Do you think she did it ? Watched the documentary and I’m not sure she should have been convicted

So if you were being investigated for murder and the police wanted to work out if you could print records at home and questioned you about your printer would you be as blase?

I would bet my life not

You might do if you were innocent, but still really worried about getting into trouble for not shredding documents - especially if asked years later and out of the blue

It wasn’t out of the blue - she was being interviewed for murder

I have no idea how I would be - I would hope I would be clear and precise and explain that I should have said I dont have a printer than works. But after working with trauma survivors over many years, I know that people act in inexplicable ways when upset, stressed and shocked and often struggle to explain themselves fully. What they did and how it differed from how they previously assumed they would act is often the most difficult thing for people to reconcile to after a trauma event.

To look at people in those situations and assume what people should do is dangerous because it invites judgement which is not fair or accurate. It's possible it was a lie as you seem to want to maintain. It is also possible that it was an oversight or mis-statement on her part like the one I explained in my post.

We are not talking about the whole situation - just one of the lies that was definitely odd and has stood out

Could have been a lie, could have been confusion, could have been forgetfulness
I certainly wouldn't call it "one of the lies", because even if this was one, I can't think of any others

staceyflack · 11/02/2026 21:00

@Catpuss66 I refer you to my first response on this thread, where I said, we've all done it (accidentally taken sheets home). What ive certainly never done is store multiple sheets in chronological order, in my bedroom despite not being a Saint. Have you?

But we are. If I was relaxed and happy and asked about my statement that I dont have a printer, I would be much more likely to be clear and precise in my answer. The more stressed I was the less likely I would be to remember things clearly or be able to explain things because that is how stress affects the brain. Lying causes stress. But so does not being believed when you are innocent and thinking you might get blamed for something you did not do.

When you compare with the court records, it seems she had only five in that box that netflix said was where they were stashed in chronological order. So I wouldn't read too much into that. It would happen if you just put them in as you brought them home

Can't really count that as proof she killed babies, because if she didn't kill them, she wasn't lying!

It’s been pointed out numerous times on this thread that there weren’t multiple sheets stored in chronological order. This was never mentioned before the Netflix show and if you go back to the trial reports there were 5 sheets in the box, unrelated to the babies she was accused of harming, and the rest were in carrier bags/ bin bags. You can keep repeating she shouldn’t have had them until you’re blue in the face but it still doesn’t support murder.

paranoidnamechanger · 11/02/2026 21:17

Well, it wouldn’t have been the first time she lied / likely lied. Apparently, the 33 year old that she was three years ago didn’t know what the term ‘go commando’ meant. She also said that while she was doing her admin role, she was cut off from her nursing colleagues, but the prosecution proved otherwise. When the married doctor appeared in court to testify against her, she later said she tried to leave the court in tears because she was “unwell”. By the way, this man, who she’d probably been sleeping with, said at the Thirlwell inquiry she “misled and maybe manipulated” him.

And as for the shredder she lied about having, she was using it to shred bank statements.

Then why on earth was she being asked about a shredder? It has no relevance

Didn’t they ask her why she didn’t get rid of the papers? And she said she didn’t have a shredder.

I am bemused by how people keep repeating statements like murder and liar when there is significant reason to doubt those are true. But hey ho, thats life on a forum like this. Hopefully the authorities will show more critical reasoning skills.

I didn't know what going commando meant until I was well into adulthood. What would be the point in her lying about that?

At the Thirlwall Inquiry, it was confirmed that she was indeed advised not to talk to colleagues about her situation at work.

Why are we to assume she was lying when she said she was unwell? She's known to have been travel sick daily, not able to eat breakfast and heavily medicated in court. I doubt it would take much to tip her over the edge into feeling pretty unwell.

Yes, the older, more senior married man who shared confidential information with her of his own volition did indeed say that she had misled and maybe manipulated him. A bit pathetic trying to evade his own responsibility like this, but this was based on the assumption that she was a murderer.

There's no claim from the prosecution or evidence that they slept together.

Neither did she unless you know a miraculous way of keeping them in order in a plastic bag. Not sure I would know, not knowingly anyway.

Because you would rather believe a married doctor.( they never lie)
She said she had no sexual relationship with him. Imagine of your close friend at work put the boot in while so being accused of something so heinous. She must of felt so sad.
he did a deal to be anonymous in return to shaft her.
show me the source of your bank statements comment & don’t say the mail the Sun or any other tabloid……anyway what does it matter. Or is everyone with a shredder a serial killer.
the commando comment pretty unprofessional comment to make in a murder enquiry whatever the context.
