I’d love a housekeeper to keep on top of everything, laundry, making sure everything’s clean etc. I absolutely hate the relentless pressure of cleaning but my OCD makes sure I do it!

A chauffeur. I bloody hate driving.

A cleaner and a chef.

Seconded.

I always used to say I’d like someone to put crispy clean sheets on my bed every day, but now I’m much more conscious of the environment so I guess that’s out now !
Definitely a house keeper and someone to do all the paperwork/ planning etc. And a florist so that I have flowers in every room all the time !

HelloandThankU · 13/02/2026 10:09

A private jet would be amazing—my husband knows how to fly, but we could never afford one on our income. It would let me visit my family much more often.

Two weeks at a health spa. A fortnight of healthy eating, exercise, relaxing, swimming by a pool, massages, pampering and early to bed with a good book.

I can't imagine how good it would feel to leave half a stone lighter, completely relaxed and hopefully looking ten years younger.

Also remember that if you had clean sheets every day, the novelty would wear off very soon and you'd never get to really enjoy that feeling again. So a net negative really, when you add in the environmental angle too.

My most modest one would be funds to have my fence put up, and to have my house finished off! Oh, and someone who could transform Garden 1 into something pretty (currently a clay soil mud pit) and Garden 2 into a proper kitchen garden, where I could grow a lot of my own fruits and vegetables.

If we’re talking big money, though… I would buy a house, because it would be more security than renting. I have a specific house in mind (almost as close to work as my current one, but detached, no direct neighbours and with a bit of land and space for all of my hobbies), but last time it was up for sale, it was £1.5 million…

It would be nice to be a SAHM, but a Welsh-speaking nanny would do, so that my DC could be fluent in Welsh (I’m not, but I’m learning).

I was listening to DID and the lady in Paddington said they used to have a Lady That Did in their home when she was little. When I had young kids I would have wanted one of those. Seems to be a handy cross over for a lady to help cook and clean and with childcare in exchange for free board. I can imagine this might not work these days as men would abuse the system for sex slavery.

Gardener, handyman and a massive generator.

2 of my children and grandchildren live overseas on very long haul flights so if I was rich I’d travel business class twice a year. So that I could lie down properly and go to asleep, avoiding ghastly jet lag which wipes out the first day or two.

A therapist.
Not because I have unresolved issues but it would be really nice to just talk about me to someone who is paid to pretend they're not bored.

AI does a very good job of never getting bored!!

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 13/02/2026 10:56

Mine would be to travel first or at least business class whenever I fly - no more being squished into an economy seat.

The second thing would be to have my hair washed and blow dried 2/3 times a week so I’d always have lovely swishy hair without the faff of doing it myself.

Also, an unlimited class pass to my local pilates studio.

A chef, private jet with crew, and someone who would do all the annoying things like wait on hold for 40min with British Gas etc.

RupertTheBlackCat · 13/02/2026 11:12

A house for my daughter and son-in-law who are currently crammed into the tiniest of flats.

honeylulu · 13/02/2026 11:13

A declutterer/organiser.
I have ADHD and so much of my time is wasted agonising over where to start that I never actually ... start.
Did Marie Kondo method in our old house and kept it up for 2 years, it was so much better for my mental health to have less stuff and all in order. Then we moved to a bigger house and I took my eye off the ball because there was so much more space to store stuff and now it's twice as bad as it ever was!

All of that personal information going back to Musk et al though. Also every time I have used AI it has a different answer depending on how you ask the question. If you ask generally it often doesn't get it right which suggests it does quick scans rather than fully thorough/all aspects considered advice.

I’ve recently retired early and have thoughts of setting up a business that helps with day to day home life. For example renegotiating utilities, insurance, TV subscriptions, broadband etc, shopping for special gifts, for example a friends 50th where you set the budget and what sort of things would be suitable, researching holidays, hotel stays, activities. Like life admin, take the stress away. Find an outfit for a special event etc. How would it work? You pay a subscription for x amounts of requests for help per month. I’ve not given it a lot of thought but is this something that could work?

bluebelle78 · 13/02/2026 11:23

Housekeeper
chauffeur

Like life admin service for families who can afford to outsource it. I think lots of single men would pay for this but some women would feel it is too personal I suspect.

5128gap · 13/02/2026 11:34

First class air travel. So many places I want to go but probably won't because i can't face the faff, discomfort and lack of sleep of travelling economy on flights and at times that fit my budget.

takealettermsjones · 13/02/2026 11:38

Laundry service BUT... I'd pay to install chutes on the outside of my house going to a covered store outside, from which the laundry person would come and pick up all the laundry. They would then bring it back clean, dry, ironed and smelling amazing and they'd come and put it all away properly and put the sheets on the bed as needed.

NB I could pay to outsource my laundry now but I can't cope with the piles/bags/baskets of the stuff everywhere, in various states - dirty stuff, stuff that's ready for the laundry service to pick up, stuff that's just out of the dryer... Piles be gone! Hence the chutes.

Phew I needed that.

Needmorelego · 13/02/2026 11:40

A house and a car (with a driver as I can't drive)

fruitpress100 · 13/02/2026 11:41

A house to live in.

randomchap · 13/02/2026 11:41

Meadowfinch · 13/02/2026 11:45

Replace my last two single glazed windows
Replace the back door
Replace my front fence
Buy a new mobile phone
Buy a running machine

If really wealthy, a current pool in the basement
Recruit a gardener. 😊
