Dubai single mum

Hi, posting on behalf of my daughter who is just starting court proceedings to relocate to Dubai with her daughter as dad not give permission. Just seeing if there are other mums going through or have gone through this for advice and support on how to get a good outcome on a caffcass 7 report done. X

I can’t imagine that they’re at all friendly to single mums tbh 😬😬

That was actually my first thought too.

GaspherYaw · 10/02/2026 20:28

For a single mum cost of school care and child care will be a lot. It's not free like it is here.

GoAwayNaughtyPigeon · 10/02/2026 20:29

Absolutely delusional to support your DD in doing this. My mum applied to take me away abroad from my dad and all my family in the 90s (unfortunately she was able to do so, courts thankfully different now and don't usually grant permission). Single worst thing to ever happen to me in my life, it had multiple numerous ongoing ramifications for me. Still does tbh.

Separately, my cousins were taken by their parents (not divorced) to live in Dubai as teens. They hated it so fking much they went back home to live with their grandparents instead 🙄

Also, I’ve got a feeling that you can’t legally leave a child home alone until they are sixteen or something along those lines. So here a thirteen year old would be able make their own way from school and make a sandwich and crack on with their homework for a couple of hours but you can’t in Dubai.

Wabbajack · 10/02/2026 20:39

Is this a reverse?

It's under 15 in Dubai. I just checked

purpleme12 · 10/02/2026 20:43

I'm not sure if this post is genuine or not

It gives the impression that you want your daughter to relocate removing the child from her dad?

Which is not right.

Unless you're going to come out with a 'drip feed' about the dad to support your viewpoint....

Well, because the cost of living in the UK is crippling? Because of the complete breakdown of law and order here, contrasted to the much safer day-to-day life in the UAE? The positive impact of better weather? To name a few...

That seems a pretty cheap price for giving up of women’s rights and human rights, I will be honest.

FasterMichelin · 10/02/2026 20:48

What relationship does the child have with her dad currently?

ClairDeLaLune · 10/02/2026 20:54

Nopenott0day · 10/02/2026 19:28

Why on earth would she go to a place with awful womens rights.

and built by slaves 😢

Charlize43 · 10/02/2026 21:09

After reading about Maria Kovalchuk, who had her limbs and spine broken (as well as being scalped) while visiting Dubai, I'd have serious reservations about anyone going there, especially for a single woman and a child.

Also isn't Dubai that place that prozzies and influencers go to be crapped on for money? Portable potty parties, they are called.

Katie Price has just flown out there to be with her new conman husband.

It sounds like a total cesspit.

I'd be interested to understand why you think that and what part of the UK you live in?

Yes the cost of living is high bit so it's most of the world and if it isn't it's usually propped up by a large number of very poor or in some cases slaves like Dubai.

As for a breakdown in law & order that is a load of rubbish overall crime has reduced by 90% in the last 30 years, that includes violence, burglary and car theft (fraud had gone up thanks to the digital age).

Crime in England and Wales - Office for National Statistics

Problem is that social media and some news outlets lie and then the lies spread, Russia, China and now the USA are making these post and spreading these lies to further their own agenda.
This site is interesting for looking up information.

They really aren’t keen on single mothers, especially if not married/divorced. She risks getting stoned!!!

Oh yes the complete breakdown of law and order here. Where on earth do you live?

People who go to Dubai are ghastly.

HisNibs · 10/02/2026 21:34

As other pp have rightly mentioned, your DD will need to ensure adequate supervision whilst working or risk imprisonment up to 2 years (look up Wadeema's Law)
In the unlikely event that a UK Court allows DD to take her children there, she will need to sponsor her child for a family visa with a whole heap of hoops to jump through and those court documents granting sole custody and permission to travel need to be translated and submitted too.
Culturally, DD (and probably DGD) is unlikely to be accepted outside of an expat community.
What grounds of being in the child's best interest are you presenting to CAFCASS for a section 7 report?
Why on earth would she want to go there In the first place? Listen to other pp

I went to Dubai over Christmas and loved it.

Stayed with family there who have been working for 20+ years there. Both the wife and the husband have thrived career wise and they have lovely DC who are doing well as well.

Dubai has its issues. But the UAE banned stoning years ago, and being a single mother isn't a capital offense.

Adelle79360 · 10/02/2026 21:35

So much misinformation on this thread about Dubai and about court proceedings for relocation. Clearly it isn’t in a child’s best interests to be left with a parent who isn’t their primary carer (assuming that is the case here), it’s in their best interest to relocate with the parent who is moving.

Your daughter needs to really do her homework. Where will her daughter go to school, how is it being paid for? What about medical care, presumably she will be covered by your daughter’s insurance? Does the child do any extra curricular activities and if so, can she continue to do those? (Of course she can - it’s Dubai!). Do they know anybody out there for friendship and support? Make a list of all these things to tell Cafcass. On the assumption the child and her dad have a relationship, how will that be managed moving forwards? How many times a year can she come back here to visit him, can he come and visit in Dubai? How will the travel be paid for and who will accompany her on the flights? It all needs to be set out really clearly. She needs a plan.

The complete breakdown of law and order?! Hardly. You've been watching too much shite on the Internet.

GaspherYaw · 10/02/2026 21:36

I'd support a couple moving together to Dubai to work there, have a career and raise a family.

I cannot in good conscience ever support taking the child away from the any parent to live in a completely different continent.

It is a cesspit. But I like the way it extracts the worst of humanity away from the UK. The problem is that they will all be back soon.

OP, I would be very worried about your daughter going there as a single mother.

Autumngirl5 · 10/02/2026 21:43

It seems to be the trendy place to move to 🙄.

Pinkissmart · 10/02/2026 21:45

It’s shitty to take a kid away from a parent, unless abuse is involved

Holdonforsummer · 10/02/2026 21:47

They gave up stoning people a while back? That's fine then!

Aluna · 10/02/2026 21:48

Ooooh that’s ok then.

Fare evasion in the UK is rife. So is shoplifting and store looting. When I was in Dubai I didn't see a single security guard (or need of one) in the stores there.

But that's beside the point, she can't take the DC away from the dad.
