To hate most men?

I'm not speaking about the whole male population, of course, but they're so pig ignorant. Sexist, bullish with disgusting habits. I'm currently sat in a cafe and a man, looks to be in his 60's is doing that deep throaty sniff in and sneezed so loud, I almost choked on my fish. Then there are the men who spit in public. Earlier I endured a man constantly sniffing on the train for half an hour. Women are like this too, but men are far worse. Enduring these men is a daily occurrence.

Yanbu. Publically they act appallingly. Spitting and hawking, man spreading, ignorant walking, angry aggressive driving, leering, pissing in the street, and on and on and on. Privately (we but need to read thread where and glance at the Epstein files) it seems they are often even worse. The best men are just mediocre women imo. When we judge a good man he is- kind, clean, funny, has a job, is thoughtful, good with his kids etc- ALL of my female friends meet this kind of criteria with ease and most exceed it.

Imagine saying this about literally any other group. Even with the mandatory "I'm not talking about all...." (try women/black people/ gay people, etc), then you will realise how utterly vile and bigoted you sound. Yes, YABU and demented to hate 'all men' and to gripe so casually about it on MN as though you expect praise for this viewpoint. Which you will get, of course, because that's the culture we live in.

What other group are responsible for 98% of sex crimes?

Carlie97 · 10/02/2026 17:44

That is DISGUSTING!!! Honestly, my (male) pets have more decorum. They're quite classy actually.

I remembered another thing a shit load of men do. Eat with their mouths open and make horrendous noises.

This made me 😂

JohnTheRevelator · 10/02/2026 22:23

And what is with men and explosive sneezing? So many times I've been made to jump out of my skin on the bus or in a coffee shop because of some bloke sneezing at 110 decibels. When I, and the vast majority of women I know sneeze it barely registers on the decibel scale!

CrikeyNumpty · 10/02/2026 22:25

This…
Margaret Atwood’s famous, witty quote regarding menopause is: “Menopause. A pause while you reconsider men”. This line, which appears in her work Wilderness Tips, acts as a clever wordplay, framing the transition as a moment for women to reassess their lives, relationships, and societal roles.

This is why our eyes open in our 50s.

Alittlefrustrated · 10/02/2026 21:48

So very very true. It's took 'til my 50's for this realisation to fully develop.

Eh, something literally clicked when I turned 42 and that's it. I can never get back to previous mindset (about men and other stuff).

YABVVU. You don't know most men. Don't hate an unknown sector of society. That's what racists and misogynists do. They think refugees stole our jobs and women are all after one thing: a man's wallet, so we can lounge around. It's nonsense. Just as it is nonsense to assume all men are seedy and abusive. The ones who are become newsworthy. But there are many men out there quietly getting on with life, kind to their kids, their partners, their neighbours and friends, contributing in the community, paying their taxes, mowing their lawns etc.

On balance, I know more good men than bad.

Thank you very much for this. Says it all

I'm sorry but what

Feeling your thighs?? Looking for his bag?!

Yep. It's gross right. 🤢🤢

Dilly22 · 10/02/2026 22:31

I don’t think I hate most men, I hate the culture of men being taught that it’s acceptable to behave poorly. The bar is set lower for men on appearance, hygiene, behaviour towards others etc.

HRTQueen · 10/02/2026 22:33

Watching the news Trump, Epstein files. reports of male violence and abuse of children, seeing men talk over women (as so often happens) when discussing Epstein files

this has all been in the news in the last few days and just reinforces my opinion that few men are decent

and yes well aware one woman, was very much involved with Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell but it’s only one person in prison when many many men should be

LondonLady1980 · 10/02/2026 22:38

I have a husband who I love, but if I was ever to find myself single in my future I cannot imagine for the life of me ever wanting to go out dating again or find another man to be with. On the whole, they are are pretty grim with so many dirty and disgusting habits. And usually really, really messy and lazy too. No thank you.

Egggingit · 10/02/2026 22:40

Vinvertebrate · 10/02/2026 20:21

Good for you, but if you’re under about 45-ish, I’d give it a few years. My theory - at age 50 - is that only hormonal influence makes men tolerable, for obvious reproductive reasons. Once that precious estrogen starts pooping out, you realise that your adored DH is actually just some massively irritating gobshite who lives in your house, scratches his balls all the time and fucking breathes too loud.

Or even just breathes….😂

The sexism and misogyny is always, always there. Not too far beneath the surface.

Stompythedinosaur · 10/02/2026 22:58

I agree!

It's not every man.

But it's almost every man!

Moonlightdust · 10/02/2026 23:03

In my 40s and been married 20 years (I deserve a medal!) but when I see so many women my age separate from their DH, it always baffles me how quickly they move onto a new man. Most of them (in my view) are no oil painting/have no captivating qualities. I kind of understand the not wanting to be lonely for the rest of your life/holding out for that ‘soul mate’ but quite honestly, I’d much prefer my own company and not put up with a grumpy old fart with revolting bad habits…

Yolo12345 · 10/02/2026 23:04

The most disappointing thing in my life has been my relationships with men and I include my brother and father in that.

I personally have to agree. Most men in my life have let me down one way or another.

YANBU

They are mostly gross

Yet the misandry on the thread is loud and proud!

The irony 🤣🤣🤣

IcebergRightAhead · 10/02/2026 23:22

I think there are plenty of reasons to dislike men but when you’re complaining about them sneezing and coughing and “just being there” in public, you’re starting to scrape the barrel.

I was in the supermarket earlier tonight and there were three women there together in their pyjamas and dressing gowns, unwashed hair tied up. I actually think some of the women I see in public disgust me more than some of the men, but maybe that’s just in my area of the country.

The OP is complaining about them sniffing but then another poster is complaining about them blowing their nose.

Bertiebiscuit · 10/02/2026 23:26

Unlike misogyny, "misandry" doesn't get men killed. No comparison.

A good proportion of those “good men” are leering at their neighbours’ teenage daughters while they mow the lawn, or watching exploitative porn while their wives are asleep, or making a young female employee uncomfortable because they can. Some of them just hide it better than others. And women get better at detecting it as they get older. If most women knew what most men were thinking, they’d rather live with a rattlesnake.

VivienneDelacroix · 10/02/2026 23:30

I agree. I abhor men as a whole. Reminds me of that Mary Poppins line "though we adore men individually, as a group we agree they're rather stupid". Although I'd change "stupid" to "repulsive".

Actually, I'm really only referring to straight men.
