Attended one yesterday as a bridesmaid. The brides cousin was also a bridesmaid, spent the whole morning clearly aggrieved that the day wasn't about her... smoked in the getting ready suite and had to be told to put it out, then lit up again and claimed she had forgotten when the bride told her and made a snarky comment..then presented her silver converse she had customised to wear with her dress as she "doesn't really do heels"... the bride ignored her and sweetly said "at this point I don't think I can stop you" as she knows what she's like then what do you know, she wears the heels! There were loads of instances like this all day and she is 28 but seemed to want to just be am inconvenience all day which I assume was jealousy...even little things like being late for photos and pretending not to hear when called over, pushing the food round her plate, really ungracious behaviour. The wedding was fantastic! She could have really enjoyed it much more. Not really an aibu but whats the worst behaviour youve seen like this?

Best Man sexually assaulted multiple people including the wives of two of the grooms brothers. It was awful.

DoubleShotEspresso · 08/02/2026 23:51

A very well known (BBC type) guest spat at the venue manager who asked him to extinguish his cigar. (Very notable/landmark type of venue). Then followed with a sea of expletives, telling said venue manager they would have no job in the morning, as the world’s best security escorted him downstairs and left him on the floor, external to the site.
Venue manager was a much younger me. I remained there for a further two and a half years & received the biggest box of chocolates I had ever seen from Fortnum’s with a huge bunch of flowers from the happy couple on the Monday morning. Turned out they barely knew this guest but had caved under pressure from the father of the Groom.
Still chuckle to myself when I see this guest on tv behaving as if butter wouldn’t melt 😂

Friend of the groom whipped his penis out, put it in a bread roll, buttered it and went round the tables offering it to old ladies.

Did anyone ask him ‘Do you need a beaker for that?’

momtoboys · 08/02/2026 23:52

I have posted this story before and people doubt that it actually happened.

I was at a daytime wedding at a club on a body of water. A LOT of drinking. The people who went out to smoke saw one of the bridesmaids having sex with a man who was not her husband, on the dock not too far from the building. Of course, those people came inside and told others who then ran outside to see if it was true! by the time they realized people were watching, there was a large, cheering crowd!

MOB and her friends plus several aunties grabbed the bride by the shoulders and feet towards the end of the night to ‘give her the bumps.’ Bride literally pleaded to be let go which they did, groom took her hand and they smiled and waved goodbye to an appalled roomful of guests, then fled (bride utterly mortified and sobbing).

Worst was when I was in my early 20s (around 1990), at an evening reception as a plus one. Bit of a biker crowd. Everyone pissed, groom and a family member got into a fight, police called. Groom was arrested, bride tried to physically intervene to stop groom being taken away, bride arrested for assaulting a police officer. Bride and Groom spent night in separate cells.

Another, a family members wedding when the best man thought funny to dye his hair a bright neon colour (with a dark beard) without warning, just showed up with it on the day.

Groom wanted his twin sister as Best Woman. Bride and MOB said that would be weird. Groom was insistent. Then bride, without asking groom asked the sister to be a bridesmaid so groom thought it was a decent compromise and went with it.

The sister was told the girls were buying their own dresses, and doing their own hair and make up, which she was fine with. She arrived the morning of the wedding to discover the other two bridesmaids had been and had their hair and makeup done (she had asked several times the plans and had been told they were 100% doing their own). The other two bridesmaids also had matching shoes and matching jewellery.

When the bridesmaids arrived at the church groom instantly noticed the jewellery, but his sister told him not to worry about it.

At the photos he overheard the other two bridesmaids talking about the three of them getting their hair and make up done and realised they meant them and the bride. He and the bride had a massive blow up, came out at that point that they had budgeted for the three dresses and shoes but his sister's budget had paid for the other girls hair and make up.

The bride was in tears most of the reception. In the groom's speech he was reading like he was reading a menu, apart from the bit when he thanked his mum and sister for their support.

A load of other things came out after the wedding - his mum had paid for all of the flowers yet she wasn't given a corsage despite the MOB, MOB's three sisters and the mothers of the other two bridesmaids being given one. His other sister (much older than him) had given them £5k toward their wedding and she was sat on a table with her SIL's workmates due to "awkward numbers on the family tables" and since she was single (she was widowed) it was easier to shift her.

The couple split up within days of the wedding.

Emotionalsupporttissue · 09/02/2026 00:09

I went to a colleague's wedding. At the reception, she (the bride) proceeded to rip open the presents, chucking them over her shoulder complaining that they were shit , cheap or they already had one . The poor groom tried to stop her but she was having none of it.

Stephen Fry? I always knew he was a prick.

Not Stephen Fry, no.

This guest equally eloquent & knowledgeable in his own specialist subject.

A work colleague invited 2 of our other colleagues to her very classy wedding.
On the Monday I asked one colleague how was the wedding.
Apparently other work colleague drank too much before the reception and when the main course arrived she vomited over her plate putting all other guests at her table off their meal.
Bride was furious.

Oh my word I need to know if the bride addressed it at work, I’d have been mortified!!!

Cornonthecob17 · 09/02/2026 00:19

The bride’s alcoholic aunt getting absolutely wasted before dinner began and standing up during bride’s sister’s MOH speech to announce she was a whore. Had to be carried out one limb each by family members and put into a taxi.

My mum made my sister late for her own wedding. Claimed she had got lost. My sister’s wedding was at a venue in my mums city of birth, my mum must have driven to this place hundreds of times over the years. It was deliberate. Mum also made my youngest sister wear heels despite her having never worn them before and youngest sister promptly face planted as she was walking down the aisle ahead of the bride.

Queenoftartts · 09/02/2026 00:20

Woman picked something up off the buffet took a bite pulled a face at us to indicate she didn't like it then put it back on the tray.😮🤢🤮 There was a few children there mine included and non of them did anything like that.

Cornonthecob17 · 09/02/2026 00:20

Oh and I didn’t witness this one but I know that someone I know shagged her second husband in the toilets at her first wedding.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 09/02/2026 00:20

Reluctant, shotgun wedding. The groom shagged his girlfriend in the toilets at the reception.

Father of the groom punched father of the bride in the face on the dancefloor. Blood everywhere.

Same wedding! No, the marriage did not last, but the toilet shaggers are still together decades later.

eventhekitchensink · 09/02/2026 00:27

My MIL, who I'd previously gotten on very well with, spent the entire day with a face like a slapped arse and cried at regular intervals. In the photos she looks like she's at a funeral, not a wedding. Not a single smile. She insisted DH go and spend an hour in her room consoling her because she was so upset to be "losing" him. My parents paid for the whole thing and my PIL barely even spoke to them. The morning after they insisted on us joining them in a room away from all the other guests for coffee where we basically sat in awkward silence. All of it was so rude and although I've tried to work on forgiving them, I'll never forget it.

Went to ( close ) friend's wedding alone after getting divorced and sitting at one of the reception tables with a load of people I didnt know

ALL AT THE SAME WEDDING:-

  1. Man opposite asked me about myself and who i was and when i said i'd come alone and during part of the conversation said i was recently divorced he immediately jumped to the conclusion i was chatting him up ( I wasnt) and told me his wife was sitting at the end of the table and was 7 months pregnant. It was so unnecessary and.so patronising and humiliating. I had no interest in him whatsoever. It was so obvious he'd said it as a way of warning me off even though I had shown absolutely zero interest in him. I couldnt believe how arrogant and self- important he was.
  2. The people next to me on the same table were bitching about the bride and smirking at the groom's speech and .saying her sister ( a bridesmaid) was " obviously AC/DC" ..She wasnt and it was just insulting to use those terms anyway.
  3. I went to the loo and bumped into another friend of the bride that id met at their uni years before. She said hello, was really friendly( she was a really nice woman ) and asked innocently and genuinely why i hadnt been at the hen night. I didnt know there had been a hen night . My friend hadnt mentioned it. !!!
  4. A gorgeous Scottish guy came up to me and started chatting. He was charming and normally I would have chatted back but because of the general tone of everything that had happened I justt thought ' sod this' I'm not standing here being chatted up by the most attractive bloke in the room just so that everyone can start bitching. So I just smiled and walked off. He must have thought i was the rudest guest at the wedding.
Never been so glad to get home.
Willowywisp · 09/02/2026 00:30

The groom gave the most bizarre speech that was entirely to the best man and all about their trips away together (was very Brokeback Mountain). He forget to mention his bride at all or even address her parents, who had flown from the other side of the world to watch their only daughter marry this older creep. After the wedding the best man refused to ever talk to the groom again and didn't give them a wedding present. A lover scorned, quite clearly! Her husband is very obviously gay (nobody would ever assume he was straight) but she is clueless. The ceremony in the church was so uncomfortable as the priest kept reading passages that were very "woman, you must obey your man" type thing. I have never been so close to shouting out "don't do it! Run!".
