No, but I do start to go up a year a few months before my Birthday. Gives me time to get used to it 😂

Owlmoonstar · 01/02/2026 14:26

No. Because I'm not a toddler.

This sounds like a question a toddler would ask. How bizarre.

Fodencat · 01/02/2026 14:30

No! That’s mad! There other peoples’ birthdays before having to think about mine

Createausername1970 · 01/02/2026 14:31

If it's a special one and you are making plans to book, cater or would otherwise like an idea of numbers etc, then 5 months is not unreasonable.

But if its just a normal birthday year then it's unreasonable to think anyone would be giving any thought to a birthday that far off.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 01/02/2026 14:32

No

whatcanthematterbe81 · 01/02/2026 14:46

😂😂

whatcanthematterbe81 · 01/02/2026 14:47

My 5 year old counts the day after her birthday as close to her birthday. But no, it’s ridiculous

OonaStubbs · 01/02/2026 14:48

No, it's nearly as close to your last birthday.

Adults who make a big deal about birthdays are very strange.

FussyFancyDragon · 01/02/2026 14:51

No. That would mean you’re either always saying it’s nearly your birthday, or it’s just been your birthday.

Tryagain26 · 01/02/2026 14:51

Well it's less than half a year so you are nearer to your next birthday than your previous one. But I wouldn't say it's almost your birthday

BlackCat14 · 01/02/2026 14:51

I started planning my 30th about 4/5 months before, but I wouldn’t have said it was “neatly my birthday” at that stage.
Why?

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 01/02/2026 14:52

No. Nearly your birthday would be about 2 weeks away

Growlybear83 · 01/02/2026 14:53

Of course not! It’s nearly my birthday when it’s a week away.

Chemenger · 01/02/2026 14:54

WhatICallMyUsername · 01/02/2026 13:29

Would you say in July it’s nearly Christmas?

Lots of MN do seem to think the run up to Christmas starts in about mid-May, to be fair.

Translatethedog · 01/02/2026 15:02

If I was about to turn 5 (it’s been nearly my dgs birthday nearly for a few months).
Sadly I’m much older so no. Maybe two weeks before.

Translatethedog · 01/02/2026 15:08

I have let Dh know what I want for a birthday present for my birthday in June but that’s because it’s the most beautiful classic car in the whole wide world so I might have to go back and mention that it’s nearly my birthday.
(Really long sentence with no punctuation to reflect the beauty).

Thanks op.

OP hasn’t been back. What a random question to ask and then disappear.

DaisyChain505 · 01/02/2026 15:15

It depends in what regard. I wouldn’t be dishing out my birthday list of potential presents people could get me or asking people to make plans etc until a few week before.

But 5 months before I may think “oh I’m closer to my next birthday than my last.”

Maybe she’s sad because it’s her birthday in 5 months?

Mariets · 01/02/2026 15:22

No,not until the month before.

hollytheheroic · 01/02/2026 15:23

huh?

She's busy planning her party because it's almost her birthday - only another 151 more sleeps!

Obviously I'm being tongue in cheek, I imagine @Aummernight77777 asked because someone in her life is being annoying by going on about it being nearly their birthday when actually it's still almost half a year away.

Disturbia81 · 01/02/2026 15:30

No! That’s like wishing time away

Instructions · 01/02/2026 15:31

No, of course not. 5 months is almost half a year.

Echobelly · 01/02/2026 15:31

I probably did when I was about 7!
