Not, it's nearly half a year!

Itwasallyellow2 · 01/02/2026 13:11

No!

HumbleStumble · 01/02/2026 13:11

Yes.

TwistedWonder · 01/02/2026 13:12

No

DustyMaiden · 01/02/2026 13:12

Not usually, if it was a big milestone with a holiday or party to plan, maybe.

KnickerlessParsons · 01/02/2026 13:12

Don’t be ridiculous.

DigbyandFizz · 01/02/2026 13:13

No, but maybe if you were nearly 30, 40, 50, 60 etc. as that's more than 95% of the way since your last big birthday.

LastSeenDancing · 01/02/2026 13:14

No, but a friend who had a big party for her 40th did start planning it about 6 months before to get the venue she wanted and to give people time to plan, sort childcare etc.

ExtraOnions · 01/02/2026 13:14

It nearly your half birthday (anything for a night out round here).

My 50th, I let people know a year earlier (on my 49th) what I was planning

Whatbloodysummer · 01/02/2026 13:14

Of course not ! 5 months away is almost half a year.
Would you also say I've just turned 25 when your birthday was 7 months ago?

notacooldad · 01/02/2026 13:15

Depends where it is. If its a big blow out to a place im not likely to ho back to yes.
Going to Malaga then no.( even though i love Malaga!)

ApolloandDaphne · 01/02/2026 13:15

No. I would say once it gets to the month of my birthday that it's getting near but not before.

99pwithaflake · 01/02/2026 13:15

No.

Thewonderfuleveryday · 01/02/2026 13:15

Don't be daft. Of course not.

Talipesmum · 01/02/2026 13:16

No! Though, if it’s in the context of wanting to plan a large complicated celebration with many people, with travel / invitations / complex venue / food arrangements, I might think it’s getting close. Basically if you’re planning something for your birthday that needs 5 months notice, fair enough. Or if you’re approaching your 80th birthday and are hoping you make it that far, perhaps yes. Otherwise no, it’s practically halfway between your last birthday and the next one.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 01/02/2026 13:16

No.

OhDear111 · 01/02/2026 13:17

No. 1 month away, yes.

aCatCalledFawkes · 01/02/2026 13:18

Not although I did organise a weekend away for my daughters 18th well in advanced but we didn't really discuss it.

RudolphTheReindeer · 01/02/2026 13:21

Not generally but if it's a big one and lots of plans need to made then probably.

Figgygal · 01/02/2026 13:22

Not in any interpretation of the word no
That's like saying it's nearly the summer holidays today as they're 5 months away.

AuntyBulgaria · 01/02/2026 13:24

No. Nearly my birthday would be next week. Next month at the very most.

ThroughTheRedDoor · 01/02/2026 13:24

My 13 year old absolutely does.

Tillow4ever · 01/02/2026 13:25

No.

Fine to start planning a party that far out, but I wouldn’t say it was nearly my birthday until I get to the month (my birthday is right at the end of the month though).

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 01/02/2026 13:26

Of course not

WhatICallMyUsername · 01/02/2026 13:29

Would you say in July it’s nearly Christmas?
