Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

Cantkeepaname · 13/02/2026 20:59

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

abuse is never good but OP wrote this

I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted.

she lied. That is shit. She also lied (by omission) to her friend. that is shit

OP lied to get the jab. How is that shit ? How does it affect anyone but herself ? It’s a risk, but it’s hers to take - she’s a grown woman with agency. She didn’t lie to her friend, even by omission. It’s none of her friends’ business how she lost the weight and she doesn’t owe her an explanation. Had l been OP l would have shown her the door when she kicked off, horribly entitled.

DotAndCarryOne2 · 14/02/2026 15:33

Yep. I lost 8 stones a few years ago - not WLI. It was over a 12 month period and because l’d been very overweight and lost much of it quite quickly l ended up with gallstones.

yes, its always been a known weightloss issue. I think the issue has had publicity recently because WLI not used carefully is a recent cause.

I’m not sure it’s not used carefully, more it’s so many more people are now losing weight, so it would increase by default as the population moves to a healthy weight and obesity rates reverse.

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala · 14/02/2026 13:52

We don’t know if she was a healthy weight as we don’t know how tall she is. I’m 5ft 2 and would not be happy weighing 10 stone.

Anyway it’s irrelevant as she paid for it, whether she needed it or not.

You might not be happy but you would only just be tipping into the overweight category. And no where near obese!

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 14/02/2026 15:56

godmum56 · 14/02/2026 14:44

aparently the gall bladder issue is to do with the speed of weightloss and not due to the method used

Absolutely

DotAndCarryOne2 · 14/02/2026 16:00

lovelyweatherforasleighride · 14/02/2026 11:06

No, the GLP1s repurposed for WLI were approved for use with a different population, type 2 diabetics, and have been in use for around 19 years. GLP1s for obesity have only been approved since 2022.

It's a different population, and a different risk profile, and a different dose. And OP is by her own word not obese, and had to lie to get her shots.

Edited

This. And in the USA Mounjaro can’t be prescribed for weight loss unless off label, as it’s only FDA approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is essentially exactly the same drug but is prescribed for weight loss.

dontletmedownbruce · 14/02/2026 16:01

What is stopping her going down the same route if she feels this strongly about it? Have you asked? Does she enjoy being mayrtred by her weight?

Elsvieta · 14/02/2026 16:01

Possiges · 13/02/2026 21:08

How did you make the scales heavier????

Mechanical scales have a little dial, you just turn it. For digital ones I suppose you could wear a backpack full of something heavy...

HRTQueen · 14/02/2026 16:02

Op we are not really meant to be happier slimmer, feel better about ourselves and certainly not admit we look better since losing weight

its down to woman should not be confident in ourselves we should always have a little doubt ….

and if we don’t we are smug etc

good for you enjoy feeling good

Pinkgin00 · 14/02/2026 16:05

Probably just jealously, you've lost it quick because you have taken the lazy route effectively, whilst she's probably working hard to lose it naturally.

HeadLake · 14/02/2026 16:05

BigButtons · 14/02/2026 15:29

We are talking about older women who undergo drastic and fast weight loss, not people who are genetically slim. I am also very slim- if I were to deliberately lose weight the natural fat on my cheeks would go and I would not look good.

The original post said something about how skinny people always look older. Nothing about weight loss mentioned.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 14/02/2026 16:17

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala · 14/02/2026 12:24

So the OP should have told her friend she was using WLI? Why? What business is it of her friends? Do your friends have to share every detail of their lives to you?

I think you have misunderstood the post I was replying to. I was replying to a poster who said if her friend did this she would stop contact without saying why. Nothing to do with the OP.

Your answer makes no sense, zepbound is the same drug made by the same manufacturer, what difference does brand make? It’s like saying ozempic isn’t approved here, no it’s not, but wegovy is. And it’s also the same drug.

Oneforallandallforone · 14/02/2026 08:58

FWIW I list 1.5 stones at 1.5kbs a week over 6-8 months by counting calories. It absolutely didn’t stay off. As soon as I started eating carbs, it went back on much faster than it went off.
So the idea of this method being easier to maintain is rubbish.

I think your friend is just envious OP. So am I - I think I’m going to do the same as you. I’m finding it harder and harder to lose weight.

Don't cut out carbohydrates. I do Slimming World and though the weight will go back on, they don't ask you to follow a diet but to eat healthily but switch foods which are heavy in calories (like cream, cooking oils etc) for lower calorie foods e.g. 0% yoghurt. You can stay on this diet and be flexible - I ate what I chose at Christmas but making sure at least half my plate was filled with veg - and you will not put the weight back on. Diets are pointless, you have to change the way you eat. Which means mounjaro is a life-time medication.

its the speed of weightloss that causes the gall bladder problem which is why I talked about it's not being used carefully. Obesity is also a cause of gallbladder problems so I don't think its to do with the reversal of national obesity rates per se. To be clear, I have no skin in this game. I have no wish to use WLI myself and think that those who wish to should be able to without being policed or shamed by the "its too easy" brigade. From what I have read, it is currently sensible to keep it on prescription because of the potential for misuse.

To all the folk still replying, I'm willing to bet my stash of tirz, that it's a big fat porky, just like the one she was chowing on when writing the post, wishing she was the 8.5 stone that she dreamed up in her pissed up fantasy post 😂

Well, you could be right. I answered, honestly, with how much weight I’d lost with stress, along with some of my hair 🙄

Ive ended up with a BMI of 17 and trying to put on weight.

If people think weight loss is everything, to make them happy, then best jog on. 🤷‍♀️

true if someone has rapid weight loss it can cause the liver to excrete cholesterol into the gall bladder, and of course you’ve high cholesterol risk if obese, I think most folks don’t do rapid weight loss, it’s usually up to 2lbs a week.

zzaaghd · 14/02/2026 16:32

I do think this thread is a wind up because of the way it’s written, the faux naivety of the sensitivity around WLI is just pure rage bait.

But it’s not unrealistic at all, I’ve managed to get WLI through a legitimate supplier by reducing my height and exaggerating my weight and taking a very unflattering photo while bloated on my period lol. 2.5mg mournjaro was hugely successful and the weight came off with no effort, and mostly staying off but I’m considering taking a couple of times of month to help maintain.

I have a very good diet generally and have sat in a healthy BMI all my adult life (I am actually very health conscious, eat very little UPF and regularly exercise), but when my sweet tooth takes over I struggle with snacking which the older I get is pushing me into the top end of healthy and it does not look good. It got me back to a BMI of 22 with zero effort, it just completely took the edge off cravings and allowed me to focus on what I should be eating.

I do think we are going to see these become more widely available as time goes on.

In fact @Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalayou have given the same reply to @PollyBellas I did so why on earth did you come back all snappy to me? Did you mean to reply to someone else ?

Sorry I didn’t reply last night I was out (unfortunately not with said friend!)
to answer a few questions-

  • there was only 1 pen in my fridge, I have not used it in 2 weeks but just left it in there because wel it’s my fridge and why not, there wasn’t a dose left unless I wanted to try get the 5th dose out of it.
  • I 100% lost that weight with only 2 pens - it’s really not difficult when you are not hungry so have to remember to eat.
  • i don’t feel like I cheated or lied to my friend, yes we were both trying to lose weight but it’s not like we had an agreement or were doing it together. Just happened to both be trying at same time.
  • no I’m not worried about putting the weight back on, since stopping I still lost 1pound this week and the feeling of looking in the mirror and feeling great stops me from snacking
  • I paid for it- no ruining the nhs. I also have private health insurance but that’s another arguement.
  • lying to get the jab really wasn’t difficult, I picked up my dog when I stood on scales as they only need a photo of the scale numbers

Drip drip...

So you were BOTH trying to lose weight, she was no doubt impressed by how well you were doing compared to her, then discovered you were cheating (and had also lied to be able to cheat) and she had gone for the willpower method so now probably feels pissed off that you weren't honest with her.

It's not difficult to see why she is annoyed.

I didn’t cut them out but I reduced dramatically. I followed WeightWatchers and it’s fine if you never come off it, as soon as I stopped what is essentially calorie counting, the weight went back on.

I prefer WW to Slimming World (I’ve done that too) and found WW healthier. .

liveforsummer · 14/02/2026 16:59

the pictures are just a formality, they don’t actually care if you are lying or not as long as they are making money therefore easy enough to provide false ones as OP has demonstrated. Much like getting anti biotisc etc online. Easy enough to find out the answers they want to the questions. The friend is probably just annoyed she didn’t think of it too tbh

How’s she cheating, it’s not a competition, they were not doing it together, the op is free to lose weight any way she wishes. Why on earth do people seem to think weight loss is some form of competitive sport and people are entitled to know how you did it;

honesrly jog on with that.

toally agree with this , I had an email saying they couldn’t prescribe a 10mg pen to me unless I could prove that I’d had a prescription within the last 6 weeks ( I couldn’t due to bulk buying pre price rise August, this was January ) , so I left it and purchased elsewhere , next thing they’ve sent out the pen without said proof or further questions .
Companies are literally ticking boxes for prescribing , ageee it’s all about the cash .
