To be shocked Trump reposted an AI video today showing the Obamas as monkeys?

It's as if, since the second term, he's going out of his way to show the cultish MAGA elements of his voting base will support him no matter what. We had the video where he dropped poo on the protestors, then the disgusting mocking of Rob Reiner's death, then the denial of UK troops' heroism in Afghanistan..

And now this.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=globalnews.ca/news/11655664/donald-trump-obamas-racist-monkeys-video/&ved=2ahUKEwjqm52-ysWSAxWHYEEAHSTvCVcQr_oDKAB6BAguEAE&usg=AOvVaw3HtiZuSF1V7_U6jc30odCl

Aren't even his diehard fans a bit embarrassed at his lack of decency and dignity? Unless they buy his excuse that a staffer posted it, which would still raise a lot of questions even if it were true (unlikely...)

Many of you hate him but many of you love him.
I listen to the radio phone in shows. Many Americans support him.
I'd like to believe he wouldn't win vote again tomorrow as he's at an all time low right now but depending on who he opponent was, he very well might. It wouldn't surprise the rest of us if he was voted in again (thankfully it isn't an option unless he decides not to go).

It depresses me horribly to think that it’s because they hate women that much … that they just couldn’t vote for a woman. I don’t know. I hate to think it, but it’s evident in so many ways that some would just love it if women were relegated to the status of powerless appliance for the use of men.
I hate to say it; I don’t want to bring anyone’s morale down, as all we have now is our willingness to keep fighting for a better world… but I’m afraid there may be some truth in it. :(

regardless: we won’t go back. They’re learning that right now. If it comes down to it, women outnumber men and we are capable of being far more ruthless.

The trouble with the American Presidential race is that usually the candidates have to be very wealthy. And some (not all) aren't in it to improve the lives of average citizens or make the world a better place. They and their cronies are just in it to get even richer. And it doesn't matter at who's expense. Hence none of the people around Trump rein him in - he'd sack them, cos he's that petulant. And then their gravy train would end.

It is really true that Trump doesn't have history for backtracking? He's backtracked quite a bit about his closeness to Epstein, for one thing...

Edited

There is nothing that suggests he had ties with Epstein in the way you are inferring. And plenty of evidence to back that up.

LemonyCurd · 07/02/2026 09:11

Carla786 · 07/02/2026 02:43

What do you think of Trump's previous advocacy for the Obama birther conspiracy theory? Seems racially prejudiced to me, there was no evidence to back it up.

Doesn’t seem remotely racially motivated to me - more a query over to validity of whether he could stand.

I have worked in politics for many years and it seems part of the course for opponents to constantly challenge the validity of standing. I’ve heard of it from many people in all manner of ways.

Mostly, I find it weird how people assume because someone is black and they’re involved in something, anyone questioning them about anything must be automatically racist.

Many women voted for Trump.

Perhaps if the Democrats could put a competent woman up for presidency they would get somewhere.

If you haven't watched it and can't comment, why did you comment?

Do you think depicting black people as apes is ok?

You are removing the singular depiction of them from the rest of the context.

Do you think depicting Biden as an ape is okay?

As it stands, I think the whole thing (now I’ve seen it) is stupid, and it was a silly mistake that it was posted. Do I think this makes him racist? No. Do I think people who dislike Trump are hooking into this for something to deflect away from bigger issues? Yes.

Wake up!

I have. I used to be a staunch Democrat supporter.

Thoughts on the fact it’s ‘valid’ for a 34 times convicted felon being allowed to stand for president?

Does that seem like a positive thing when it comes to one of the most powerful positions in the world?

There is a long and vile history of comparing black people to apes and monkeys.

There is no long and vile history of comparing white people to apes and monkeys.

Now. Does that help you understand?

I don’t have issues with anyone standing legally.

I’m more concerned with actions of any leader in terms of what they are doing for the country they are standing for. Trump has so far delivered what he campaigned he would do, which puts him ahead of most leaders immediately.

The reality is he was democratically elected. If you think democracy matters, this should be supported.

Ridiculous locker talk. Do I support it? Nope. Not in the least. Do I expect leaders to be perfect? Nope. Nobody is. Do I think it’s the worst thing he could have said or done? Nope. Do I hope for better? Yes. Do I think he stood against better? No. Do I think, on balance of considering everything, he is the best person for the job right now? Absolutely.

I don’t vote based on things like the above. It’s part of the parade of character assassination and has little to do with facts.

Most men have probably participated in some form of locker room bullshit at some point. Some will have meant it, some will just be playing the ‘lads game’ for whatever purpose it serves. I’m not willing to write off all males on this singular point. It doesn’t track with having to live in the real world vs one of idealism.

Friendlygingercat · 07/02/2026 09:30

I am pretty right wing and I voted Reform in the GE. I despise all the bloody woke stuff. However this is beyond the pale from the so-called most powerful man in the world. Trump is obsessed with Obama and this shows his weakness.

Humans have weaknesses. Hell, so did the gods.

MaggieBsBoat · 07/02/2026 09:32

YABU to be shocked.
Seen the Trump with a shield protecting American girls meme?

Also not shocking.

OhDear111 · 07/02/2026 09:32

Weakness? It shows a bit more than that! The choice of the voters though. Very sad.

Thanks for answering. One last question, do you think on the balance of probability that all of the women (more than 25 of them) who have accused him of sexual assault are lying?

LemonyCurd · 07/02/2026 09:33

Oneforallandallforone · 06/02/2026 19:50

They voted him in TWICE. They love him.
I listen to some American radio shows (on Alexa) and tfhere was far more support for him and for ICE than normal humane people would expect.

I wish the rest of the world would just cut him off. All journalists and tv/radio stations should just refuse to cover anything he does. He'd hate that, would be like depriving him of oxygen.

His ratings are terrible. ',They' don't love him, only his core constituency loves him. More concerning is the inability of Congress to control him. The critical thing with this was when Republicans spoke out against it. More of that please.

CommonlyKnownAs · 07/02/2026 09:39

It's not remotely shocking, for all the reasons you list. The opposite, if anything. This is totally on brand for Trump.

Your question is disingenuous. I can’t possibly know the ins and outs. None of us can.

Also, the ‘probability’ in your question is loaded - you aren’t talking pure statistics, because there are other factors that influence it. The current Lucy Letby situation is a great example of where this can go very wrong very quickly.

Am I aware that people in very visible positions of power can do horrible things? Absolutely. Am I also aware there are people who want to accuse people in power of horrible things they didn’t do? Yes. Am I aware of a snowball effect? Also yes.

As things stands, I can’t know. Neither can you. Politics is a super grubby game. I’ve only worked at local levels and if voters knew the absolute trash people talk at each other behind the scenes, and the lengths some go to in order to discredit others (what you see played out in the media is a tiny tip of the iceberg), I think they’d be shocked.

So, in conclusion, it’s not black and white as it stands. You’re trying to make it black and white. Mostly, the world exists in grey.

America is thriving compared to under Biden. I think Trump is doing an amazing job.

Does that mean you're happy that Trump is a racist ?
