If she sells to America, the Women’s rights champion has sold women out.

What text based forums do we have left for UK centred mums? Netmums with their awful UI? Reddit Envy
Locked down Facebook groups I suppose. Or we retire to gransnet!

Gransnet is (presumably) part of the overall MN company.

TakeTheCuntingQuichePatricia · 01/02/2026 17:01

Interesting, I wonder how that will affect user experience.

None of the words in my user name are my name either. Just in case Grin

🤣 is your name from that thread about op not being allowed to take her own quiche home?
Brilliant.

AnSolas · 01/02/2026 17:50

lightand · 01/02/2026 17:44

I have mixed feelings about that.

it is quite an horrific board.

🤣

Womens rights are never pretty 🤷‍♀️

And some of the posters are working hard to ensure women still are recognised as a sex class in the UK and that public funding is not used to exclude women from public services

T00thl3ss · 01/02/2026 17:51

Do you know what really gets me- not so long ago Justine acknowledged how nasty it was getting and said they were on it. How is she going to be on it if it’s sold?

BambiDextrous · 01/02/2026 17:51

Oh I forgot to say I am not cervine.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 01/02/2026 17:51

ErrolTheDragon · 01/02/2026 17:49

wtf have they used the word ‘plot’ in that title? Hmm

while I do hope that ‘international’ doesn’t mean ‘yet another American dominated SM site’, it’d be quite nice to have a few more from other countries (particularly I suppose other parts of the ‘Anglosphere’ such as Canada, Oz and NZ.

I suppose Justine can’t be in control of mn forever - shes about 60 now - but I hope she doesn’t relinquish overall direction for a while yet.

Presumably in the sense of ‘plan’? Like plotting a course.

JustAnotherWhinger · 01/02/2026 17:51

Surprised the site has got away with not having paid night mods.

It's ridiculous that a site that employs 75 people and has a huge wage bill (that Justine herself referred to after Covid when talking about costs) doesn't even have a basic night rota system after the horrific photos that were spammed.

Not to mention the fact the trolls all know to wait until 11pm to really kick off.

Chenecinquantecinq · 01/02/2026 17:52

Also loads of clickbait fake posts on here recently which now make sense

Purplebunnie · 01/02/2026 17:52

Willowkins · 01/02/2026 17:10

I actually don't like the sound of this at all. What with the changes to the login last year, it makes me think our personal data would be the prize here and it would bother me for that to go international. I'd ask Mumsnet to forget me before that happened.
PS my name is not Willow

My concern as well.

igelkott2026 · 01/02/2026 17:52

I am not a hedgehog. This is disappointing. I did hold out for a few weeks after the pay or consent barrier happened here, but now there's one on Facebook and Instagram as well. Is there anywhere on the internet where you can have sensible discussions without having to agree to targeted ads?

BoyHowdy · 01/02/2026 17:52

Egglio · 01/02/2026 17:13

I'm surprised it has taken this long to be honest, it's had a very good run of 25 years. I will change my feelings about it. Although according to that article I have aged out of the demographic anyway!

FYI not an egg.

Yes, I think the originals of us will probably have seen that and thought, ‘oh!’

PandoraSocks · 01/02/2026 17:53

I don't blame Justine. Take the money and get out whilst the going is good and she is still relatively young. Who knows what the impact of AI will be on sites like this. Plus lots of people are turning away from SM.

longlimbsandfrozenswims · 01/02/2026 17:53

Can't wait for the tickers, avatars and sparkly shit on everyone's usernames!

Mikehunt2018 · 01/02/2026 17:54

Unfortunately, I think AI will feature more strongly whoever buys it.

OP posts:

One of the reasons why I posted it was to wonder silently who the new owners might be.

Just hope it’s not the yanks

Ebok1990 · 01/02/2026 17:54

SwedishEdith · 01/02/2026 17:18

I'm half expecting it to be bought by a po-faced American owner that censors swear words and user names.

Fuck that shit.

Queue a pile in or on.

Cue.

lazybone1 · 01/02/2026 17:56

I think it makes sense to try and offload now. I have found i’m using it less & there seems to be a lot of AI posts to generate content.

Cattenberg · 01/02/2026 17:56

TellingBone · 01/02/2026 17:45

An opportunity here surely for some enterprising MNetter to set up an alternative board to which we might all migrate?

I think that if we can no longer discuss women's rights with reasonable freedom on Mumsnet, then that will happen. But the new forum will expand to cover a vast number of topics, because contrary to what some believe, women are a large and disparate group with many interests. We won't limit ourselves to talking about vacuum cleaners and potty-training, nor will the GC feminists talk solely about women's changing rooms and women's sports.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 01/02/2026 17:56

As long as everyone states where they’re off to, we’ll just drag the community off somewhere else if they try and change everything.

Tableforjoan · 01/02/2026 17:58

Can tattle buy us 🤣

I’ve been on a few forums that seemed good then suddenly died. I’ve over ads my blocker is good on here I don’t get any but tiktok well I avoid that now due to add that appear while watching videos.

I guess Reddit will become home as Mumsnet dives after a sale unless a place like tattle buys it. I could never netmum. Shudder

RichardOnslowRoper · 01/02/2026 17:59

Yep! There's been a plague of AI generated threads started to which the "OP" never returns
