Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

I find men on Mumsnet generally as tiresome as they are in life.

I wish I could give this an award and my unpopular opinion is that men should be banned from mumsnet, even the lipsticked ones.

No! I love nuts. As a vegetarian they are a great food resource. People ate them gladly in the past. Perhaps food allergies need looking at in a different way. Thinking about children and peanut allergies has already changed in the last few years. And I will say it is not a human right to eat out. The cost to everyone else for labelling this that and everything is too much.

Not a human right, but it is the main way people get together and celebrate things. Why should my DD miss out on that? So because she was born with an allergy that's not her fault, you think she should miss out on parties, weddings, work nights out etc? Of course everything needs to be labelled.

If you’ve lived a completely normal life including job, relationships, children, independence, etc, you are not autistic and shouldn’t be clogging up the waiting list just for validation.

You’re making it harder for people with real autism to get support and services. Selfish selfish selfish.

Masking doesn’t exist. If you can choose to look non-autistic then you’re not autistic.

Most people with late diagnosed autism actually have a personality disorder.

These are my opinions based on my experience as someone diagnosed back when you actually had to have symptoms.

Couldn't disagree with this more. That's based on my experience as someone who's ability to mask was absolutely destroyed by a life event. Masking didn't actually disguise anything, it was a social coping mechanism. I don't have any personality disorder.

Dry robes look bloody ridiculous on anyone who hasn't just immersed themselves in cold water.

Reallyneedsaholiday · 07/02/2026 10:27

Men should have a "one off" choice about whether they want to be a father, after their sexual partner finds out about a pregnancy. If they're "in" ie choose to be a father, then thats a commitment for financial support, at the very least, for the next 18 years. But if they are not, then they have the choice to walk away, completely, with no responsibility at all.
Women have the choice to terminate a pregnancy, to keep their baby, or to put it up for adoption. At least "my" way, they have an informed choice, about whether they will be "doing it" alone, from the offset.

I know all the arguments, that if a man doesn't want to be a father, then he should just "keep it in his pants" but that reasoning never seems to apply to the woman; and I find it a complete double standard.

Would you mind sharing more info? I suspect my DSD has this (mother died of alcoholism). I didn't think it always had visible, physical traits...

Sorry, derailing slightly.

My opinion:

People who keep XL bullies in a house with kids deserve a call from social services. Those dogs should be banned from all homes with children under 18.

Those dogs should be banned from all homes with children under 18.

Also, they should be shot.

Very true. Don't folk realise they look like they're walking around in their dressing gowns?

So you have never met a transwoman and not known they were a transwoman?

Anticipating response: "Oh no I've clocked them straight away"

I'm going to repeat this (as I'd love to hear anyone try and counter it, you won't), it's delusional to think transwomen are not passable or attractive to straight men. The fact is many transwomen are told to be honest about their status before they become intimate with men; if they were not passable or able to attract straight men then having to be honest (or come clean) wouldn't be a thing, their status would be known, but obviously that is not the case.

I wouldn’t know would I if they genuinely passed.

I’ve seen people I suspect are trans women at both ends of the scale from the hyper sexual version to the just a person getting on with their job with painted nails and long hair types.

But a man is a man biologically and wanting to date and sleep with them is gay/bi. Dress them or yourself up however you want but just own it don’t be ashamed of it.

NorthXNorthWest · 07/02/2026 10:30

GD88 · 07/02/2026 10:04

You are basically saying a huge percentage of men are gay (given trans is the second most viewed category), we are talking 30% plus here. That simply doesn't compute.

I have no hang ups about labels at all so say what you like. I know I'm straight and only mention it for the purpose of recognising that transwomen (again, passable transwomen) are appealing to straight males. It's delusional to think they are not passable or attractive to straight men. The fact is many transwomen are told to be honest about their status before they become intimate with men; if they were not passable or able to attract straight men then having to be honest (or come clean) wouldn't be a thing, their status would be known, but obviously that is not the case.

  1. % of gay men - I suspect men's prisons have some useful stats on 'straight men'.
  1. You have no hang ups about labels but state you are 'straight'. We're not the ones that need convincing it seems.
  1. The fact that many transwomen are already having to be told to be honest about their status before they become intimate with men raises an important question about biological males ahd consent, whatever the wrapper.

We don't care that you like biological makes. Be you and be proud.

usedtobeaylis · 07/02/2026 10:30

Its probably not an unpopular opinion, it probably fits right in with Mumsnet these days to tell someone they have a personality disorder, but I think it's utterly cunty to tell neurodivergent people they most likely have one. Utterly, utterly cunty.

Listen i agree, I only signed up for this thread as mumsnet has a rep for its views on transpeople (predominantly transwomen), and I knew it would be unpopular.

In the real world though, transwomen (passable) are as attractive to straight men as natural women. The numbers dont lie. And another thing, actual gay men are overwhelmingly not attracted to transwomen. They fancy men.

They're always either talking about their inner sleazy sex world or casting out for attention from women. Boring.

I dont think you can generalise ,they are attractive to you thats great but you dont get to speak for all men.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 07/02/2026 10:36

Why use the invented word "transwoman" ?

The correct terminology is "transvestite".

I've not read all the comments and apologise if these have been done already.

The best argument against Scottish independence is the SNP.
Mrs Brown's Boys is not a comedy and it is misusing the English language to call it that.

I don't care if you have a UPF free diet. Stop listing every ingredient in every meal, it's tedious.

Football is boring and I will never watch it - no, not even the world cup.
