Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

Coriander is revolting

Amusing thread😂

Somewhere upthread someone has explained that coriander is 'marmite' - some people taste it as soap.

I think Trump is brilliant.

Very unpopular opinion on Mumsnet.

Unless you mean Judd. He really is.

Although, how much of MN would appreciate that...? Maybe you are right.

Some kids aren’t parented properly and their naughtiness/rudeness spoils it for the rest of the class. As a former teacher, I’d happily sling them out if they can’t be respectful.
There’s 30 other kids in the class, it’s just evidence they’re never told no

ThatshallotBaby · 06/02/2026 23:19

I don’t think children should have formal schooling until they are at least 6.

bornintelligent · 06/02/2026 23:20

A private school is not going to help with a child’s natural development and intelligence.

You don't seem to understand that care for the vulnerable relies on a core that functions

I do understand that, which is why I understand that a strong person can function normally while putting the vulnerable first. To me, it sounds like a very weak thing to say the vulnerable have to go last.

stickydough · 06/02/2026 23:20

Designless · 06/02/2026 22:09

Hm I'd be up for universal 5 star care for all 3 and under actually. But I think in general our biggest problem is spending everything on people who can or will never contribute and nothing on the people who will. Those who go out to hunt for the tribe should eat first X it's a wisdom as old as our species.

But our society doesn’t work like a tribe. It’s capitalism. The rich get richer and the vulnerable get shafted. Whos spending money on them? I know we have welfare but it’s hardly lavish

Bertiebiscuit · 06/02/2026 23:20

Bohemian rhapsody is the worst pop song ever. John Lennon was a serial wife beater and cheater, "Imagine" makes me feel sick at his hypocrisy

Garlic is rank!

Garlic tastes lovely, has antibiotic properties and keeps vampires away how can you not like it?

Kids who cannot sit calmly and quietly in the classroom need to be separated from those who can to allow the others to learn - and the teacher to teach - in the most efficient manner.

EchoedSilence · 06/02/2026 23:21

Private schools are full of kids who will turn out to be as snobby as their parents.

shuggles · 06/02/2026 23:21

@Teanbiscuits33 unless they are a head turner - which seems to be rare these days!

Do you not see how that proves my point?

borisjohnsonsliedetector · 06/02/2026 23:21

Friends is the most boring shit ever around. Whyyyyyyyyy is it still a thing.

Loving24again · 06/02/2026 23:22

Inspired by a current thread….there absolutely should be an option to buy seats on an adults only flight. No children allowed!

SAHM isn’t a job if children are in school

White people who bellyache over Israel v Palestine, who’ve never cared about any other genocide/war. Just an excuse to be anti-Semitic

Chanel no 5 smells amazing in me - our skin can alter how good or bad perfume smells - flowery girly perfume always ends up smelling sickly on me

Yes! Body chemistry effects a lot of cosmetics/toiletries. Several years ago I had a brand of nail polish that wouldn't dry at all once I'd painted my nails, but other brands worked fine! Very strange. (It was Models Own who don't exist anymore.😟) These days Orly last longer than Holo Taco on me before chipping.

Things that women enjoy are not lesser because we enjoy them! I've seen a lot of stuff about make up and fashion and things like that being looked down on, and it drives me bananas.

Mishmosher · 06/02/2026 23:25

Breast feeding hurts like hell for some people even if you are doing it perfectly.

Surely everyone realises this? They arent exactly subtle about it!

JustAnotherWhinger · 06/02/2026 23:26

Coriander, parsley, or any other strong flavour herb chopped and sprinkled over a meal doesn't make the plate look any prettier and often ruins the meal ad the flavour doesn't go

Agreed, I never got Robin Williams. Can’t stand Steve Carrell (?) either.

actually agree with this. FASD is massively underdiagnosed, which doesn't even make sense as it has subtle - but distinctive - visible traits

Apparently, according to what I read some years ago when I was looking into this when we adopted our DS, the distinctive traits are caused at a specific time during the development of the baby in the womb. So it is entirely possible for a child to be affected by FAS but not have the traits.

If the mother was a binge drinker, got very drunk once or twice a month, as opposed to drinking a lesser amount more regularly, then the baby might pass through that facial developmental stage without any alcohol being present in the mum's system.

The brain development takes place across most (all?) of the pregnancy so is very likely to be affected by the binge drinking as well as regular drinking.

Chilli is overdone and ruins most foods 🌶️

yet is added to everything FFS

Ha! I hadn’t thought about this before but I agree. I always pick them out when there are big slices of chilli all over the food. I like a bit of spice but toO much ruins and absolutely don’t understand the people putting chilli / hot sauce all over everything.
