Anonymous valentines card from a woman in my street

I’ve just received an anonymous valentines card from a woman in my street. The card had a stamp on it and it said “The woman within” and my address! The card mentions her seeing me walking to my bus and how she waits for her husband and kids to go out and…well! She says she’s bisexual and she goes into detail about what she wants to do to me…omg!

The card was posted first class, why pay for a stamp lol. Could this be a hoax? It was quite specific about seeing me walking to my bus.

I’m separated from my ex - could it be him or his family playing a prank? Or do I have a randy, bisexual neighbour??

I dunno what to think! 🙈

It's most likely your ex. Not sure why your mind would go to other members of his family before him.

Humdrumqueen · 12/02/2026 07:25

you could rate her / him like theyre on Strictly

0/10 for effort
0/10 for being anonymous
0/10 for being a mature adult
10/10 for wasting money

💃

Edited

Yeah, let's antagonise the man who knows where she lives, watches how she gets to work and has sent her an explicit letter..

Plus read the thread, she has no contact details for him

HelpMeGetThrough · 12/02/2026 08:18

Might just be her, might be her and her husband. They might be sex people and using the female to butter you up...

Literally, judging by the card.

SlinkyMal · 12/02/2026 08:19

It’s your ex. What a sad act.

Nopersbro · 12/02/2026 08:25

I'm sorry this happened to you; it's unacceptable. If the verbiage about what "she" "would like to do to" you is threatening or suggests nonconsensual sexual activity, log it with the police. It's almost certainly someone you know; they'll be getting off on hearing your reactions to this either directly or secondhand (or imagining them). An anonymous stranger on your street wouldn't get the satisfaction, unless it's someone local that you "know" pretending to be a stranger.

Interesting, though, that this correspondent is vocally claiming to be "bisexual", as if the person behind it hasn't twigged that there are actual lesbians. That's oddly common for men with weird "me with two lesbians" fantasies; they really cannot conceptualise that women might have their own agency and desires that have nothing to do with a spare bloke, and that they are completely unnecessary (and unwanted) in that situation.

StephensLass1977 · 12/02/2026 08:32

I have a friend in another country who, for some reason, used to pull pranks like this all the time. I have to say this is EXACTLY the sort of thing she would do. The aim is to confuse, and to get a reaction. For the victim to ask on social media if anyone knows anything. That's exactly what these bullies want. The social media confusion posts is how they get the reaction they're looking for.

At college in the 90s, my so-called friends did this to me. They'd leave notes in my locker from "a guy who admired" me from afar. Another student, but "too shy" to talk to me. I was so excited, having never had a date before. When I found out it was my "friends" all along - they burst into laughter one day after me finding yet another note, and confessed while wetting themselves with laughter - I wanted to kill them. It's so upsetting that someone would go to that sort of effort to trick someone.

The last thing I think this is, is genuine. Just from experience but I could of course be wrong!

HarryMaguireSlabHead · 12/02/2026 08:33

Your ex husband had a psychosexual thing about you being a lesbian and now you've received a sexually graphic anonymous card, obviously written by a man pretending to be a lesbian, and you're not sure who has sent it?

Jane143 · 12/02/2026 08:35

I am the only one curious as to what the sexually explicit comments in the card say?

Moonlightdust · 12/02/2026 08:40

TheReaderIs · 12/02/2026 00:15

Yeah it was explicit. On the front it said “knob of butter” with a butter Willy lol. So weird for a woman to send another woman a card with a willy on it! If it had said - I’ve seen you walking to your bus and I want to say you are very cute/pretty that wouldn’t be so bad but it was graphic!

Yup it’s from a guy winding you up.

Butteredtoast55 · 12/02/2026 08:42

Is there any chance you could show a snippet of the handwriting?
I'm not sure it isn't someone on your street, although it's a really odd thing to do.

Inside it says -
I am a married female admirer of yours who lives in your street and I would love to make love to you.
I see you often walking to your bus and if my husband is at work and the kids are at school, I often lie on my bed (….explicit content)
I want to £&@! you so very much!
? xxx

Starlight7080 · 12/02/2026 08:48

It definitely sounds like a man wrote it. I would bin it and dont mention it to anyone . Whoever sent it probably wants some satisfaction in freaking you out or annoying you.
I would also get a ring door bell if you already dont have one .

DoNotIron · 12/02/2026 08:50

I remember getting a really filthy anonymous Valentine’s card when I was about 16 or 17. It was full of those silly verses people used to write, some of them the usual slightly naughty rhymes and others really very sexually explicit. I was absolutely affronted, partly because it made me uncomfortable and also because I was going through my ‘religious phase’. About a month later, I was sitting in the balcony area of the church I attended. It was in a sort of ‘u’ shape and you could see the people opposite. There was a boy staring at me really intently. I knew him. We often had a bit of banter but he wasn’t even remotely on my radar. I stared back. And he suddenly went a very interesting shade of plum. I just pointed my finger at him and mouthed ‘YOU!’ I never saw anyone leave a place so fast when the service ended. I remain shocked at his dirty mind to this day! Churchgoer that he was😆

Sorry, completely irrelevant and no help whatsoever!

Parsleyforme · 12/02/2026 08:57

I can’t imagine a woman buying that card to send to another woman - why a penis?? Makes no sense! I would be well turned off before I’d even opened it. Sounds like it is from ex/his family if they know you are bi

Sudagame · 12/02/2026 08:58

ChristmasFluff · 12/02/2026 07:10

It's your ex. You already have intuited this, so trust yourself.

Keep it hidden away as evidence as this could eb the start of a stalking campaign. Don't ever mention it to him or his family.

I agree, this will do his head in. If it is him and l also think it will be, he will be waiting to hear about your outrage /worry/upset or any kind of reaction. As will whoever it is whether it be him or a neighbour.

TheBlueKoala · 12/02/2026 09:00

Your ex wants you to go around pestering the female neighbours asking if they sent a v-card to embarrass you.

If this had been real the woman would not have chosen a card with a knob nor would she have expressed herself so crudely without knowing you.

I agree, I'm also here for the explicit comments 😁

EdithBond · 12/02/2026 09:16

Doesn’t sound genuine to me. Can’t imagine a woman sending that to a neighbour. But guess it’s possible. Obviously posted rather than had delivered to protect their identity, in case you or close neighbours have a ring doorbell.

Suggest logging it with the police, so you have a record in case it escalates. It’s sexually explicit and unsolicited. May be some sort of creepy person other than your ex or his family. And, whoever it is, they clearly know where you live.

And keep it (as well as envelope) in a ziplock bag.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 12/02/2026 09:17

I'd bet money on this being a man.
Why would a women wanting to attract another women send that card?

Another poster has already given a reason why a women would send the card. It’s not to attract.

pixieee · 12/02/2026 09:28

Only a man would do that. He sounds like a knob of butter.

OvernightBloats · 12/02/2026 09:29

This card is a prank. Definitely don't interpret it in any other way than the sender has given it to you as a joke.

Could be that the sender wants to wind you up. Laugh it off, tell everyone about this stupid card. Don't take it seriously - the sender might want you to react in this way.

"Knob of butter"

Anyone else getting vibes from the 'wedding bad behaviour' thread where the guest popped his penis into a buttered roll and offered it round?

It was almost certainly not from a woman OP. An interesting mystery though. I would keep it as evidence in case it escalates.

Was just going to post this.....

Surely the OP is having us on?!

Extra info (apologies-I don’t mean to drip feed!)
A few years ago when my husband and I were still together I confided in him saying I did not identify as 100% straight, when we got together he knew I had kissed a few women in the past. He reacted very badly and started listing all these highly graphic sexual stuff saying would you do that? Not in a curious way but in a nasty, intimidating way. He then said he had to text his mother, I begged him to keep it confidential or if he had to just talk to his friends, not his mother. So I’m wondering if it’s her or his family as I’ve since left him?

Yeah, in that case it’s your ex husband who sent the card.

Just bin it.

InconvenientlyMaterial · 12/02/2026 09:35

After your last update, it's definitely your ex.

He's hoping to get you into an embarrassing situation on your street. He'll assume (because you're somewhat bi) that you're automatically really into the idea of a woman on your street fancying you and that you'll approach some of the married mothers with kids.
