these jabs, which would put the costs up, you’ll always have people lying about their weight, which may or not be a good thing, longer term.

But, I guess it’s a risk people are willing to take. And it’s up to them.

That's just the thing though - I too had to lie play down my poor mental health issues in order to receive the medication because I was desperate to give up smoking - I wouldn't have qualified if I had been truthful.
I'll be honest, it was quite bad , but luckily I had the witheral to tell my closest friends and my mum to talk my off the ledge should I start being erratic which I was 😖.

Beatriz85 · 14/02/2026 07:45

I for one think the friend is being unreasonable. Your body, your choice. If I was your friend, I would have said you were a bit stupid to go for injections and leave it at that. Being so angry is an over reaction

ShawnaMacallister · 14/02/2026 07:46

MidWayThruJanuary · 13/02/2026 23:59

Are most people not lying to get them?

Why would most people be lying to get them? You don't think there are enough obese people around?

lessglittermoremud · 14/02/2026 07:53

Unless you are fairly petite around 5ft
8.5 stone is a probably underweight which might be why your friend is angry, perhaps your friend is worried about you?

aCatCalledFawkes · 14/02/2026 07:58

I don't have any judgement about using the jab itself.

However, at my exercise classes there are a few women who have lied to get the jab and are now walking around dangerously skinny, definitely not in a toned up, lean muscle way but in fragile way. You can see there ribs and the weight loss around there face has given them a hollow look with boney cheeks. It's actually really sad and difficult to know what to say.

I’ve lost a stone recently. I haven’t had a conversation about it with anyone.

Why is it anyone’s business. Stop taking stuff so fucking personally, it’s not about you. Or the friend, in this case.

TheBlueKoala · 14/02/2026 08:07

You feel smug because you lied to get wli to lose a bit of weight? Am I missing something? I would feel slightly embarrassed needing wli when not obese. Smugness is for those who manage to control their eating by willforce not by injecting something that makes you lose your appetite. Everyone can lose weight on wli while pure willforce and determination is for a selected few. (Not talking about obese people who obviously need medical help before anyone jumps on me- I'm talking about OP and the Sharon Osborne types).

Care? Don’t be daft!

you do understand how public forums work??🙄

You cared enough to comment.

“Your lying by deception and lying to your friends and family, if you want to be on WLI, own it, don’t be a liar, no one likes a liar!“

Why should anyone have to “admit” to friends or family that they are in WLI, unless they actually want to?

It’s no one else’s business fs.
Do you tell everyone what medication you’re on? Would you tell people that you were on anti-depressants, for example?

Why should the OP “own it?”

You cared enough to comment, didn’t you?

bugalugs45 · 14/02/2026 08:10

There’s reasons that they won’t prescribe at your bmi , will you be using the NHS if it all goes wrong ? Guessing you will .
