Personally I do

I used to get called young lady by the trainer at a track session I attend before he knew my name and age. I quite liked it 😂. I’m 40 but look fairly young at first glance and he’s pushing 60.

Parsleyforme · 06/02/2026 20:37

No, I would be flattered! I am 35 and don’t get referred to as a young woman anymore

Isit2026yet · 06/02/2026 20:42

@Hmm66 32 is young I'm 42 and still think I'm young. Although I did get asked for ID in sainsburys and were in disbelief at my dob on driving licence

mondaytosunday · 06/02/2026 20:44

If you’re 50 or over that is young!

ScullyD · 06/02/2026 20:44

I’m early 30s and still get called young woman by quite a lot of people. It’s a strange age though - I still don’t feel any different than in my late 20s but 40 doesn’t feel far away either.

herbalteabag · 06/02/2026 20:45

I view 32 as a young woman. When I was 32 I thought I was quite old!

Sugarfish · 06/02/2026 20:47

I’m late 30s and feel young. I’d be pretty offended if someone called me an old woman actually!

Dollymylove · 06/02/2026 20:48

It depends on whose asking. A 16 year old would say 32 is prehistoric.
A 70 year old would say 32 is barely out of nappies 🤣🤣

Itiswhysofew · 06/02/2026 20:48

I think I agree with you, OP. When I was 32 I didn't think I was young. Early 20s is young, but 30 and over is not young.

Brewtiful · 06/02/2026 20:51

Of course someone who is 32 is a young women.

I'm concerned also that someone thinks middle age starts at 30!

Februarysiceandsleet · 06/02/2026 19:39

According to certain academic categories
0 - 30 Young
30 - 60 Middle age
60+ Old age

I was quite offended aged 62 not to be allowed into a friend’s research project because I was officially ‘old aged.”

Wow I thought people calling 35 year olds middle-aged was bad, now it starts at 30 according to some "academics"?! Ridiculous. To me middle-age starts anywhere from around 40-45.

OrigamiOwls · 06/02/2026 20:53

I think it depends on the age of the person doing the referring. My mum's 80 year old friend calls me a young women (and my husband my young man), we are both 40 😂

ScarlettSarah · 06/02/2026 19:35

Leo DiCaprio, is that you?

Nah, he'd describe her as geriatric.

youalright · 06/02/2026 21:10

Well if its anything to go by when I hit 30 my hospital letters stopped saying young lady

GreenIsTheColourOfMyHoliday · 06/02/2026 21:10

Context?

Poetnojo · 06/02/2026 21:11

But 32 is young

InterestedDad37 · 06/02/2026 21:11

I was referred to as 'a lovely lad' yesterday. I'm over 60 🙂. I was quite pleased.

HoldingTheDoor · 06/02/2026 21:12

This is the weirdly age obsessed poster who always asks about being considered young and about minor age differences. There is no context.

Belindabelle · 06/02/2026 21:13

To me a young woman would be 22. Mind you the media keep making out that Catherine, Princess of Wales is a young mother and she is 44.

youalright · 06/02/2026 21:13

Poetnojo · 06/02/2026 21:11

But 32 is young

It depends in what context to die yes. To have a job, child, be married own a house no.

gototogo · 06/02/2026 21:15

I’d say 30-50 is simply a woman, 18-30 young woman, 50-70 middle aged and over 70 old

Disturbia81 · 06/02/2026 21:18

I’m 45 and still get described as it, it totally depends on who is saying it

pilates · 06/02/2026 21:24

It is a young woman, hardly old is it ?

Minjou · 06/02/2026 21:24

Well she's not an old woman, is she?

OMGitsnotgood · 06/02/2026 21:25

32 is young????
