To hate most men?

I'm not speaking about the whole male population, of course, but they're so pig ignorant. Sexist, bullish with disgusting habits. I'm currently sat in a cafe and a man, looks to be in his 60's is doing that deep throaty sniff in and sneezed so loud, I almost choked on my fish. Then there are the men who spit in public. Earlier I endured a man constantly sniffing on the train for half an hour. Women are like this too, but men are far worse. Enduring these men is a daily occurrence.

It's not often I say it as normally no need ,I'm male and what you've described also makes my stomach flip.
I've told men hacking ,spitting etc to fucking pack it in.

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 10/02/2026 19:46

And somewhere on another forum men are insulting women in a similar style. Not all men/ women are disgusting

Terip · 10/02/2026 19:48

Yep, a lot of men are vile - boorish, boring, pompous, fatuous, rude, entitled, with fragile egos, and disgusting habits.

Likewise, a lot of women are absolutely shite. I mean total drainers, who contribute nothing to the party - total energy vampires, nothing interesting to say about anything, do nothing of note or interest. Just exist.

Some people are just rubbish. In fact most people are. I’m probably a bit rubbish. Very few people are good looking, charismatic, interesting, of either sex.

That is DISGUSTING!!! Honestly, my (male) pets have more decorum. They're quite classy actually.

I remembered another thing a shit load of men do. Eat with their mouths open and make horrendous noises.

Yes this! My DH does this.. he makes disgusting eating noises and I just stare at him but it makes me want to throw my dinner at him 😆

YANBU. They’re absolutely vile. Yesterday I was walking to the shop and the bloke in front of me was morbidly obese and wearing jeans that had ripped across the arse - completely, not just a small hole - exposing his boxer shorts and crack. It was utterly disgusting, he clearly just didn’t give a shit.

Was in the supermarket on Sunday and a man at the self-checkouts had his whole bum out of his manky jeans. Nearly all of it, he couldn’t have not known. I’m sick of them too.

BillieWiper · 10/02/2026 20:11

An elderly man I just met felt up both my upper thighs in a taxi, I said 'oi, stop touching me up!?' and he pretending he was 'looking for his bag'. His wife was sitting behind us. This was only a couple of days ago. Utterly grim.

Less bad but still grim is my male friend who always has a smokers cough but never even attempts to cover his mouth when he does it. Even when I tell him to. He gave me such a foul 'cold' last winter Xmas was basically cancelled and I had sinus infections for 6 months.

So yeah, some aspects of them and some specimens of them are pretty fucking awful. But not all. Some are pretty good. Great even. But nobody is perfect. Man or woman.

Upstartled · 10/02/2026 17:39

Same. I've had the good fortune to have mostly known lovely men. Sniffing on the train wouldn't hit my threshold for annoyance though so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Good for you, but if you’re under about 45-ish, I’d give it a few years. My theory - at age 50 - is that only hormonal influence makes men tolerable, for obvious reproductive reasons. Once that precious estrogen starts pooping out, you realise that your adored DH is actually just some massively irritating gobshite who lives in your house, scratches his balls all the time and fucking breathes too loud.

ImPamDoove · 10/02/2026 20:24

I was in a queue in Waterstones yesterday and the man in front of me was repeatedly blowing his nose like a TRUMPET into a <shudder> handkerchief.

I’ll admit I fantasised about shooting him, and I also thought women simply never do this.

Probably get flamed for saying it, but hard agree. So so few decent sorts of men out there. I worry for the boys growing up now with the awful stuff online etc and what sort of men it shapes them to be. Surely it can only get worse!

I'm sorry but what

Feeling your thighs?? Looking for his bag?!

Yanbu
They are literally a different species.
I have many that are decent lovely people but they still don’t truly get why.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 10/02/2026 18:24

Absolutely

I was on the train with my 8 year old daughter at the weekend. A group of 4 men (all looked to be in their 60’s) sat at the table next to us and 3 of them started talking about their sexual conquests on their lads holidays in previous years. How “fuckable” various women they know are. Luckily, because we were on a long trip (3hours) I’d packed her YOTO box and headphones to listen to stories. I told her she had to keep them on. Every time she lifted an ear to ask me a question, one of the men tried to engage her in conversation. Luckily she didn’t realise he was speaking to her.

The men got off after about 45 minutes. One of the men ( he had remained almost completely silent for the entire train ride) leaned over to apologise for his friends, saying he’d noticed that I tried to move seats (the train was packed) and that I’d kept telling my daughter to replace her earphones. I think he wanted me to know and be so, so grateful that “he was a good guy” but I said “it would have been much more helpful for you to ask your friends to stop speaking like that in public places in front of children than apologising to me after 45 minutes of it”

Edited

This is disgusting, exposing children to sexual activity. I like to think that’s how I’d approach them about it and that I’d call the police, but can’t say for sure what I’d really do in a real life situation.

LondonLass61 · 10/02/2026 21:26

YANBU.
The 60’s/70’s/80’s had some truly horrible male behaviour that was mainly overlooked. Although I’m glad that (some) bad male behaviour is now more publicised, it’s been a depressing few years with Epstein, the Orange One, men drugging their wives, rapist police officers etc etc.
I’m older now (entering my wise witch phase obvs) and I think that the next evolution of humans should involve women running everything - they do most of it now, but it should actually be recognised and encouraged.

LondonLass61 · 10/02/2026 21:28

DeLaLune2022 · 10/02/2026 19:37

Yanbu. The older I get the more I realize that women are the superior species. And that men all over the world therefore try everything to keep us down.

This is so true.

There are only two people I hate in this world. Both men, who I hate because of the way they abused me when I was younger.

But I can honestly say that the only men I like are my Grandsons.

The rest, particularly men of my generation, are typically controlling, arrogant, entitled, selfish, boring specimens with disgusting attitudes and habits they feel determined to inflict on women.

I can’t imagine wanting to live with any man like that and am delighted that I am independent and will never need too.

I watch my friends now, single unmarried women living fabulous lives, contrasting with those that are married and now staring into the abyss of having to care for their ‘manchild’ into old age.

I just feel sorry for women of my Mother’s generation who had no choice. I watched my Mum being beaten, sexually assaulted, deprived of money and basically treated like s..t. With no hope of escape. There was nothing I could do as a child to change that but I thank her for how wary she made me around men and how determined I have always been to provide for myself.

Playingvideogames · 10/02/2026 21:41

They’re also very petty and thin skinned. The bloke opposite walks his DS to the same school as I walk DD. He is a really slow walker, not usually a problem getting stuck behind him (it’s a long walk down a narrow pavement next to a main road) but one time we were in a rush so I said ‘excuse me’ and edged past him.

Ever since that day (I’m not joking or imagining it!) whenever I happen to be walking in front of him he will virtually sprint to get ahead of me, and look back to make sure I’ve seen. He even ran out into the road to get ahead of me before I reached a crossing and almost got run over. He was clearly so offended I dared to walk faster than him that now he has to prove it is he who in fact walks faster than me, every single time.

So very very true. It's took 'til my 50's for this realisation to fully develop.

I do this and I’m a woman. Sorry - allergies etc.

I’ve just come back from a late evening swim at the leisure centre. Two women in the next lane were complaining that they couldn’t get in the sauna because of all the letchy old men in there. One had white football shorts and nothing underneath 🤮

Designless · 10/02/2026 21:56

I'd rather be stuck in a lift with a randomly assorted man than op who sounds wretched

Imagine saying this about literally any other group. Even with the mandatory "I'm not talking about all...." (try women/black people/ gay people, etc), then you will realise how utterly vile and bigoted you sound. Yes, YABU and demented to hate 'all men' and to gripe so casually about it on MN as though you expect praise for this viewpoint. Which you will get, of course, because that's the culture we live in.

Screamingabdabz · 10/02/2026 22:06

The men in our family are lovely. No machismo, totally equal as parents, see domestic work as just part of the daily grind (not women’s work per se), supportive, emotionally intelligent etc But this makes me vote YANBU because when you look around and see what utter twats other men are you just have no patience for it. Or women who enable it I’m afraid.

Luckyingame · 10/02/2026 22:09

Agree 👍 💯 %

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 10/02/2026 22:13

my husband manages 50 men in a factory environment. Every week is a disgusting montage of horrific stories. Shit/snot/vomit/semen smeared up walls, wanking, discussing racist/misanthropic talk on workshop floor it is non stop. My husband hates men as a class and is surprised by nothing. He's ok. Just.

Its exhausting when you reach 50 and it's 2026 and everything is worse not better.
